Got Song Stuck In My Head And Don

How do you get a song un-stuck from your head?

There is no definitive cure for cognitive itch:http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/scien... http://blogs.bu.edu/ombs/2011/10... More research seems to be centered on what causes it rather then what can cure it. It seems to be caused by something that has a familiar pattern but with an unusual twist, or something that requires resolution your brain can't provide. For example, Kylie's I-should-be-so-lucky,lucky,lucky,lucky... is perfectly designed to do severe psychological damage because of a combination of: insane levels of repetition, and a musically twisted hook that doesn't conform to the usual western changes you would expect in a song of it's nature. The repetition wares a groove in your thought patterns while the hook is really difficult to resolve in your head, after a while it starts to feel like one of those impossible 3D drawings that don't resolve.Damnit, now that bloody song is in my head!!However, the worst cognitive itch worms that get lodged in my ears tend to be stuff that I practice musically that I'm not happy with. I'll hear my own tortured, tired riffs in my head when I'm trying to focus on something unrelated. It's my personal hell.Replacing the song with another never works for me personally - my brain will happily accommodate multiple ear worms. The only cure with a high success rate for me is to listen to the song completely, from the beginning to the very end. Whatever unresolved aspect of the music that keeps it circling the airport seems to often get put to rest by doing this.

Why does a song get stuck in your head?

Technically, if something gets stuck in your head it means you enjoyed it and when it's not around to physically hear or see then your brain will replay it for you in your head (possibly to release endorphins or another pleasing hormone).

The only thing I don't understand is why all of the crap songs get stuck in your head.

Song stuck in my head, but what is it?

I have just a touch of this song stuck in my head bt i hav no idea wat song it is, its quite annoying and i must find out wat its called or i will have to smash my head against a bean bag lol

Do you also have the Baby Shark song stuck in your head?

What can I say? This is THE SONG that keeps playing all day on my TV, tablet, phone, and my children sing and dance to it the entire day. To be honest, I don’t mind letting them use the screen for 1 to 2 hours a day to be able to recover my daily brain and spare them my “CRAZY MOM” phase. But this song has taken it too far.Baby Shark has broken the record of Youtube hits by many professional singers. Talk about “Boss Baby”, Huh? Kids are going nuts over this song and they are taking parents like me, along to drown in craziness. But when to say STOP? My decision depends on the following:Are the videos kids are watching SAFE?Are they spending a LONG TIME on screen? Is there REALLY nothing else to do?Read more about it at Richa's blog | The quintessential mum next doorHappy parenting!RichaRicha's blog | The quintessential mum next door

Anime song STUCK IN MY HEAD?

I've had a song stuck in my head for a while now but I don't know what it is or where it's from. I'm fairly certain it's an anime intro. I know it's a long shot but I really don't know anything else I can do to find out what the song is. The song starts with just a mellow dude's voice singing with maybe a little piano behind it then the music starts. I know the first line after the music starts has a bit of an echo behind it. Again, I know it's a long shot but I just wanna get this damn song out of my head.

Songs don't get stuck in my head, is that normal?

This happens to me too, right now. I don’t remember the last time when a song, a melody, a motif tortured or delighted me for hours. But I am a musician, and I know, or at least I suspect why. All the melodies I heard in the last few months were known to me, or they weren’t good (or bad) enough. This is the best time for a composer to write new, original stuff that can stuck in other people’s head…

Why do I have a song stuck in my head that I really don't like? (Simply Irresistable - Robert Palmer)

You’ve actually got a lot of songs stuck in your head, both songs you like, and songs you don’t. Songs wouldn’t even exist if we didn’t have the capacity to absorb and store them. Some songs have bits are easier to absorb than others-we tend to call that “catchy”, but in the music biz, it’s called a “hook”, and it’s what songwriters shoot for.( it can be a musical phrase, too)Lyrical hooks tend to have strong rhythms and repetition of sounds. If you think about that phrase, “Simply irresistible” it’s got the repeating short “i” Long “e” thing, plus “pl”/“bl”, and a the kind of sing-song rhythm that small children like to repeat. And there’s the reason that it a)sticks with us and b) is annoying.Allan Lomax, the great collector and compiler of folksongs pointed out that songs didn’t become “traditional”(meaning that they were learned over and over, by succeeding generations) unless the appealed to children. So there it is.The psychologist really gives a “non-explanation”, which is that you knew it and something reminded you of it. Really?I call this, “Science discovers something everyone else already knows.”Anyway, what is even more annoying than having a song stuck in your head and driving you crazy, is having only part of a song in you head, and going crazy trying to remember the rest.Fortunately, now we have YouTube, so science is good for something after all:-)

How should I remove a song that gets stuck in my head?

Thanks for A2A!This is super annoying thing that happens with me too many times. I know only one thing to solve this issue which is to divert your attention to some other work but this too will not help many times. Then what I do is to make it my ring tone and alarm tone and after sometime I begin to hate it.Edit: As Monisha suggested, you can actually play the last part of the song a few times in your head it’s a psychological trick to stop the song and it helps most of the times!Hope this helps!Thank you.
