Has Any Senior Citizen Found A Product To Whiten 77 Year Old Teeth

Senior citizen discounts toward utility bills?

You have to call each of the utility companies that serve your parents
home or apartment. Each utility company has their own policies and
programs. We have used a program for the telephone company for
low incomed seniors. And we paid a flat fee of $10.00 each month.
With the electric company we had to pay for their service for several
months, before we qualified for a special senior program. We paid one
flat fee every month of the year. If we paid in more than we used, we
would get a small refund at the end of that year. We never found a
program for the water/sewage system, however. Nor for the waste
management/garbage pick up. But at least, two companies were of
help and we appreciated that. Since every company is different, you]
have to do the calling to find out. No one here can possibly give
you the info you seek. Especially not knowing where your parents
live.

Senior Citizens, how do you like my thought?

More or less. I think you can have an intellectual understanding of what seniors go through, but until you experience it for yourself you cannot really "know" what it's like to go through this aging process. There are a whole slew of things that have to be worked out when we reach the senior plateau. I always liked talking to elderly people, especially vets from WW1 and WW2 and Korea. I heard one guy speak of what he endured on the Bataan Death March. My ex-wife's grandfather told me what it was like fighting in trench warfare in the Ardennes during WW1. One old fellow told me how he met Ronald and Nancy Reagan, and when Regan got elected President he sent the old guy a flag that flew at the White House. But they also told me about having to deal with Social Security and Medicare. Of having to sell their homes because they couldn't afford to pay the real estate taxes any longer. They also told me about their aches and pains and the high cost of medicine, even with Medicare. And they told me about how they felt about being in a nursing home. It was like being incarcerated for the crime of getting old. None of these things can we truly understand until it creeps up on us and we find we are now in their number.

Senior Diabetics: How do you stretch your food dollars each month?

My friend, I feel your (hunger) pains. I too have diet restrictions. And keeping a roof over my head and filling my tummy also, is no easy task.
I have found online a group called "www.angelfoodministries.com "
They are across the country and often distribute through churches.
They ask no financial questions. There is no religious affiliation, preaching etc. They encourage everyone to to order food regardless of income.. They have many choices including a general box .For approx$30.00. They claim it contains about $60.00 worth of food and with a few additions feed a family of four for a week. They have special boxes of meat only. Boxes of fruits and veggies.Boxes of after school snacks. MOST importantly for some seniors, they have prepared boxes of meals. Heat and eat. I have mentioned just some ,there are many. There is no limit on how much you can purchase and they even accept food stamps. Get 10 friends to apply and they give you a bonus. Each month the menus change. I do not know about diabetic foods but check. Good luck! Maybe I'll see you there.

What is something that people were better at 100 years ago?

They were better at living frugally, and cooking economically since there was a limited number of ingredients.During and after WWI there was scarcity of food in many countries. People were inventive and they came up with different recipes in order to survive and avoid further food shortages. They mostly relied on potatoes and other vegetables, wheat and corn, but the general advice was, at least in the UK, to reduce the amount of bread eaten per family because there were wheat shortages. [1]Unlike today, people in the 1910’s threw away minimal amounts of food. Here are some of the dishes from the 1910’s. All recipes can be found here[2]. Not bad at all considering a very limited number of groceries. Besides, food back then was healthier (less sugar, not processed) which is also a plus.Cheese and Lentil SavouryPea soupWar cake made without eggs.Better hairsyles. Ordinary women wore more complex and intricate hairstyles and it seems they put more effort into looking great on ordinary days. I'm not sure if getting the perfect hairstyle is worth so much time, but the 1918 hairstyles were more sophisticated than today. Of course, they may seem completely out-of-date now, but compared to the present everyday hairstyles, there was at least a greater variety to choose from.Fashion. It's the same thing as with hairstyles. Fashion was taken more seriously, and clothing items looked more timeless and more elegant than today. It's a broad generalization, I know, but please compare the two pictures and think about which items would look better to wear on a formal occassion. If you wonder where I took the photos from, just Google Fashion trends 2018 and voila!Children had more fun, spent way more time outdoors and very way more physically active than today. If we forget about the scarcity of food and medicines in some places and the war, children were physically fitter and probably more emotionally stable than today. There were no computer addictions, child obesity wasn't a thing and there weren't so many problems with concentration. In 1910’s and 1920’s……and today.Thank you for reading.https://www.europeana.eu/portal/...Footnotes[1] Waste Not, Want Not – Recipes from the First World War - Shropshire Remembers WW1[2] On The Home Front: Original Wartime Recipes from The Great War 1914 to 1918

What is the best thing that you learned today?

