Books similar to The Fault in Our Stars?

Me and Earl and the dying girl
Andrews, Jesse
Reason: Addressing a scary subject like terminal illnesses is never easy or fun, but through complex and relatable characters these novels do it with a sense of humor, honesty and even irreverence. -- Sarah Stanley

2. Before I die
Downham, Jenny
Reason: While determined Tessa (Before I Die) wants to experience life and sarcastic Hazel (Stars) hides from it, the brutality of terminal cancer and the tingle of a new romance drives both of these thoughtful, character centered novels. -- Alina Gerall

3. A love story starring my dead best friend
Horner, Emily
Reason: While their stories are different, there's a lot of sadness in both of these novels -- but a lot of the thrill in life, too. Readers who crave realistic dialogue and characters dealing with life's messiness will be mesmerized. -- Ellen Foreman

4. Forever changes
Halpin, Brendan, 1968-
Reason: For emotional yet never sappy stories about true-to-life (if a bit eccentric) characters dealing with harsh realities, check out either of these alternately funny and serious novels. -- Ellen Foreman

5. The truth about forever
Dessen, Sarah
Reason: If you enjoy 'The fault in our stars,' you may also enjoy 'The truth about forever.' Both are character-driven, moving, and dialogue-rich Realistic fiction about teenage girls; teenage boy/girl relations; and teenage romance.

6. Lock and key
Dessen, Sarah
Reason: Readers who enjoy character-driven and dialogue-rich Realistic fiction about teenage girls; teenage boy/girl relations; and teenage romance might also enjoy this book.

Books like Every Day and The Fault in Our Stars?

Some of my favorite books are:

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
Every Day by David Levithan
Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
The Chosen One by Carol Lynch Williams
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Has anyone read these and have any good recommendations? I've already read other john green books (looking for alaska, paper towns etc) I want a book that is so good that I cannot put it down.

Does anyone know of any books like The Fault In Our Stars?

The Fault In Our Stars was awesome. Had lots of meaning and passion and I'm looking for something like that. Sort of a teen book that I can relate to, yet not something too kidding. I'm 17. Has lots of meaning and themes without being too pretentious. Please don't list other books by John Green, I've read them all. Thanks!

Am I the only one who didn't like Fault in Our Stars, the book?

No! Firstly, with this, I don't mean I don't like the works of John Green. He writes amazing. I loved his 'Looking for Alaska' and I am currently reading 'Papertowns' which is gripping me. However, I failed to be attached to 'The Fault in Our Stars'.All this time, I was wondering why so much importance was given to the movie, as the book itself didn't impress me. So many people updating their status baffled me. I think it was just a chain reaction. They must have marketed the movie well (I believe) and then youngsters just went with the flow (atleast in India).I have surely read a number of books which were much better than TFIOS. I give a 5 to the book on a scale of 10. (This is just my opinion). For people who "absolutely loved the book/movie", you must read other books/ his other books. (Though choices may differ :) )

What books should I avoid if I didn't like The Fault in our Stars?

A walk to remember by Nicholas sparks and PS I Love You are similar to Fault In Our Stars in terms of the genre. They both are love stories with a sad ending but worth reading. If you don't like Fault In Our Stars, I would suggest you not to read the above mentioned books.

Books like Looking for Alaska and The Fault in our Stars?

If you haven't read Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins, I HIGHLY recommend that, and the companion novel Lola and the Boy Next Door. The romances in those books are to die for, and they're all about going to school in Paris, and so forth.

Otherwise I'd recommend Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green (same author as LfA and TFioS) and David Levithan. It's a fantastic book, and if you liked John Green's writing style, I guarantee you'll like this as well.
