Has anyone had a tax refund deposit on a Saturday?

I filed with Tax Act - the IRS WMR site says my refund was deposited to my bank on 1/29 - it wasn't. It was deposited to Republic Bank (The bank Tax Act goes through to deduct fee's) on 1/27 and Republic Bank claims they released the funds to the Federal Reserve to send to my bank on 1/28 so does anyone know if I have any chance of seeing a refund on Saturday at all? Republic Bank said it can take up to 4 days.. anyone know if that's 4 business days or just 4 days period? This is soooo disappointing :(

Does a state tax refund take longer to get back than a federal?

I'm from ND and I finled my taxes by E-file. I've received my federal refund on Good Friday, but I haven't gotten my state back yet. Has this happened to anyone else? I checked my status on our state tax commissioner website and it says it's been received and being processed. Do state refunds usually take longer than a federal?

How can you cash a check on Bank of America?

If the check is written on an account at the Bank of America they will cash the check but you need to have a good photo ID and if anything is questionable they may hold the check for a period to make sure it clears but the odds are they will just cash it.If the check is written on a different bank but you have an account at the Bank of America they also will cash the check. If you don’t have an equal amount of cash in your account they will possibly hold the check for 24–72 hours before giving you the cash. If your account has more than that in the account you would most likely be able to get the cash immediately. If the check is not written on the Bank of America and you don’t have an account there then they will most likely not cash the check.

Why did my debit card refund take 2 weeks? My bank pointed the finger at the retailers, while the retailers claimed it was both the bank and the credit card company holding up the refunds.

There are a few different possibilities but the most likely cause of the delay falls on the merchant's side of the equation. From a purely technical perspective, a debit card refund can be processed just as fast as a debit card purchase transaction, which will be reflected in your checking account balance immediately and with transaction details in 1-3 days. Once the merchant completes processing ("settlement") of the refund transaction, everything else is automated so its not likely that your bank did anything to delay posting to your account. However, whereas the original purchase transaction ultimately resulted in a credit to the merchant's account, the refund transaction took money out. Accordingly, the merchant must: a) Have sufficient funds in his account to cover the refund, and b) Be motivated to process your refund quickly. If either is not true, the merchant may elect to delay settlement. Visa operating rules require the merchant to complete settlement within five calendar days from the date the refund is requested by you and authorized by the merchant (e.g. the date you return the product to the store and get a return receipt) and MasterCard requires settlement within one day. If you made your purchase at a major merchant, there's no good reason for a delay of two weeks but, if you're not satisfied with the service, you can complain to the merchant or the card network (i.e.. Visa, MasterCard) that placed its logo on your card but I doubt that there's much to be gained from that sort of complaint and, therefore, wouldn't recommend that you spend any more of your valuable time pursuing one.

How long does it take for a h&r tax refund to be direct deposited?

Forever and a day it seems like!!! I did mine at H&R Block on 1/12 (They put it on hold till the 30th so they said) I Started checking the WMR site on 1/31 and nothing showed up so I finally called H&R Block on the 2nd to see if their was an issue. I was told there was no issue on their end just to wait the 21 days... So I checked one or two days later(2/3-2/4 not sure) and it finally said processing and its been there ever since. While others that filed later are getting their refunds after a lot of us that filed early in the year and still haven't received our refund because it got help up in some back log. I logged on to H&R Block last night and it said that the IRS didn't get my return till 2/5. So in reality its only been 5days. Im not very happy that I filed early and paid the amount I did and people that just filed a few days ago are already receiving their money. Just doest seem very fair to me. From everything I can see we should be receiving ours around the 18th if you were excepted on or around 2/5... some got DD dates of 2/28 so who knows at this point. The Government is gonna do what its gonna do, they have proven that already! Im also not sure I will use H&R Block again either! Not Very Trustworthy! Good luck Hope you get yours soon!

How serious a crime is it to cash someone else's check?

It’s several very serious crimes and depending on the circumstances could land you in jail for quite some time. Theft, forgery, identity theft, conversion, are a few crimes I could name. It could also involve additional charges if for example, it was stolen out of the mail.I know someone who actually did this and did go to jail. He and a pal worked in the mailroom of a company and his pal convinced this somewhat slow-witted man that it would be easy to simply steal money orders out of the mailroom.Of course, when people’s bills weren’t paid and merchandise wasn’t sent they went back to the bank for proof of payment and were easily able to establish where the money was stolen and by whom. The man got two years in prison, had to pay back every dime, and had court costs as well. So, he lost two years of his life, damaged his ability to earn money in the future, and received nothing for his trouble but bills. Not only did he have to pay the funds back, but he had to pay back several times what he stole.

Can I cash a check with someone else's name on it in the US?

Yes, you can cash a check with someone else's name on it in the US, and this is called a 3rd party check. You would ‘counter-sign’ the check. That is to say, the person whose name is on the check would endorse it or ‘sign it over to you’. They would sign the back of the check, and then you would sign it, and then the bank would cash it for you, or technically they would more likely deposit the check into your account and then give you cash up to the amount of the check’s value IF you have that amount of money in your account to ‘cover’ the amount of money they are handing you. That amount would likely have a hold against it in your account for a couple of days. The hold policy would be something your bank would decide. Some banks may allow up to a certain amount of money to be credited for the check immediately, not incurring a hold for checks up to some limit they set. They are managing their liabilities in this way, limiting the possible amount they could lose if the check, or the signature comes out as invalid. When it comes to whether a store or check cashing business would let you cash third party checks, that is up to how much risk they wish to take on, and their own policies for such things. At this point, a lot of places will say, no, that is too much risk, and they will say to take it to a bank. Think of it like this; for every party involved the risk grows. If you were to take your own paycheck to a check cashing business you would likely be signing the back of the check and handing it over to them, making it a third party check (you, your employer, and the check business) they would then be endorsing it too and depositing it. If that check were someone else's, signed over to you and then deposited by the check cashing business it would have 3 endorsements on the back, making it a 4 party check. The more parties, the more risk. Here is a pretty good article with more information about 3rd party check's, and a nice list where you can cash them.Disclaimer: the opinions expressed here are my own, and in no way do they represent those of my employer, nor do the represent any official communication or policy from my employer.
