Do you think a good character that becomes evil is cliche?

Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer!I'm not sure it would be a cliche, but some baddies do pretend to be goodies to infiltrate the good guy's layer/home/family/circle before striking out to do some damage. And then there are characters who start out good, and turn bad because of circumstances. Like the character Nero in Star Trek. He was the captain on a mining starship and when his home planet was facing destruction, and the man (Spok) charged with saving the planet got there too late, Nero watched his home planet - along with his wife and child - disintegrate. But not only did Nero want to kill Spok for this, he wanted to destroy Spok's home planet and everyone on it, as well as anyone else who tried to stop him.Baddies are not always born bad, some are made bad by circumstances, some are turned bad because of the way they are treat, and some just get a thrill out of hurting people. But regardless of how they became bad, they will ALL have a very vindictive mind which will make them do anything to wreak havoc on the people they hate the most, even if it means befriending them the get to them.

Where is the line between good and evil?

The Bahá'í Faith put forth an interesting perspective on this one. In this teaching, it’s said that good and evil are concepts that are relative to man and that evil is just a term to describe a state without goodness. An example would be scorpions:Scorpions are poisonous. When faced with a serpent, they sting. When that happens we call it a defense tactic. On the other hand, when scorpions sting humans, we call it evil because it has the capacity to kill us.If you think about it, a lot of things we call evil are relative to man. E.g. : massacres, The Devil, plagues, serial killers, natural disasters. The line between good and evil doesn’t even exist when we see things as being on their own without having any relation to us as humans.

What is the plot, characters and the main evil or story line in "Beyond the Rift" by Dennis Michels?

I need to re-design the cover for a college class but Amazon is vague & it is a very hard book to find. My library doesn't have it, none of the libraries that mine is connected to have it either. Its too expensive to buy and I won't get it in time to turn in my rough draft. I want more details on the characters and the "evil" that is in the book so I can come up with a great design. I've search the internet but everything is very vague. All I've gotten is its about the a cult and the release of evil from the rift, which I think is something like a black hole??? maybe I'm completely wrong if so PLEASE HELP!

What TV character most effectively blurs the line between good and evil?

Dexter comes to mind right off the bat. He seems like a perfect example in my opinion, though I'm sure there's plenty of others. An example, a bit more on the lighter side, that comes to mind is BoJack Horseman.

What do you call a character who is both good and bad?

human...

love the hook handed man though. ermm but basically just neutral xoxo

Are there any Game of Thrones characters that were not evil, yet they were driven to harsh and cruel actions out of desperation and despair (they were driven towards walking the line between good and evil due to extremely unfortunate circumstances)?

Most of them? Catelyn is not an evil person. She is not a good person for how she treated Jon and maneuvered for her children’s advantage above all else, but circumstances turned her step by step into a murderous rage zombie. Robb was a typical boy who wanted to impress his father. Circumstances turned him into a predator who turned to killing as a first option rather than a more nuanced view of the world. Arya wanted to be a warrior and leader like Queen Nymeria and Visenya. She is on her way to being a sociopathic killer. Bran wanted to be a knight of the Kingsguard. He is transforming into a telepathic abuser of animals and people alike. Sansa wanted to be the perfect lady. Now, she is learning how to be a scheming player of the game of thrones.Sandor Clegane was a little boy who wanted to be a knight. Now, he is a damaged person inside and out crying out for merciful death (in the books). Even Joffrey just wanted his father’s approval. He got gobsmacked and spent his short life attempting to be something he was not.Everyone in Westeros meets that description if we look hard enough. It is what George R. R. Martin is attempting to do: paint characters of gray who struggle is within their own hearts.
