Getting Wisdom Teeth At 16

I'm 16 and my wisdom teeth are growing?

Yes, because everyone is different. Some teens get their wisdom teeth as early as 14 while other people are in their 20's. It's normal and your dentist will either refer you to an oral surgeon or discuss it with you. If you have any questions, you can always ask your dentist about it.

Can your wisdom teeth come in at 16?

They can, and mine did come in early (and had them removed at 16), HOWEVER... I only experienced the sore tenderness of the gums, no bad pain. They also took quite a while to come up through, it wasn't any sudden experience of pain.

Do you know what position they are in and if they could be impacted? I believe if they are pressing against other teeth it could cause pain. Might look up the symptoms of impacted wisdoms and see if that sounds familiar.

If the pain is getting increasingly worse though I would check that out with your dentist sooner. I can't imagine putting up with that for two more weeks. Increasing pain and IF it feels even worse when laying down then that could also be a sign of an tooth infection/abscess, which can hurt really bad, and that would need an antibiotic asap if that were the case. Been there, done that; some of the worst pain I've had in my life.

I'm scared about getting wisdom teeth removed ?

Don't be scared kiddo, you'll be fine. I'm 21 and I got them out earlier this year. I was "put to sleep" and the actual procedure was totally fine.
I felt no pain at all. I did have a hard time with recovery. But it is very unlikely that you will have a difficult recovery. That is because at 16, only the crowns of your wisdom teeth have developed, so they don't have to go very deep into the gums to remove them.
It was different with me because my roots were fully developed and long, so they had to go far down to remove them.
Anyways, don't worry, it will just give you an excuse to lay around and watch tv/movies and have everyone serve you for a week. ;-)

I am getting wisdom tooth at the age of 22, is it normal?

There are a small percentage of people who will never need their wisdom teeth (or third molars) removed. The underlying question is really; “why should I get my wisdom teeth out NOW?” That is an easier question to answer. The age at which someone will have their wisdom teeth removed varies from very young (12-13 years old) to adulthood. The most common time to have the procedure performed is between the ages of 16 and 20. The range varies so greatly due to the many reasons that someone will require wisdom teeth removal. The wisdom teeth may negatively affect the eruption or movement of other teeth for someone getting or about to get braces (orthodontics). The wisdom teeth attempting to erupt may also cause pain and or swelling of the gum tissue requiring their removal. If your wisdom teeth are not currently causing issues for you specifically, there are still reasons to have your wisdom teeth electively removed. For years the oral surgery community has advocated for the early removal of wisdom teeth prior to adulthood when possible. Only recently however, have the studies to support this view been performed. The general result of the studies confirmed that the vast majority of people will develop more significant problems with their wisdom teeth in place (periodontal disease, cavities, cysts, etc.) compared to patients who have had their wisdom teeth electively removed. These results were the same for people with impacted wisdom teeth and for those whose wisdom teeth actually had enough room to erupt.Given these results (that most people will have their wisdom teeth removed at some point in their life), having your wisdom teeth out as a young adult (16-20 years old) is recommended at our office. Statistically you are less likely to develop a significant complication from your wisdom tooth surgery (infection, numbness to lip, chin or tongue, sinus problems, etc.) at a younger age. As you get older the risks for these complications as well as the rate at which your body will recover from the surgery itself gets progressively worse. Also, it may be more convenient as a patient to have the surgery scheduled electively when it fits best into your schedule that to wait for an emergency situation that would be more disruptive to activities our patients are involved in (school, sports, extracurricular activities, etc.).Discussing these issues and how they relate specifically to you is what occurs during the initial consultation.

What are the chances of getting nerve damage during wisdom teeth extraction during the ages of 16-17?

The greatest threat to nerve damage during the extraction is on the lower extraction. There are two possibilities involving branches of mandibular nerve. The inferior alveolar nerve runs through the jaw bone. The course of the nerve, the developmental stage of the tooth and position of the impacted tooth are the key issues in the prevention of nerve damage. Every case is different and can be different from right to left in the same patient. In most cases X-rays cans determine where the nerve is located and its relationship to the tooth. Most teeth are not a problem. The graphic below shows the possibilities of problem positions.[1]In some cases the root may actually hook around the canal. Though extremely rare, the tooth can surround the nerve canal. In cases where the tooth is in a bad position, the surgeon may decide against the removal. If it is an absolute necessity that the molar be removed, only the necessary side could removed. The second source of possible nerve damage lies is the lingual nerve. This nerve splits off the the mandibular nerve before it enters the mandible or jaw bone. It lies close to the surface of the gums on the inside of the mouth before it descends to feed the tongue and inside of the mouth. Improper flap design could result in severing the nerve when making the incision of the gums to expose the underlying tooth. On rare occasions the nerve path deviates from the norm and may unintentionally be damaged even with the most conservative flap design. The graphics below shows both nerves and their approximate position.[2]Nerve damage to either nerve is rare. The tooth-nerve relationship is of primary concern n the diagnosis and treatment of the third molar. If there is an expected problem, the surgeon will discuss this with you prior to surgery.Footnotes[1] https://www.google.it/search?q=i...[2] https://www.google.it/search?q=i...

Is 16 too young for Wisdom teeth?

No that's not too early, I was definitely in high school with several people who had theirs removed. I'm almost 30 and just had one come through....and that's quite late lol
But even if it's not wisdom teeth there could be something else going on back there, so either way he should take you to the dentist.

Why am I growing wisdom teeth when I'm 13?

The teeth that you feel are most likely your second molars. You do have third molars forming under the gums but they are too far under the bone so that you would be aware of them. There is an outside chance that your growth and development is ahead of the average. In this case, you might feel the erupting wisdom teeth but it would be normal.

Can you get wisdom teeth when you are 10 years old?

You are 10 and you think your wisdom teeth are growing?K. Do me a favour. Count your teeth for me.Starting with your top front tooth on the right. Call that #1.Now count each additional tooth on the right side. How many teeth do you count?Do the same for the top left, bottom left and bottom right. If you count to 8, you have a wisdom teeth. Usually it erupts after the age of 16/17 to when you are in your early 20’s.If you count to 7, it is your second permanent molar coming in. A little early in your case but not by that much.If you count 6, the 6th tooth is your first permanent molar which should already be there because it erupts around 6 years old. After you count, please reply in the comments as to what you counted.

Why could my wisdom teeth be growing if I'm only 16-years old?

Well that is completely normal. The official timing is 17 to 21 yrs for it to come out.whereas it completes it's formation by 16 yrs.Now I want to tell you something important that these age ranges come from different statistical studies. I have given you the most authentic reference range and which was a Philadelphia based study.Throughout the world it can obviously vary accordingly . Our body is a finely tuned orchestra which play by it's own rule , no bookish range can explain it perfectly. 16 yrs is okay.
