Going To Bkk On Jan 17 2014

How can I get a tourist visa for Bangkok?

I think I am eligible to answer this question now :), as I visited Thailand on 3rd Jan 2017 . Even I was searching over Internet to find out the ways I can get tourist visa for Thailand(be it Bangkok or any other city/state).As others rightly mentioned you don’t have to show 20000 THB to them. Some webistes say that, you should have 20000 THB in your bank A/C but from my experience I can say that it is not needed. There are two ways you can get tourist visa for Thailand:Applying via VFS(Visa Facilitating Services) -Thailand website , all the pre-requisites are already mentioned in the website . To be on the safer side make sure you have a month time in your hand before your travel date.I am not sure about the visa fee here ,I went there and I couldn’t apply because I missed out few documents and I ran out of time .Note : Please, carry your marriage certificate if you are married.Ideal time for visa processing here varies from 3-30 days based on the queue.Second and the better way ,at least that’s what I feel is VISA ON ARRIVAL .Visa on Arrival fee of 2,000* Thai Baht to be paid in Thai currency only (*Visa on arrival fee will be 1000 THB between December 1, 2016 and February 28, 2017)I paid 1000 THB for visa as my travel was between Dec 1 and Feb 28.They will also issue a departure card with this. Keep that Departure card safe,it’s very much needed during your departure from Thailand. This is based on my personal experience and from the sites where I got some information.List of countries eligible for On Arrival visahttp://www.suvarnabhumiairport.c...Useful Links:Tourist Visa - Embassy of India,Bangkok - ThailandThailand Visa Information - Chennai (India) - Contact UsThailand visa on arrival for Indians, Chinese and others. The procedure, the documents and frequently asked questionsThailand Visa on Arrival Procedure, Application Form, Documents and other Requirements at Suvarnabhumi, Don Muang, and Phuket AirportsP.S. This is applicable only for Indians. Process could be similar for other countries as well but I am not sure.Hope this helps! Thanks!

I am planning a 7 day trip to Thailand for my honeymoon in December 2015. Planning to visit Krabi, Phuket, Bangkok and Ko Samui. How do I go about planning this?

I’ve actually been to each of these places except Samui. You can tell me all about it once you’ve been there! If you want an end to end plan, then the best way to do it is to use Ithaka - Your personal travel assistant. Free travel advice (you will chat with a real traveler and they’ll help you plan your trip!), it’ll help for sure.If you want to brave it on your own, here’s my suggestion:If you are doing Bangkok, Krabi and Samui, then you can skip Phuket. Granted it has some spectacular sunsets like thisand some real good chillout places like thisBut apart from that, it is very commercial and touristy. Not the best honeymoon spot.Bangkok sounds good because you’ll probably land and take off from there (plus some shopping), but consider these islands instead of the regular Krabi/Samui if you can (the app mentioned above can help!). If you want to stick to Krabi/Samui they’re great too, don’t worry :)Koh Lanta is the quietest and least popular of these places, and very beautiful itself. The nightlife is mellow, but you have places where you can sit by the beach and chug a beer late into the night while someone plays the guitar.Koh Lipe is a tiny bit harder to reach, but well worth the effort. It is relatively quiet, very offbeat compared to the other places and totally, utterly breathtaking!

How do I plan my 7-day trip to Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket and Krabi with my family at the end of November?

End of November is already nice for water activities. It won’t rain too much and tourism tends to be on the lighter side. Prices are lower than in January.day 1 arrive bkk. Checkin. Enjoy the city, spending on which day of the week, enjoy JJ market and have street food there. In the evening, go to explore more of the city.Day 2 do a river boat tour (hop on hop off tourist boat) and explore the Palace, Chinatown, Wat Arun and have tea at any one of the riverside terrace restaurants (ranging from simple shacks to Mandarin Oriental).Make your way to Jim Thompson House. Get a tour before 4pm and enjoy Happy hour from 5–6 then enjoy a nice dinner there. Afterwards explore MBK and the adjoining Nightmarket. You’ll be tired.Day 3. Take a big taxi to Pattaya after breakfast (yes taxi is perfectly fine and you negotiate the fare beforehand). You can negotiate to have the driver stay with you for the day. Go to floating market or even Nong Nuk Garden elephant show (I don’t do those anymore but some enjoy). Evening go to walking street and enjoy the smells and sights of this tourist destination. Do NOT enter the water at he beach. Or you might not make it for the rest of the trip. I wouldn’t bother with any of the jet skis or boat excursions here.Day 4. After bfst head to either Utapao or BKk airport for your flight to PhuketDay 5/6/7 enjoy Krabi and head to Phuket. Depending on what time of year, you might want to go snorkeling or enjoy a hike at Khao Sok. You can rent a car or hire a driver. Between Krabi and Phuket it’s an easy drive. You can explore a cave in the way in PhangNa, too.In Phuket you should definitely visit the Chalong Bay rum factory, Torry’s Ice cream in old town and enjoy a seafood dinner at Rawai. Explore one of the Jim Thompson outlets and even take a stroll down Bangla walking street.Sometime on Day 7, heat back to Phuket Airport for your flight home.

Is it safe to travel from Thailand to Cambodia by bus?

Yep, do it by bus, it’s more of an adventure! This how I did it. Get a bus to Poipet. When you are at Poipet, a lot of Thai guys will meet you off the bus, and tell you they will get the visa for you. This is a scam, and they overcharge you for the visa. When you tell them “no thanks” they will protest and say it’s impossible to get the visa yourself. This is all part of their routine. Don’t be rude to them, they are just trying to make a living for themselves and their families, just smile and say “no thanks”. A smile goes a long way in Thailand. What you will need to do however is make sure you have a passport photo for the visa. If memory serves, you may even need 2. Just make sure you have some. It’s always good idea to keep passport photos when you are traveling anyway, you need them for quite a few visas worldwide. The visa itself cost 20 USD when I did it a few years ago. Before you cross the border, try and change up some money to American Dollars. Cambodia is a very cheap country, so 100 USD could potentially last you your first few days there. The local currency is the Riel, but USD is preferred by most people. Most people upon crossing the border go to Siem Reap. The best way to get there is to get a taxi. Find some other travellers and fill up a taxi and split the cost. I can’t remember what I paid but between 4 people it will only be a few dollars each. It’s not much more than getting the bus, only a lot quicker, especially when you consider sometimes in Cambodia you can wait literally hours for the bus to leave. Switzerland it is not!Happy travels!
