Getting My Hair Dyed For The First Time

Getting my hair dyed for the first time! Tips?!?

The very best thing you can do is take a trip to the salon you are going to, and ask the stylist who will be doing your coloring ahead of time what they recommend. They will tell you what colors/undertones will look good with your skin tone, eye color, and complexion, and what areas you should highlight or not highlight. Ultimately, whatever your color choice, it's up to you, but my advice would be to listen to the person doing the coloring. Just make sure you go to a reputable place (like Regis, Gene Juarez, etc.) and you will be fine- I have never come out of Regis looking bad since I started going there when I started dying my hair... 5 years now. A good stylist/colorist is someone who can take your "vision" and what you want and transform it so it looks perfect on YOU.

Pictures are going to help them the most- you mention Kirsten Dunst and Jennifer Aniston. I would find pics of their hair colors you like in magazines and bring them to show the colorist. I always bring pictures, and my hair always comes out looking amazing. Because sometimes, when you say one thing you THINK you want, it's called something other than what you said, and when it comes to something as valuable and crucial as hair, you always want the best communication possible. :)

As far as taking care of your color, the colorist can also tell you the best way to do that. Never go swimming within a week of coloring your hair, AT LEAST, if not longer. And when you do swim, either wear a swim cap (I can't stand them), or use a leave-in product that protects your hair from the chemicals in the water (this is what I do).

Getting your original hair color back is always simple, especially if your original color is darker than the one you changed to. It requires less harsh chemicals to put a darker color back in hair than

Getting my hair dyed for the first time?

I'm getting my hair dyed soon and it will be professionally done for the first time. I am still a teen, if anyone wonders. I was wondering what color should I get my hair dyed. I wanted either a dark reddish brown color, a lighter brown with highlights., or a brown to light ombre. I don't want anything that's crazy like Ariana Grande red. My hair is a really dark brown/brunette, and I have caramel skin (African American)

Info on getting hair dyed for the first time?

At some salons there are books to look at, and you just pick what you want. However, what you want done sounds easy enough as to when you walk in and its your turn you just tell the hair dresser what you want done and then they find the right color etc...
The cost can depend on how long your hair is (longer=more expensive), the brand of dye they use, and just the overall salon.
($40ish dollars, maybe more, maybe less... that is the price I've seen a lot.)
It doesnt take that long, an hour or so, once again depending on the salon.

I don't think it matters about getting lowlights or whole head color for the first time. Since youre not using a bleach base, i really think it can be your preference.
the lowlights might look cute for spring tho ..

good luck, it sounds like your hair will come out very cute either way. (:

Getting hair dyed (at salon) for the first time?

It's very simple just takes a long time because what they do is go mix the hair color, then, they put it in your hair with some foil to hold it and separate it. Next they will put you under the hair dryer (the chair one) for like 10-30 minutes depending on the color, then they will wash it out dry your hair and cut it depending if you wanted it cut or not. Not any surprises unless your getting it bleached for the first time cause then its like warm and smells funny. But its okay.

How long should I wait to get my hair dyed again ?

Ok, i got my hair dyed for the first time about a month - month and a half ago.
My natural hair is a jet black color, and i got auburn highlights.
But im tired of the highlights now and i wanna go back to black.
And i asked a professional and they said its ok to dye my hair at home, with a dye called " clairol " it has a hue of blueblack, the color i wanted, its closest to my natural hair color.

I want to know is it too soon to get my hair dyed again ?
I noticed slightly that the brown color made some of my hair get dry, and i usually take care of my hair very well.
Well this black is a dye too right ? Would it make my hair get more dry ?
What do you guys think i should do ?

I really want to get rid of this brown in my hair though.

It depends on what you are trying to achieve. I've been at the salon for 3 hours, and I've been at the salon for just 1 hour.Bleaching and then dyeing or toning can take forever. Putting the bleach on takes like 15-20 minutes, then I have to sit for 30 minutes while it processes, then I have to wash it all out and then I have to get toned or dyed. Toner depends on the strength, dye takes about 30 minutes and takes 15-20 minutes to apply. Then I have to rinse, again. So that's about 2 hours. With a professional. And that's after my hair cut. My haircut is easy though, about 15-20 minutes. If you've never dyed your hair before, don't start with box dye and don't do it yourself. Go to a professional. They'll do it faster than you and you'll be much happier with the quality.
