What are some catchy titles for a science fair project?

"Life, the Universe, and Everything"On a serious note, a catchy title is probably not going to help you.The shortest title that clearly communicates the nature of the investigation you conducted is your best friend. If you want some assurance that your title isn't handicapping your project, I suggest that you search for 'science fair winner' on a search engine and read the titles of winning projects and see if you can infer some abstract principles from them. Here's the title of a recent Google Science Fair winner: "TEMPERATURE-INDEPENDENT, PORTABLE, AND RAPID FIELD DETECTION OF EBOLA VIA A SILK-DERIVED LATERAL-FLOW SYSTEM"Perhaps not catchy, but pretty darn impressive!

What is a good title for a science project about how sunlight affects plant growth? I grew three plants. One in the dark, one under a lamp, and one under the sun.

Izzy,You need to further define your experiment. What you need to do is accurately define the spectrum of your lamp. Also, you need to define your way of measuring plant growth.FIRST: You are comparing “growth” under various conditions. So you need to state how your measure growth.Growth of a plant can be measured by “dry weight”, or simply by “height”. The latter is a very poor measure. Plants under inadequate light tend to put “growth” into height of the plant. On the the other hand, “dry weight” measurement is a more accurate measurement of the actual mass growth of the plant than height, but far more complicated to carry out.SECOND: You need to accurately define the conditions conditions and variables of your experiment.First, consider “growth”. If you fiddle around with growing various plants under artificial light, you will see the spectrum of the light clearly influences the rate of plant growth. So you need to very clearly define what you mean by “under a lamp”. In essence, that means stating the spectrum of light produced by the lamp. Generally speaking, this means looking up the spectrum of light produced by the bulb of your lamp and comparing it to the spectrum of light produced by the sun.Secondly, you need to define what you mean by growth. Given inadequate light, plants tend to put growth into height rather than mass. A spindly plant of 20-inches height may be nowhere near the total mass of a fully-grown plant of 10-inches height. Totally removing the plant from the ground and measuring its dry weight is a classical way of avoiding this problem. If you do these two things, you will get a clear measurement of how the frequency and intensity of your artificial light compares to sunlight in promoting plant growth.W

Is it okay if my science fair project title is long?

If it is professional, then that is fine. Most research projects have long descriptive titles.
