No, it's not weird at all. Everyone has preferences that differ from one person to another. Skinny guys can like skinny, fat, & everything in between. If you are interested in the guy, then hang out with him & see where it goes. If he treats you right, then you know he likes you. So long as you're two consenting adults, it really doesn't matter (a 5 year gap isn't bad at all). I only added in that last sentence because I rarely see anyone over the age of 18 "picking on" someone they like...kind of immature. Anyway, good luck.
