Good Georgia Peanut Slogans

What does "Ukraine for Ukrainians" mean?

In most Slavic languages, "kraina" means "country" or "land". The word "krai" in Russian is used this way too (several regions within Russia are categorized as "krai"), but its second meaning "edge"/"boundary" is often pitched by Russia to interpret the word "Ukraine" as "borderlands" (of Russia, of course). Given that Ukraine is one of the largest countries fully in Europe, this interpretation is wrong as Ukraine is not a border of anything. The "borderlands" interpretation was wrong 40 years ago, when Ukraine developed a number of world-leading high-tech industries, including electronics, aerospace, and ship-building, in addition to major industries in steel-making, energy, and machine-building.It was wrong 60 years ago, given that Ukraine was one of the founding members of the UN after suffering the brunt of fighting in WWII.It was wrong 80 years ago when Ukraine established a Parliament and a Government Cabinet to support the exceptionally fast industrialization. It was wrong 90 years go when Ukraine became the second largest component of the Soviet Union and one of the most developed regions - economically, in terms of agriculture and transportation, etc. It was wrong 100 years ago, when Ukraine was about to declare independence for the first time. It was wrong 1000 years ago when Kievan Rus was among Europe's most prominent states and Moscow's founder wasn't yet born (in Kiev). To answer your question, today Ukrainians view Ukraine as an independent country that is not a part or a satellite of another country. While the Ukrainian language is the only state language in Ukraine, people speaking other languages remain citizens (unlike in small Baltic states that limit citizenship for security reasons). Half of the military in E.Ukraine is Russian-speaking. The soldiers complained about many things, such as old weapons and poor supplies, but they have not complained of language discrimination. Not to mention that many members of the government are native Russian-speakers, including the president, several don't speak Ukrainian (including people born in Lithuania and the Republic of Georgia), and only one (a Ukrainian American) does not speak Russian.

What does "you'll float too" in Stephen King's It mean?

This is an interesting question, because it’s one of the things that my wife and I talked about after seeing the film. The answer I’d give depends on whether you are talking about the quote in reference to the film or book.In the book — “You’ll float too!” seems to refer to the fact that the children end up in the sewers, which are full of water. The bodies, when flushed from the sewer, also end up waterlogged in the barrens. The origin of the saying seems to have come from Georgie, who asked if the balloon he was going to get from the clown would float in all the water that was sloshing around in the storm. The clown seemed to take a certain glee in informing Georgie it would, and that he’d float, too.In the film — Answer #1 is still technically correct, but seems to equally refer to the fact that all the bodies were “floating” in the air around Its lair. The movie has a lot less water in general. In the book, there is more of a focus on the barrens as a swampy place with a stream of wastewater running through it, and the canal running through town is a big focus. In the book, the sewers they go into to hunt It down are a lot grosser.

What are some sayings similar to "like two peas in a pod"?

The actual phrase your looking for can be used to denote any two things that go together naturally; it speaks of similarity and inseparability. You can, like many people do, simply use two well known combinations: peanut butter and jelly, hand and glove, peas and carrots, the list is endless.Likewise you can get more specific with the reference and alter the tone. Like sin and damnation (or penance), like stoners and snacks, like two foxes in a hen house, and my personal favorite "two cannibal midgets in a fat guy's rib cage" (Borderlands 2).
