Groups/musicians That Are Popular In Korea

Why is Akdong Musician so popular in Korea?

Because they're young, they're a cute pair of siblings, they write their own songs, and Lee Soo hyun is not your typical skinny-shapey korean idol. Her voice is amazing too. and her brother is able to coordinate playing the ukelele/guitar and sing at the same time (sometimes even rap) Their rapping is also very cute hehe Give it a shot! :-)

Which Korean K-pop idol group is the most popular in Korea nowadays?

When it comes to Worldwide popularity , without a doubt BTS is the most popular group . But since you asked about Korea I'll say Bigbang . It has been around for more than 6 years ( I don't know much about it ) . They have had huge digital and album sales even after being around for so many years because in KPOP when new generation groups start rising the Older ones start getting forgotten or atleast their sales go down . But as for Bigbang it didn't really happen . Although the last time Bigbang released an album was in 2016 , they are still the most famous in Korea . I have seen some videos where people asked Korean citizens and all of them answered Bigbang . There are other very famous boy groups like TVXQ which was at it's peak around 2008 and it will make a comeback this year . I don't know whether they can rival Bigbang or not but they are really popular too . A lot of international fans don't know about them since most of them got into KPOP after 2012 or something like that and right now some TVXQ members are in military and will return soon to release more music .And then there is EXO , known as the Nation's Boy group . They have won a lot of daesangs and they are the most popular group in Korea among the groups of this generation ( that means excluding Bigbang and TVXQ) . I think BTS comes after these groups when it comes to popularity of Boygroups in Korea . 2ne1 and SNSD are the two famous girlgroups of the older generation . They were at the top around 2011 I guess . 2ne1 disbanded in 2016 and 3 members of SNSD left the group recently . Among the girl groups of this generation Twice is definitely the most popular . Their digital sales rival EXO and BTS as well . Below Twice , is Red velvet which started gaining a lot of success in 2017 .So to sum it up , Bigbang is the most popular in Korea , followed by TVXQ , SNSD , 2ne1 and EXO and then comes BTS .Now just to let you know what is going on in Kpop industry lately , these are the results of MMA , MAMA and GDA which are three of the biggest award shows :-*MMA* :-Best Artist :- EXOBest Song :- BTSBest Album :- IUGlobal Artist :- BTS*MAMA* :-Best Artist :- BTSBest Song :- TwiceBest Album :- EXOBest Boygroup :- Wanna OneBest Girlgroup :- Red Velvet*GDA*Grand Prize :- BTS

Is Hangeng [Super Junior] popular in Korea? If so how popular?

I can't read Chinese so I can't really read the article but the link has the world blog in it. I think the article itself seems it doesn't have much truth behind it. No offense to the writer but from your synopsis it seems more like an opinionated story.

Overall Super Junior is huge in Korea. Besides their elder group, DBSK, they are one of the leading K-pop musicians in Korea, actually much of Asia so rumors are always spreading around.

It has been seen in many interviews and shows that the members share a very brotherly relationship. In Korean, you call an older brother hyung. Hangeng is the third oldest members and you can actually the younger members call him that. I think that already shows respect from member to member. Most likely Kangin was just joking around with Hangeng. Just seeing his personality in shows many can tell that Kangin is a joker. I truly believe he wouldn't deliberately try to pull Hangeng out of the limelight.

It is true that Hangeng's Korean is actually quite poor lately since he's been in China. His popularity there is so high (I mean he was actually voted to carry the Olympic torch). I truly doubt though that any members would be jealous of him. Again he was not just made leader of Suju-M because he was Chinese. He is also the oldest amongst all of them. In Korea, it is easier for members to express things because they speak Korean while Hangeng has a harder time. In China he gets the chance to speak up and I'm sure members will be happy to give him that time. Hangeng isn't just a popular person for no reason. He's got talent and skills and hardwork. These qualities are seen highly for anyone so I believe that each member treats him with the right amount of respect. Sometimes they joke about his poor Korean but he does it too.

I think it's just rumors. For being such a huge and highly popular group, it's inevitable. Just keep to liking Hangeng and respecting him for his work and efforts. Super Junior couldn't be Super Junior without him. It couldn't be Super Junior without any of its members.

What is the first KPOP group in South Korea?

Seo Taiji and Boys was the first Kpop group. In 70’s - 80’s, Korea’s broadcast systems and songs were controlled by the government under a dictator, Park chunghee. All lyrics of songs had to be patriotic, so no one could try music with new influences such as Hiphop, R&B, etc. After the dictator’s assassination, Seo Taiji and boys debuted in 1992, performing b-boying, rapping, and wearing over-sized pants that was a defining moment that no one had ever seen that before. That was how the first Kpop started.Seo Taiji - nan arayo

What do North Koreans think about K-Pop like Psy?

North Koreans have their own girl band. In a desperate effort to please the latest generation of citizens, Kim Jong-un personally selected a group of around 20 young women for a musical group. They have allegedly locally achieved insane levels of popularity after an estimated 14 performances.Moranbong Band - Wikipedia

Is f(x) [Korean girl group] overrated?

Okay so they won Rookie of Year with only two songs : Chu & LACHATA
Sorry to say this but they kinda sucked....

And their new song NU ABO is alright...but it has no lyrical meaning...

Am I the only one who thinks they are overrated? Is it because they are under SM or because they're "pretty."

Give me your thoughts.
However, let me say this...Luna is so underrated; she can actually sing.
(She's the only one I like...)
Krystal can't sing very well tbh...and Amber can't rap...

Who is more popular, Beyonce or BTS (K-pop group) in general?

Come on, let's get serious here. BTS, a fairly new trend in America, compared to Beyonce, an amazing artist who’s conquered the music industry over almost 3 generations? Now, I love BTS as much as the next casual fan, but Beyonce is literally a legend, BTS may be trending in America right now, but the respect for them is just not there (at least in America). Beyonce has won numerous Grammys (22 to be exact, along with 63 nominations) and has a lot of respect from the entire world in general. 2 Billboard Awards for Best Social Artist just can't compare to that.BTS is a great group, don’t get me wrong, I'm not trying to hate or anything, but Beyonce is on another level of fame and respect that very few can gain. BTS is used as marketing ploys for American shows while Beyonce picks and chooses when she feels like going to a show in general, because anything with her is almost guaranteed to bring the house down.I'm just going to say it: Comparing BTS to Beyonce is the equivalent of comparing Michael Jackson to One Direction. It’s…no.

Why is the Korean song "Gangnam Style" so popular?

I'm an Asian-American (Filipino living in the US), and all my friends here love that song! Do we understand it? Hell no!! But the music video is so funny and catchy! Did I just answered my own question? lol

Who is the singer btw? I don't know him at all or what his showbiz career in Korea is.

With 56 million hits and growing, is he overwhelmed with this hit video? Does he have other hit videos? Or just this one?

Thanks for answering my questions!!
