Good Laptop To Play Sims 3 On

Good laptop for playing the Sims 3?

What you want to focus on is getting a laptop that comes with a decent GPU (for gaming) and a decent display (as a general concern) at the same time. These are the two aspects that you want squared away before you start worrying about things that aren't going to affect you as much (e.g. processor and RAM, which in most options tend to be more than enough already).

The GPU is the primary determining factor for game performance. You're generally going to hit a wall with your GPU before it matters too much how well you do in other performance-related areas (e.g. CPU, RAM, etc). In fact, things like CPU and RAM are generally abused for marketing purposes, and emphasized beyond their actual relevance for concern.

The display is an important consideration, in that it has a huge effect on your entire user experience -- both in terms of how much you can fit onscreen due to the resolution itself, and in terms of quality that creates its impression continuously. You want to make a point to get a decent display once it starts getting to be reasonable to do so. A 15.6" 1366x768 or 17.3" 1600x900 display, for example, is not a "decent" display -- it's actually pretty bad. 15.6" 1920x1080 and 17.3" 1920x1080 are what you want in those sizes.

That said, here's one of the few laptops that comes with a decent GPU and a decent display at the same time, for under $600:

**HP Envy 15z** (AMD Radeon 8750M, 15.6" 1920x1080 glossy display) - **$577**

Good Laptop for Playing the Sims 3?

So, I'm currently in the market for a new laptop after two miserable years of dealing with a temperamental Macbook. Basically, I want something that I can install Office 2010 on, play the Sims 3 + expansion packs, and maybe play some Nancy Drew games on. I also want my new laptop to be durable and last me awhile since I'm going into teaching within the next 2 or 3 years and will need a good computer. After months of searching, I think I found what I want:

HP Pavilion dm4x
Operating system: Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit with Service Pack 1
Processor: 2nd generation Intel(R) Dual Core(TM) i7-2620M (2.7GHz, 4MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 3.4 GHz
Graphics Card: 1GB DDR3 Radeon(TM) HD 6470M Graphics [HDMI, VGA]
Memory: 8GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
Hard Drive: 750GB 5400RPM Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
Primary Battery: 6-Cell Lithium-Ion Battery (standard)
Display: 14.0" diagonal High-Definition HP BrightView LED Display (1366 x 768)
Primary Optical Drive: SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support

So, what do you think? Will I be able to play the Sims 3 smoothly and at a high performance level? The only thing I was a little unsure of was the graphics card...

What's a good laptop to run sims 3/4?

I know I need a new laptop. I was looking at the specifications for sims 3 and am just trying to get something that will work for it since sims 4 specifications aren't out yet. However I plan to assume sims 4 won't be too far from the tree as far as requirements go.

Sims 3 requirements

http://www.thesims3.com/game/systemreq

Laptop I'm considering

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Toshiba-Black-15.6-Satellite-Touch-C55T-A5123-Laptop-PC-with-Intel-Celeron-N2820-Processor-4GB-Memory-Touchscreen-Display-500GB-Hard-Drive-and-Win/34174284

I am looking for something like this, however, how do I know if it has pixel shader 2.0. That's the big thing and I think only thing I can't find. If you have any other options, I'm really looking forward to running sims 4. I don't know that sims 4 will require Pixel Shader 2.0 but sims 3 does and I'm really just going by sims 3 requirements.

Thanks so much,
J

What is a good laptop that can play Sims 3 (with all expansions) for under $500? The only things I need are internet, Sims, and Word (which I will get later).

Speaking from practicality, rather than knowing for sure, most laptops on the shelf will run Sims 3 with no problem, as you need. The base requirements of an Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent, already states that the game that was written to run on computers of an an entirely different family of processors that came out in the mid-2000’s. This was before things like the Core 2 Duo (common in the later 2000’s), and before the current i3, i5, and i7 family of processors which started around about 2010/2011. We are now in the 9th generation on the shelves, and computers are just simply blazing, compared to back then. Every 2 years, computational speed (for the price) doubles. So, if we compare a computer that sold for $500 two years ago, with one today, the one today will be twice as fast.Sims 4 has come out since then (2014), and even than, the minimum requirements were set for a computer that was about $500–700 back then.I think that you simply need to go down to the store and pickup your new computer. Maybe spend a little more, like $600–700, and get a little more memory (like 16GB), but you should be absolutely happy!

Is MSI a good laptop for playing sims 3?

I am looking to buy a new laptop after the holidays and am considering a brand I've never owned before. No-one I know has experience with this brand either.(I am mainly a toshiba girl) I need a computer thats fast and will handle my graphic design software as well as my games such as sims 3 and diablo...my boyfriend will also be playing more games on it. I also use my laptop for movies and music. I am not a very tech savvy person so I am hoping someone can tell me if this is a good computer. I am not a patient person so I'm hoping by spending more then I wanted I can get a fast computer with a great memory and will handle my games without crashing. My favorite game sims 3 likes to crash laptops but my laptop now is not a gaming designed laptop. So would this laptop be a good first gaming laptop? I will post a link to the computer I am considering. Feel free to suggest others.

Are lenovo laptops good for playing sims 3?

Hello,

Yes, you are able to play Sims 3 with any of those laptops, but I would recommend you buying the 3rd laptop which has i5 processor at 3.1 Ghz, great enough to play on the maximum settings.

Hope this helps,

Which laptop could I buy just for playing The Sims 3?

My wife plays it all the time on a Asus UX430 with a MX150 discrete graphics. MX150 is one of the cheaper GPUs you can get in a laptop and is frequently found in ultrabooks. It runs Sims 3 great, can even run some newer games.Sims 3 will actually run on integrated graphics, but you’d have to turn down the detail a bit for a smooth experience.

Is it possible to play the Sims on a laptop?

It’s possible to play any game on a laptop. Only question is whether the particular laptop you own will be able to do it.It’s pretty hard to say without knowing which model that would be. However, I can say my wife played Sims 3 on her 2012 MacBook Air 11″, which was a pretty darn weak machine. If yours is better than that, you can definitely do the same.
