Will a low CGPA and a good GRE score get me into a good US university for a MS?
Academics are the most important consideration when you apply for MS in USA. The reason being you would be studying new concepts based on Bachelors in the same field. If your Bachelors isn't upto mark, most universities presume that you lack in core concepts.GRE consists of Quant and Verbal, its gives the admission committee an idea about your logical abilities. That alone can't be a criteria for admission into the university. To put it simply, how can you compare 4 years with 4 hours.You can always highlight the reasons of backlogs in SOP and emphasis positives like GRE, Project etc but getting into great universities would be difficult. 1060- Is that an alright GRE score?
It's not great, but it's okay. I think you have a decent shot at getting into a program, but it depends on how strong your other application pieces are. How is your GPA? Your letters of recommendation? Are you published, or did you present at any conferences? Have you had relevant work or internship experience? I think all those other factors will play a big roll in determining whether you get accepted with that score. If your other application pieces aren't so hot, I suggest trying to improve across the board. Study really hard for 3 -6 months and retake the GRE. You could consider taking a Kaplan course, or at least getting the books to study. Try to get an internship for the summer. If you haven't graduated from undergrad yet, try to build stronger relationships with professors and get involved in research. Good luck!
What if my academics score is low and GRE score is high?
The first thing you should do is check average GPA of the MS program you're applying to. Also, if you haven't scored low grades in the relevant subjects it shouldn't be much of a problem.SOP is a great way to demonstrate how you're passionate for the course and why your GPA is low. Valid reasons such as health/family issues are taken into consideration by Ad Coms. Get LOR by professors who taught you relevant subjects and the subjects in which you got good grades.Focus more on your strengths.

I'm a BE graduate,BE production engineering. Got a good aggregate of around 85 % in my academics. Haven't done any international paper. Interested in MIT,Stanford,Georgia. Can anyone give me the minimum score required for these universities or for the Top 25 Universities in the Field of MS Manufacturing or Industrial or CAD/CAM ?
How hard is it to get into USC for grad school?
This will literally depend on your field, and highest grades don't mean much. Two of my friends applied for the same PhD program at Stanford. The one with the higher GPA, 5 papers, and higher GRE score got rejected. The one with the lower GPA, 1 paper, and average GRE scores got accepted. Graduate schools aren't necessarily looking for the smartest person. Graduate schools want someone who does good research that gets published (writing skills really matter), and someone whose research will bring money/prestige to the school. It's always worth trying to get into a graduate school because the standards are very different from undergraduate. The best schools will take 8 to 25% of all candidates, so in some cases it's easier to get into than undergraduate universities.
Can a good GRE score compensate for bad undergraduate grades?
