Getting Rid Of A Bad Uti

Can I go swimming with a UTI (urinary tract infection)? Would it make the infection worse, would chlorine affect anything, and would it infect other people?

I’ve read the other answers and normally they are right but I can tell you another story that is very different. When I had cancer surgery in 2004 they went ahead and removed my ovaries. This removed all estrogen production. I went through withdrawal from the estrogen and it was awful. I was started on replacement therapy which was wonderful. Then the whole problem with replacement therapy started. It was stopped and I did fine. Over the years I noticed really bad vaginal dryness getting worse. My husband was dead so I didn’t need it anyway. Then I went to my MILs to swim. I was on a float for 2 hours and felt great. 2 days later I developed a really bad UTI with blood, terrible pain and almost non stop bladder spasms. I called my doc and got antibodies. After 10 days I finished them and 2 days later it started again. I called and got a different antibiotic and took it. Then it started again. We have had them over time but this was unreal. I made an appointment with a urologist. When I told him what happened he nodded. Yes pool water can cause a UTI if the vagina is extremely dry. Also the bladder spasms were caused by loss of estrogen. The rest of the body can do with it but the bladder needs estrogen to function properly. He gave my a different antibiotic to take daily and a estrogen replacement cream. It took 2 days to have resolution of all symptoms. He says most of his patients have this problem. Anyway I see him twice a year and life is good. So you can get a UTI from a pool if you have the right circumstances.

How do I get rid of a bad UTI?

I have had a UTI for going on 3 weeks. I tired over the counter products for a week, but I started feeling horrible so I went to urgent gent care. My red and white blood counts were elevated in my urine sample so she prescribed me Cipro (500mg once a day for 5 days). I felt great for about a week then it started coming back. I went back, but she couldnt find anything abnormal in my urine, but she still prescribed 7 days of 100mg of Macrobid. I felt great the next day, but now I'm on day 6 and I feel like its coming back. She also gave me Pyridium to help relieve the pain. I'm drinking tons of water. I'm taking cranberry tablets with probotics and vitamin c. I've drank baking soda water. I'm eating yogurt. What now?

First confirm its a uti and not another infection (STD or candida infection can cause similar symptoms). Then youll need a urine culture to see what bug is causing the grief and antibiotics that correspond to the bacteria causing the infection. While theoretically it is possible for your body to clear the infection on its own in some instances, some infections will get worse and spread to the kidneys. I NEED to get rid of this urinary tract infection WITHOUT going to the doctors?

You can drink cranberry juice and water until you float down the river, but if you truly have a urinary tract infection, the key word there is INFECTION. An infection can only be cured by antibiotics. It sounds as though you got medicine, took it until the symptoms stopped and you felt better, so it came back. You did the same thing again, and it came back. Over and over, until you are most likely immune to the antibiotics that stop these things. And are you sture this is a UTI and not something else? There are a number of veneral diseases that cause UTI's and even make it appear that you have an UTI. If you are sexually active, I would guess that you have something other than a UTI. If you aren't then I'm glad, but you STILL need to see a doctor, regardless.

How do i get rid of urinary tract infection?

Unfortunately the best and fastest way is to take antibiotics. When I can't get to the doctors I buy a big jug of cranberry juice and drink as much as I possibly can. That and water are the best, try and drink as much as you can until you start to feel better. Yogurt helps as well, the good bacteria in yogurt helps kill the germs and other bacteria that causes UTI.

I hope this helps :)
Feel better soon.

Will smoking weed help a UTI?

Smoking weed will actually make your UTI worse because weed acts as an irritant as it makes it's way thru your urinary tract and your bladder. The best thing for a urinary tract infection is something called Urinary Pain Relief Tablets. The active ingredient in those tablets is pyrididine. You should take the tablets, 2 tablets a day three times a day for 3 days. Along with those tablets you should take Concentrated Cranberry Capsules (same intervals, two capsules at a time). If after 72 hours, your symptoms are not lessened any, then you need to see a doctor as you will need an antibiotic. Avoid drinking caffeine, drink plenty of water, and if you can stand the taste of it, cranberry juice helps as well.

Hi sunkissedblooms,
I had the same problem. What pills did you use?
I used the AZO All Natural Concentrated Cranberry Tablets.
They contain an all-natural concentrate from pure, fresh cranberries. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001G7QT2E?ie=UTF8&tag=digitsy-post3-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B001G7QT2E
AZO helped me to maintain a healthy urinary tract but I am not a doctor. I think you have to see your doc.

I tried to find for you more information and found this medicine Cystex Antibacterial & Analgesic Urinary Pain Relief Tablets. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000052YF7?ie=UTF8&tag=digitsy-post3-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B000052YF7
Cystex is a non-prescription medication available at your drug store. It works two ways. For one, Cystex contains methenamine. This inhibits the growth of bacteria in the urinary tract, and is specially useful for chronic suppressive treatment. Cystex also contains sodium salicylate, which safely and effectively relieves pain, inflammation and fever. If you suffer from a burning sensation while urinating, or you need to urinate frequently, you may have a urinary tract infection (UTI). UTIÕs can be painful, but, when treated properly, are rarely a serious health threat.

UTIÕs are caused by bacteria entering the urinary tract. At one time or another in their lives, 1 out of 4 women develop a urinary tract infection. Women tend to get UTIÕs more often than men, because in women sexual intercourse can result in bacteria being pushed into the urethra, the urinary canal; and women have a shorter urethra than men. Wiping from back to front after bowel movements Ð i.e., towards the urethra Ð can also push bacteria towards the urinary tract.

Preventing UTIÕs
Drink plenty of liquid and urinate frequently. Urination helps to flush out bacteria.
Wipe from front to back after a bowel movement Ð away from the urethra.
Take showers rather than baths.
Urinate after intercourse.

Take care of yourself. Good luck.

How long does it take for uti go away?

Antibiotics can have it gone in days. There isn’t anything better than taking an antibiotic. Nothing. And a couple of the comments on here recommend solutions and the only reason solution is? Drum roll please? Antibiotics. That’s it. Now, you can save yourself from having to go to the emergency room by taking something that make sure the UTI doesn’t get worse and can minimize the pain while waiting to talk to a general doctor. ER bills are too expensive and just not affordable for people with chronic UTIs or maybe have a UTI every now and then. I like to take Cystex Urinary Pain Relief Tablets - Cystex because they always work and they don’t claim to be better than antibiotics or to use them instead, they are rather a temporary solution while you are waiting for your doctor’s appointment. The real magic is the Cystex Urinary Health Maintenance - Cystex which is completely different than anything you tried before. Its an extremely cheap solution for people with chronic UTIs. Its a daily solution that you drink once a day. You will be UTI free regardless if you have sex, get UTIs all the time, and anything else that causes a flair up. Amazing results.

Is drinking Milk bad when you have a urinary tract infection?

Researchers in Finland have found that eating certain dairy products, like yogurt and some cheeses, may lower the incidence of urinary tract infections (UTI) among women. In a case controlled trial, the eating habits of 139 women diagnosed with acute UTI were compared to the eating habits of 185 women of the same age with no episodes of UTI during the past five years. Those women who ate fermented milk products, such as yogurt and certain types of cheeses, three or more times a week had a 79 percent lower incidence of UTI than those who ate such foods once a week or less. Authors speculate that the probiotics found in foods like yogurt and some cheeses may inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria and therefore protect against urinary tract infections.

I would be cautious with plain milk but products containing milk seem to do well for UTIs.
