Hair Highlights Suggestions

How do I highlight my hair?

this depends on your definition of “done”simplest way, spend time in the sunassisted simplest way, add lemon juice or hydrogen peroxide and spend time in the sun (lemons a more natural approach and result)the expensive and more damaging ways (salon ways)old way not often done anymore due to hair breakage: tufts of hair are pulled through holes in a form with a small crochet hook (that breaks the hairs) then these tufts are bleached (causing chemical damage)new way tufts of hair are wrapped in aluminum foil to separate them from the rest (this is also done to frost tips) with most wrapped except the parts you want lightened to highlight, bleach is used to lighten..no hair breakage but bleach still causes chemical damageeven the at home methods cancause some damage if the peroxides used to lighten too much, or the lemon juice is left in too long (lemon juice is a rather strong acid that penetrates the hair shaft, the pigment lies a few layers deep, which is where the bleaching occurs, but lemon juice can not only destroy the pigmentation, but slowly break down the hair itself from the insideit would take a great deal of overuse to cause serious harm however and simply putting a little here and there on small strands of hair then sitting in the sun then washing after is safe enough.. this is a more gradual and natural lightening method though the highlights don’t just appear suddenly, but instead gradually after a few times repeating the process (ps heat from a blow dryer can be substituted for sunlight, but since sunlight causes highlighting on its own, without the potential of heat damage its the better choice)

Any suggestions on changin my hair?

It's waist length and fairly straight, I was thinking about getting twist put in it but not sure. I don't want to cut it too short because I don't like short hairstyles, i want to keep it shoulder length, but what can I do to make my hair look different? I was thinking about dying it another color...

Highlights for strawberry blonde hair?

Any good highlight or lowlight suggestions for strawberry blonde hair?
My hair isn't extremely red, its almost a brownish/blonde.
I have light-ish skin, by the way.
Pictures would be great! :)

Thanks :)

Is selsun blue safe for highlighted hair?

They make a head and shoulders for color treated hair. It works well and will help preserve your color. Hope this helps.

Caramel highlights with dark brown hair?

I'm going to get some highlights in my hair by the hairdresser next week, and I have dark brown hair, do you think caramel is the best colour to put in? Or any other suggestions. And I was thinking of having lots of little highlights everywhere, what do you think?

Thanks so much!

By the way, I have green eyes, and olive skin.

What color highlights for light brown hair ?

If you want the natural look. Then u can get blonde highlights (strawberry blonde/ light blonde), or slightly darker brown > there's diff shades you can choose like a brown-reddish auburn/ dark auburn.

I think your idea of getting pink would be great, it depends on the shade you choose:

My hair has turned black after dying it, any suggestions?

Oh no. You need to shave your head :O

Is it ok to dye your hair with a highlight kit from home?

Dying your hair with a highlight kit is just like bleaching your hair with any hair bleach. You can do this with a bleach kit at home, no need to use the highlighting stuff (you probably wont have enoug to do your whole head unless you have short hair already). I've used highlight kits to bleach huge chunks of my hair, without using any foils or the cap. The best way to bleach it would be to go to sally beauty and get a bleaching kit, Manic Panic Flash Lightning Hair Lightening Kit is one I have used from there. The issue with doing your whole head tho is you're going to get noticeable roots, all over, and soon, and have to bleach your roots every 6 weeks or so. That can lead to damage and breakage, and you have to be really careful to not try to rebleach the already bleached hair. This is why most women will just do highlights instead, so roots are less noticeable. Also, you dont say what color your hair is already, but I guess blonde. Make sure you don't let your hair lighten past the pale yellow stage when bleaching, or you could wind up with white hair, which is one step away from breaking off at the root and turning into a gummy mess.