I was travelling in Ola. It was going to be an hour of travel. So as usual I took out my phone.Google Maps was open. So just for timepass, I decided to fly over the world for free. Satellite view was on by default. After flying over Pakistan, I decided to surf through Egypt, to find pyramids without typing, just by zooming in and out. Then after zooming a bit, something peculiar caught my eye.I zoomed in a bit more, and I saw this. Now I was like, wtf is this?? What could this place be? Some secret US arms/nuclear base hidden by pixelation? Or some alien colony? (Okay, that goes too far)I eagerly kept zooming in till it couldn't be zoomed anymore. It seemed like a circular lawn. Nothing explanatory was found even after long pressing on various points of this area on map.So finally I “google-imaged” these screenshots. And that's when I learnt that these circles are actually farmlands and this type of farming is called,Centre Pivot Irrigation.also called water-wheel and circle irrigation, it is a method of crop irrigation in which equipment rotates around a pivot and crops are watered with sprinklers. (that's word to word Wikipedia)A circular area centered on the pivot is irrigated, often creating a circular pattern in crops when viewed from aboveThis technique was invented by farmer Frank Zybach, from Colorado. It is recognized as an effective method to improve water distribution to fields.Benefits:Less laboriousLesser or nearly zero soil erosion and land tilling is not involved.Challenges:High amount of water required, which results in depletion of ground water sources.High costs involved in transportation and other maintenance. So a mere timepass turned into an accidental GK enhancement session.Source: Google Maps, Google, WikipediaImage source: Phone screenshots, Google

Why do people go to the trouble to post questions?

Many times people post questions in here, not just to ascertain facts concerning a certain dilemma, but also in the hope that someone will be able to offer their opinion on the matter in question. Hence, they are looking for something beyond the facts germane to a question. They also want to get a feel for the public sentiment concerning a particular topic or issue.

That’s why I think they should change the name of Yahoo Answers to something like Yahoo Answers & Opinions or Yahoo Views.

Of course an alternate reason as to why people ask questions on here, which are easy to find using a Google search, is because they like to assess the public knowledge of a particular issue. A lot of people get a kick out of how little people know about subjects that should be common knowledge. If you ever watch the "Tonight Show" with Jay Leno, and his segment called "Jay Walking" you know what I am talking about. He ask simple questions like "Who was the 1st President of the United States?" just to see if there are people out there who are so ignorant that they wouldn't know the answer.

I have to admit that some of the responses I have read, and some of the questions I have reviewed on Yahoo Answers are worthy of a comedy sketch in their own right.

What are the major differences between Chinese and Western cultures?

I'll list down a few differences:Western culture:1. Western culture is based on individualism rather than on mass  (collectivism). For instance, in the US, you always talk about individual  rights, instead of placing the whole society above your own self. This is  clearly different in China where a country, society or family are placed above  your own self.2. Western culture is adventurous and exploration based. Westerners like to  discover new things, invention and expand outwards. For instance, bungee jumping  is considered adventurous and common in western culture, but you will probably  find no-one doing such a thing in China.3. Western culture is based on science, which attempts to resolve people and  nature's relationship.4. West uses law to resolve people and people's relationship. You can never  find 'law' well-established in China. For 2000 years, China is a land that's  based on human relationship rather than law.5. West uses 'god' and religion to resolve human and spiritualism  relationship. In case of problems with your own self, you just pray to god.6. A culture that expands and develop outwards.Chinese Culture:1. A culture based on masses (collectivism). People placed country and family  above your own self.2. A culture that is based on humanism and people3. To resolve the relationship betwen man and nature, the chinese attempts to  fuse the human and 'heaven' as one. (天人和一)4. To resolve people and people's relationship, chinese uses ethics and  tolerance (中恕之道)5. To resolve human and spiritualism, chinese emphasizes internal cultivation  (修身养性)6. A focus on balance and mean. By 'mean', it means 'middle way'. You don't  go into extremism. Peace is always honoured.7. Pay homage to heaven and earth, as well as bearing a remembrance to the  homeland. (敬仰天地,思乡怀土) This was accorded to the fact that chinese had been a  farming civilization and therefore will be more prone to remember their  land.8. A culture that expands internally rather than outwards. Some of the disadvantage of old chinese culture:1. Debase women and chauvanistic2. An over-emphasis on past history instead of present (lacks pragmatism)Any comments is appreciated.
