Got Hired At 2 Places

Why will no one hire me?

I'm 19 with no job experience, but I really want to work. I've been applying to jobs a lot lately with no luck hardly at all. I've applied to 5 places, got interviews with 2 and got rejected by one, the other places haven't gotten back to me. I apply everywhere I can find and no one seems interested and it's really discouraging me. Why will no one hire?

I got hired at two places and want to keep both jobs, what do I tell my managers?

I got hired at Chick-fil-A and Wendy's (both part-time); I need the money for college and would like to keep both jobs but I'm not sure how to approach my managers with it.

My orientation for Chick-fil-A is Monday and my Wendy's orientation is Tuesday. How do I make this work and what do I say to my employer?

Repharsed question: I got hired at a bank when do they give out paychecks?

Last time I talked to my employers was during interview. I recently got told that I was hired over the phone so I didn't want to ask them questions then. I dont come into the bank until monday to fill out paperwork. I was really hoping for a job that paid me weekly.. So before I go in to sign new hire paperwork, does anyone know when TELLERS usually get paid? I got a job at bank of the west

I just got hired on a month ago, half the staff quit. Should I be concerned?

Probably. It the team / work culture was positive there would be no reason for them to leave right? Obviously, something is going on that caused half the team to jump ship.I recommend looking into other places to work and have you considered freelancing? The worst thing you can do is leave a steady paying gig with nothing lined up. We’ve all been there and it isn’t a fun experience. So my advice is simple - get something else lined up. Join as many freelancing websites as you possibly can. The more places you are, the more chances you have to lockdown a gig. The site I always recommend is goLance here you can upload your resume, bio, image, the works. After you complete your profile it’s all about applying for work. Just like getting a 9 to 5 job this takes time. To help put the odds in your favor remember to tell your network. Let them know you are actively seeking work. Let them help promote you and possibly recommend gigs to you. After that it’s all about applying for work. Depending on your skills, rate, needs, etc will determine how easy it will be to replace your current job with freelancing. On that note, you don’t have be exclusive as a freelancer, meaning you could use it to earn some income while applying to other jobs IF working a 9 to 5 gig is what you’re looking for.It all comes down to the type of person you are and how you operate.Let me know if you create a profile on goLance it’d be cool to check out your work and learn more about you.Good luck!

I got a job at Dollar Tree!?

I think it's a great job for your age and the fact they're allowing you so many hours. (My first job was working in cornfields in the sun all day.) Everyone's nervous for a first day. They'll show you around, where all the stock is, how to run the register, how to greet people and ring them out, the first day is always pretty darned easy. Then they'll gradually add things like stocking and things. Just remember if you every feel bored at work, either ask what else can you do, or clean things. No boss likes a bored employee playing on their phone.

Where should i work? Kmart or the dollar tree?

Go back to each store, just to observe, like a customer. Take the environment of each store into account, and weigh the benefits of each. Personally, I would pick Kmart over Dollar Tree based on what you said. Stress may or may not be a big thing to you. Also, if you work at Kmart and have more customer issues to deal with, you'll gain experience with those things (refunds, exchanges, resolving concerns, etc), and you'll be better prepared for another job of a similar type in the future.

Students at IITs/BITS are getting a package of 2 crores. Why do companies like Facebook, Google, etc. offer such a huge package to IITians/BITSians?

They’re not huge packages. In fact, it is very mediocre pay when you consider the places these companies are situated and the kind of taxes that they have to pay.Entry level software engineers to these companies are usually paid around $100,000 dollars an annum (which is 60 lacs). The ‘2 crore package’ news that you see is nothing but a hyperinflation, taking stock bonuses, joining bonus and relocation bonus all into one. With $100,000 in a place like San Francisco, you’ll struggle to make ends meet if you go in with a mindset of living the extravagant life. Out of the $100k, around $35–40k will go as taxes. That leaves you with around $60k.SF Bay Area has one of the highest rent rates in the world. Even to rent a hut, you’ll have to shell out at least $20k a year. A decent house with all basic amenities will cost you around $30k. And forget about getting a new house. The minimum salary that can sustain the mortgage payments for the cheapest of houses in SF is $170,000; which is 70% more than what you earn. It’ll take you at least 5 years to command that kind of salary. So, you’re left with $30k now. Labor is insanely costly in the United States. You’ll be paying people between $10 and $15 an hour for tasks such as plumbing, carpentering, mowing the lawn etc. There is no way you could afford a maid or a domestic worker with that kind of salary so expect to do all the cooking, cleaning and laundry yourself.Even if you live on a frugal diet and spend very little on third party labor, the maximum you’ll end up saving is $2–3k. And if you’re the kind of person who likes spending the weekends out partying, then you won’t be left with even that. No wonder the Americans have close to zero lifetime savings. So, if you think getting a job at one of these MNCs will make you rich beyond imagination, think again. It is only the beginning of your career. Don’t have unrealistic expectations about the kind of wealth you can accumulate at such a young age. Getting into these companies directly after college is, no doubt, a fantastic achievement but it’ll still take years before you can walk into any restaurant and order wine without gasping at the price tag.

I got fired after 2 months in my first software development job. I had to learn frameworks in a week and complete the project. I was not given good training, and senior developers did not have time to train me. I’m at a loss. What can I do next?

It doesn't seem like a very friendly workplace.I have worked at a few companies as a software developer, and in each instance, I've had about 2 months to ramp up, with no significant responsibilities (just small projects that require learning about the system, etc). This really has not much to do with senior vs junior. Senior developers unfamiliar with the framework and large codebase would still require about 1 month to get up to speed, and be able to really start contributing. This is true even at places like Google which has incredibly high hiring bars.If they wanted someone to be able to start contributing right away, they should have hired someone with a lot of experience with the framework already. They made a mistake in hiring you (not because you are not good enough, but because you didn't happen to already have a lot of experience with the framework). Also, don't worry about asking questions. A workplace where you cannot comfortably ask questions and have things patiently explained to you is not a healthy workplace. My very first supervisor was a Technical Director at Capcom (incredibly busy person), and he still patiently answered hundreds of my questions (whenever I was able to track him down at least).Maybe try going for a bigger company? Usually they won't give you so much responsibility from the start, because they can afford to spend some time on ramping up people.

I recently got a job offer in Hyderabad in HITEC City. I'm thinking of buying a flat 2 bhk. What are decent areas to buy it in? It should not be more than 30 lakhs, or if not, for rent. How is public transport?

You can search areas like Miyapur, KPHB, JNTU, GachiBowli, Manikonda etc. These places are good residential areas and near to Hitec city. If your budget is 30 lakhs, you can search in Miyapur, KPHB and Manikonda. But my suggestion is, don't believe the prices mentioned online websites. Go and visit the places personally. If you want to purchase second-hand flats, try to see the age of the flat is not more than 5 years.

Is it true that walmart stopped drug testing?

Yes, for the most part. Certain positions still require testing such as auto technition and pharmacy positions and management, but most entry level positions do not require a pretty employment drug screen. Once you are hired you will still be subject to drug screening during certain time such as accidents, promotions, or even if there is reasonable suspicion.
