Hair Styling Problem For Men And Women

Can women use Axe hair styling products?

Okay, so I'm a woman, and I have short hair. The last two products I've used to style my hair have been for women; however, I've not been very satisfied with the results from using them. I decided to look at the men's hair styling product section this time (seeing as they should have lots of great products for short hair styling). I found one that works very well: the Axe Messy Look styling gum. The only thing is, it smells strongly of Axe (you know, their typical manly scent). So, I have a dilema: I know women can use men's products, but should I use this in spite of the decidedly unfeminine scent because it works so well, or should I not use it because people will think it's weird for a woman to smell strongly of Axe? Comments, opinions, other products to try would be great!

Do you prefer men or women cutting your hair? Why?

This is an interesting question. I personally don't have a preference related to gender, but I am aware that this isn't true across the board. I think the reason it matters to people primarily relates to how they view human touch. If you're a woman who doesn't often experience nonsexual touch from men, I do think it would be easy to feel uncomfortable with having a man cut or style your hair. If you're a heterosexual man who primarily experiences touch as sexual, you might prefer to not to have your hair cut and styled by a man due to homophobia or homosexual confusion. In places where nonsexual touch among adults is uncommon, people may subconsciously frame this kind of touch as sexual, despite knowing it is not. Another way this can go is for a person to frame the touch as being motherly, in which case they tend to be more comfortable with a female stylist. So much depends on how you view touch in general. I used to be a massage therapist, so I am very aware of how common it is for people to feel uncomfortable being touched, especially by a virtual stranger. Setting has a lot to do with a person's comfort level. Many men who would never go to a chi-chi salon to have their hair cut by an effeminate man might be perfectly comfortable having it cut by a fatherly man at the local barbershop. Context is really everything for many people.Personally, I choose a stylist based on quality, price, and personality. The best stylist I have ever had was a black lesbian. I have thick, naturally curly hair, and she knew exactly how to cut and style it so that it didn't just look good, but that it would continue to look good, with minimal attention. She used to tell me, "Honey, don't ever let a white woman cut your hair. They won't know what to do with it." I laughed, but it turned out to be good advice to follow.

Can men use women's hair gel?

I ran out of hair gel, and all I have lying around in my house is my sister's "redken 9: blown away" blow dry hair gel. What's the difference between men's and women's hair gel? Also, can I use it without using blow dry? Will it work ok, or is there a difference between men and womens hair?

Help...hair problems after chemo treatment.?

Hi...I was diagnosed with breast cancer June '05, finished all treatment and my hair is coming in curly, dry and unmanageable...Any suggestions on what I can try? My hair used to be long, straight and silky. It's now a mess. I have had about 3 hair cuts...it's a frizzy dry mess. Thanks for any tips.

Hair problem - hairspray & straightening?

I use bare hairspray in my hair (shockwaves) everyday and straighten it most days. This is because I don't like it wavy (the straightening) and the wind messes it up (so i use hairspray). The only product I use (apart form hairspray) is head n shoulders damage rescue shampoo and conditioner. Im scared I will have hair loss or something when older. My hair is damaged, when i come out of the shower when it is washed or something (just clean - no products in such as hairspray) it is frizzy. not sticking up frizzy, just really rough and like frizzy down on my forehead. I need an alternative to all this hairspray, i used to use it excessively but now I try and keep it to a minimum. My hair just doesn't stay how i style it, i need something to hold it in place. How can i fix this? I don't want to use hairspray, I want my hair to stay how i style it (when brushed or something) without having to make it sticky and hard. how come all my friends hair doesn't lose shape or whatever without the use of hairspray? how can i fix the frizz? do i need something for straightening, such as anti frizz or something? please help me sort out my hair. any advice will be appreciated, except abuse.

oh yeah, im a 16 year old boy. However gay this may sound.. no. i am straight and know a lot of boys my age who straighten their hair. so if you have something abusive to say keep it to yourself yeahh :). and my hair is medium length for a boy. slightly longer side fringe and fairly short everywhere else. sort of like the avatar thing for my profile. cheeeeers

Is it true that women are usually not interested in men who have longer hair than theirs?

I am a girl, and personally, I LOVE men with long hair! And I love anything from shoulder-length hair to down-the-back on a man. I also know plenty of women who find long hair attractive on guys and in fact, one of my long-haired male friends has been in a loving relationship with the same girl for five years, and none of my short-haired male friends have ever had a relationship like that! ;)

Anyway, personally if I were you, I would grow your hair that length, because it's what you want to do! If some women don't like it, then it's their loss! You will definitely meet a girl who will not only like long hair, but will like you for you! ;).

(Oh some styling advice: If you do decide to grow your hair that long, make sure to take good care of it! ;))
