Got A Tragus Piercing How Should I Take Care Of It

How much do tragus piercings hurt?

I got my tragus piercing done last year and tbh it didn’t hurt. Like at all, the only thing is that changing your piercing is kind of hard because it is like a screw on but overtime you get used to changing it. It is a beautiful piercing and it is painless so in my opinion if you want it get it.

What are the pros and cons of a tragus piercing?

I want to get one for my birthday in April but after doing a little research I'm kind of freaking out. Can it really paralyze your face? What exactly happens when your cartilage shatters? Any success stories are welcome too :)

What is the best way to soak a tragus piercing?

i used a cotton bud with savlon antiseptic wound wash twice daily, back and front of the piercing without twisting the jewellery and it healed very quickly with no problems!

Caring for a tragus piercing is much like aftercare for any other body piercing. It will take approximately eight weeks to heal, and during this time you need to remain diligent to avoid getting and infection.

You will need to clean the area two to three times each day. This should be done by soaking a cotton ball in either saline solution or a disinfecting solution recommended by your piercing professional and washing both in front of and behind the tragus.

Be sure to soak around the earring so that some of the solution can be worked into the hole. keep the cartilage from adhering to the jewelry as it heals.

Resist the urge to scrape away any crusty build up caused by drainage from the area. This can lead to injury, or it can push some of the material into the piercing where it will likely act as a seed for an infection.

Here are some other measures you can take to help fend off infection and/or injury.

* Resist the urge to finger your new earrings. This can transfer bacteria to the area.

* Wash your hands before cleaning the piercing or changing your jewelry.

* Do not allow anyone to kiss or whisper sweet nothings in your ears until they have fully healed. Again, you're aiming to reduce exposure to bacteria, even from your closest loved ones.

* Change to a fresh clean pillow case every other day to reduce bacteria and allergens.

* Try to wear button up shirts rather than pullovers to avoid snagging your earrings while you ears are still quite tender.

5) NOO it didnt hurt! i didnt even flinch, its just an annoying pain really but it lasts for about 10 seconds, i thought when the piercer put the jewellery in it hurt more than the actuall piercing but not much anyway!

I love my tragus and you should totally grt it done! its unique and everyone always compliments it!

Is it a good idea to get a tragus piercing?

It’s not a good or bad idea. If you want them get them. I got a tragus in both ears and they healed faster than any of my lobes, helix, or conch. But they probably hurt the most because that part of your ear is thick so it has to go through two layers and you can hear a popping noise which is kind of gross. You also can’t wear in ear headphones for a month. Overall I’m happy with them, they’ve given me no problems and because they’re closer to the face hair doesn’t get caught on them as much as my other peircings. So far my conch piercing has been my most problematic. But tragus have been great and look cool imo.

Why is my tragus piercing swollen?

Ive had my tragus piercing for 5 nearly 6 months, it is 100% titanium and I clean it morning and night with salt water, it was swollen to the size of the pierced bar 2 months after I had it done so it was changed to a longer bar but it is swollen, this is how it always looks ~this was took right now after a soak, also could you please answer my other question about hypertrophic scarring and how to treat it on my account, much appreciated!

How do I do a sea salt soak on a tragus piercing?

I have to soak my tragus because of a pressure blister I got from sleeping on it. When my piercer was telling me how to take care of it she said to soak it for 5 min, 4-6 times a day. I gave found if I try to soak it for longer than that to make up for missing one it can get very tender and sore so I wouldn't go too much over 5 min. The process I use is I tear a cotton ball in half, and after soaking the first half I kind of wedge it part way in my ear canal but not deep in so it stays pressed against the back of the piercing and use the other soaked half to gently press on the front of the half, which also helps press the back into the other cotton half. Hope this helps!

How do I prevent my tragus piercing from swelling?

It's pretty much going to swell no matter what you do. A piercing is considered a foreign object to the body, and the piercing hole is essentially a wound that has to heal, and swelling is part of the wound healing process. You can make the swelling less by taking NSAIDs before you get yourself stabbed with a needle, but keep in mind that NSAIDs can also make you bleed a little longer. What you do is up to yourself, but if you're for some reason allergic to NSAIDs or don't want to leak a trail of blood, then don't take the NSAIDs and just deal with the swelling. You can cool the wound a little and hope the swelling will go down, but do not use ice. I repeat, DO NOT USE ICE. Ice and metal piercings do not mix well!As for the rest.. Take proper care of your piercing. Clean it every day and pamper it. The less irritants, the quicker the swelling will go down.

Would you let your 14 year old daughter get a tragus piercing?

I think it's fine. But, no matter how much you want it and how safe it is, it's still up to your mom. It sucks, but it's up to her, not you. (as much as we all wish it was different.) so if she won't say yes. just maturely say "I can wait 4 years." (til you're 18, or 2 years if you can be 16 without parental consent. ) because it's her choice and she has to okay it, the only thing you can do is be graceful when she says no. If she says no, then just say "fine, I can wait until I'm a legal adult." instead of screaming "I hate you. You never let me do anything!" She'll be more likely to change her mind if you are mature about it (or at least let you get it done sooner.)

Would it be a bad idea to get a tragus piercing 2 to 3 months before I go on vacation?

It very much depends on how well it heals. And this isn't something you just know beforehand, unfortunately.A tragus piercing takes around 3–6 months to heal, but the general consensus (read: quick Google search) around tragus piercing healing times around the community is 3 months.Mine took the 3 months to heal, and it was my first ever piercing (besides usual lobes done as a baby). The aftercare was not hard to keep track of not was it difficult. The piercer gave me a sheet and touched up on the points for the aftercare routine and it was done.I guess, if you know you'll take great care of it during the coming months before vacation, I'd say do it. If you think you may be one of the few that would take a little longer to heal, wait until you're back from vacation.I hope this helps!
