My aunt Called Child Services on me, out of spite...
what Should I expect them to do? What happened was, two days ago I called my grandma and aunt (they live together) and asked them if they would watch my son for a day. I wasnt feeling well, and my other aunt (the one that called CPS) found out my son was there and flipped out. She says I dump him off there and it has to stop. Which btw, he is not there all that often. So she wrote me a letter saying she called CPS and told them that my house was smelly and my son wasnt taken care of.... If this seems hard to believe, i understand, but she is crazy like this and has tried to take me from my mom and gave her own kids away before. She just hates happy people and IS this way....thats all i can say.... So what do they look for when they look at your house, I have nothing to hide, but I want to pass with flying colors.

Home Childcare Providers: Annoying Parents?
Thank you for your replies! I am seriously considering a meeting with this family to discuss the mother's constant distractions from the children in my care. It seems to me that this woman sits at her desk talking on the phone all day, calling me in between conversations. I'm very busy here! LOL. I am aware that parents have a right to call to check on their children, however this parent in particular has run up my cell phone bill to ridiculous proportions; calling in excess of 15 times per week during the day. And you're right, the tuition she pays is hardly worth it, as a matter of fact, she does flake out and "forget" to pay, or pay late, or pretend the child is sick to avoid paying. "SIGH". I have just about had it, and I look forward to filling her spot with a more responsible family.

I am all about training. Be prepared, right?If you are the kind of person who knows how to charge your iPod but doesn't know which end of the kid the diaper goes on, then yes get some help. There is a lot of tribal knowledge when it comes to taking care of babies, but like Mark Brown pointed out; the vast majority of it has to be learned on the job. There are some ways you can get a head start on your education though. I would suggest some other, more universal training to new or expecting parents:CPR - Specifically CPR for children. (BTW, if you haven't been certified in a while, a lot has changed.)Basic first aid. Can you ever know too much first aid? I don't think so.Botany. Seriously. Find out what plants you have around your house and growing in your yard are safe to eat and which ones aren't. A lot of ornamental flowers are poisons.Nutrition. Again, a lot has changed since you learned about the 4 food groups. Fitness. Parenting is hard work. You have to be in shape to do it properly.Childhood psychology. Kids are not little adults. They don't/can't act that way. You can learn how to trick them into becoming actual people with the proper training.Anger management. Children will make you crazy, best to learn to deal with it right now.Anything/everything else. Most things that make you a better person make you a better parent.
