Going To See Fireworks Any Healthy Snacks I Could Make

How to calm a dog afraid of fireworks?

My 17 year old shih tzu is scared stupid of fireworks AND thunder. Instead of giving her the doggy tranquilizers, I just turn on all the lights and and turn the tv or radio on loud. She isn't fooled, but it's not as bad as just pretending to not notice that she's frantic (which a trainer suggested, heartless bastar*). My vet suggested a recording of thunder or fireworks and just playing it louder and louder until it didn't upset her anymore. The recording never DID upset her! LOL!!
Talking her for a car ride seems to calm her, too. It's frustrating to see them that upset, isn't it?
Good luck!

What to do while waiting for fireworks?

mess around, have fun, two go away from the group for a little to make out, watch funny videos on the ipad on youtube, meet new people, walk around pretending to speak another language to each other, play football, be the craziest people around, lay on blanket and read, read to each other, make up stories, eat snacks, wiggle toes in grass, enjoy not having to do crap for once, have a deep conversation with one of your friends, two offer to walk to the nearest store to buy pop for everyone, bring sparklers and play with them, paint nails, snuggle up and take a nap, listen to music together and talk about it, write music, draw pictures together, when you're with friends you can never be bored

Going to the beach? any ideas? (read details)?

1) I don't know, sorry! :)
2) Pretzels, trail mix. Fruit salad is good but can get a little more pricey. Smores for the fire! Cheese and crackers, pb&j's cut into 1/4th's.

3)I'm really not sure, I live in Ohio :) go for it!
4)""
5)I would say starting around 7-8, an hour or 2 before it gets dark
6)Frisbee, volleyball, keep-it-in-the-air, you take a kick ball and get everyone in a circle and..well keep the ball in the air! Build sandcastles, fireworks! give thanks that you don't live in ohio!
7)Make sure to take blankets and chairs and plenty of weed, I go camping a lot and it really SUCKS when you don't have something real to sit on

Fireworks marriage proposal? Any suggestions?

I am a very romantic guy and I was wondering if any of you girls - guys can comment, too - thought that it would be romantic to propose using fireworks. Of course we've all seen the smiley face firework and the heart-shaped firework, but I was curious if anyone thought it would be cute to have a custom firework made with a heart that said my girlfriend's name in it and then another heart-shaped firework that said "Will you marry me?" or "Marry me?" in it on 4th of July, at some random time in the middle of the display, or at some other fireworks occasion, so basically unexpectedly during "just another" fireworks display. Does anyone think this would be a cute or good way to propose if I set it up right, and would it reach a girl's expectation's of creative but not too cheesy? I would really love to hear feedback from any of you and thank you for taking the time to read this.

Can firecrackers kill fish?

Only if the fish are in the immediate area, or if the explosion is extreamly large ( I'm not familiar with torpedo bombs). I through firecrackers and bottlerockets in my 1/4 acre pond and I have never noticed any fish deaths, in fact the fish population is out of control. Unless, your dads pond is so lightly stocked that it will be effected by the death of one or two fish, or your throwing in 1/4 sticks of dinamite, it shouldn't be a problem.
Fish don't have ears in the sense that we think of them. They do have a lateral line that runs the length of there body and is very sensitive to vibrations. It is so sensitive that they can feel you walking on the shore.

My daughter sneaks food?

I don't pretend to have the answers for you but two things immediately came to mind -
1. There shouldn't be all this junk food for her to get into in the first place
2. If you've let it go on for three years already... no one here can help you. It's a much bigger battle now than if she'd been doing it for 2 weeks.

A lot of people who suggested punishments got thumbs-down, but IMO if she's been taught how to choose healthy snacks and to let you guys know when she's hungry, and still chooses to sneak, then she is being disobedient. That's a problem. If I woke up to my daughter eating ice cream at 6:00am, she knows she'd be in trouble because she knows when treats are allowed, and when they're not.

I'm not clear on whether she's just been allowed to get away with this for too long, or whether there is an emotional issue as some have suggested. Both are worth looking into. My daughter rarely wakes up in the middle of the night, and surely has no interest in eating during that time, which makes me wonder if there really is another issue going on. You know?

Sports are an excellent idea, not to "make her lose weight", but to keep her occupied, and teach healthy activities. I give you kudos for that.

I wish you the best of luck.
