Google chrome is playing youtube videos in mkv format instead of flv format.......?

i was using google chrome v35. recently i saw that youtube is playing videos in .mkv format instead of .flv format. so i checked for updates and found that v36 has been released. so i updated to the latest version. and that day videos worked fine in youtube (i.e. in flv format). from the next day onwards, again it started to play in mkv format. when i play the same video in firefox, then it plays in flv format.
what has happened???

but the biggest problem is, when i download videos from youtube, then vlc media player doesnt play that mkv format of video. it plays but it will be like playing highly scratched cd in a very old dvd player. but downloading same video from firefox doesnt give any problems, and it will be in flv format. i am using latest vlc media player.
what should i do now??
i might have used firefox, but it sometimes (rarely) gives some errors like "cannot establish security connection..." and doesnt download videos. so for this reason i want to use google chrome because it doesnt give such errors.

i googled it but couldnt find the solution, because i am having such problem since few weeks only, and no my friends are having such problem though they are using same version of chrome. so i think it might be a new problem so that no one have posted in any sites.

what should i do.... i dont want to use any other browsers. please help meeeeeeee............

How much time does Google Drive take to process an uploaded video (any format) so that it can be played on Google Drive (using a browser) when we just click on the file in Drive to play it?

As Sam's pointed out already, once your video has finished uploading, the file gets converted into a number of format/codec/resolution combinations behind the scenes to ensure it can be played back correctly on whatever device you're accessing your Google Drive content from. This conversion process takes time and details depend on the type of format/codec your original video was in, how big the file was, what it's resolution is, etc.The same happens when you upload a video to YouTube, it always gets converted and stored in a number of different versions. One thing you can do if you want to speed up the process is to compress your video before you upload it to reduce its file size. Modern codecs such as H.264 or VP8 for video and AAC for audio (and more recent ones like HEVC/H.265 and VP9 for video) are able to compress your file at (almost) no visible or audible quality difference and at the same resolution as the original. Unless you want to store the video on Google Drive in the state it came off the recording device you used, compressing it will make the upload process faster. Also this way you're ensuring that you're uploading your video in a modern format/codec combo that the Google servers can process without any problems that might increase the processing time.See here for a few more details - How to Upload Videos to YouTube Faster - Clipchamp Blog. This process can be applied to Google Drive video uploads as well.

I have come across a video file that's on a .undf format. How can I run that file on VLC or any other media player?

VLC is one of the best player for windows that i have come across which absolutely play all the major file formats. But still there are some formats which the beast can’t run and one of them is UNDF format. Many user’s are facing the problem while running the UNDF formats so let’s see how to fix VLC does not support UNDF Format. What does UNDF file format means?UNDF File Format, is in fact, the undefined file format. It means that the player is unable to define the format and unable to recognize it. Mainly, it is being seen in VLC player, when we try to run the file which is not completely downloaded and also in the completely downloaded files. Why VLC gives VLC does not support UNDF format error? The main reason for the VLC does not support UNDF format error is the partial or incomplete download of the file, which we are trying to run. The other reason may be corrupted file and even due to some internal issues within the file. The non-availability of appropriate codes required to play the concerned file is one of the reasons for VLC not capable to play files. However, there are some instances, where the even if the file is correct in all aspects, faces the same issues, displaying the message “No suitable decoder module : VLC does not support the audio or video format “undf”.How to Fix VLC does not support UNDF Format? In a way, Combined Community Codec Pack is a simple and highly efficient codec pack, suitable for all kinds of users. It provides the full support of the audio and video file and offers the extremely easy solution to trouble related to the UNDF Format. The other solution is that you can try the latest version of VLC Player, which many times, rectifies the error shown in the previous versions. So, before going for the Combined Community Codec Pack, our advice is to try the latest version of the VLC Player.First install the latest version of VLC from here.Check if updating VLC fixes the issue if not then continue.Download Combined Community Codec Pack from here.Install the Combined Community Codec Pack and run the file again in VLC.UNDF file must be running in VLC properly without any error if not then go to next step.Right click on the file and select open with MPC-HC and you won’t get any error.Enjoy playing your video without any error.Source : GoogleTo get more clarity watch youtube videos regarding it.

How do you choose between MP4 or MKV format?

“Better” implies that you have criteria for comparison — but you didn’t state what those criteria might be.MKV and MP4 are container formats. MKV more or less permits any sort of audio and video streams to be in the container. MP4 is specified by the MPEG format and uses a simplified version of Apple’s Quicktime as the container and constrains the codecs used to those specified by the MPEG standard. As far as container format features go, QuickTime > Matroska > MP4.As far as container format support by other software and players goes, MP4 >> QuickTime > Matroska (in commercial applications, QuickTime is more widely supported, and open-source Matroska might have a slight edge). As far as container format codec support goes, Matroska >> QuickTime > MP4. Matroska was explicitly designed to be a universal container and support content in any encoding. The practical problem, of course, is that you can store content in encodings that other people don’t have a decoder for. QuickTime technically also supports any sort of streams like Matroska, but the spec only mentions about 20 video and 12 audio codecs, so anything outside of those you can’t expect to work in situations where QuickTime is used (in fact, a few of the more obscure codecs aren’t so well supported outside macOS). On the other hand, MP4 is quite restrictive, but that restriction is also an asset because something that deals with MP4 is going to support each codec (up to some complexity profile). As far as quality of quality of the content, that’s defined by the codecs used in the container and not the container itself. Matroska, MP4, and QuickTime can all contain HEVC (h.265) content, which is the best you’ll find today. In practice, h.264 is the one for which there’s the most support (due primarily to patent licensing issues) and all of the containers deal with h.264 just fine. So, which is better is going to depend dramatically on your criteria.
