Has Anyone Ever Had Complications With Extracted Teeth Stiff Sore Neck After Infection

I have a wisdom tooth infection, I was prescribed Penicillin 500mg. The swelling and the pain are increasing.

if you have any further complications dear then don't hesitate to call your dentists !

I m sorry it is hurting you but the penicillin isn't for pain it is just for the infection ,so you need to take some over the counter medication for the swelling and soreness, sore throat.
you Throat is sore due to the glad their at your tooth that is causing pressure most likely course I'm not a DR !

Hopefully if you go right now and take some pain med you will feel better soon and cont to take them every 3-4 hrs as the pain will keep coming back unless you do.
However if you have to have your tooth extracted in 2 days don't take any pain meds containing aspirin as this may cause you too bleed alot the day of your surgery!
Like Ibuprofen or Aspirin or aspirin based!
I thinly Tylenol or Al eve should be OK just read the bottle directions to see what it contains !

God bless and feel better soon!

Ear hurts 3 weeks after wisdom teeth extraction? whole side of face is sensitive. plz help, this hurts a lot!?

ok 3 weeks ago i had all 4 of my wisdom removed. after the first week, everything was fine and dandy. no complications. this is all on my right side of my face. my ear, jaw, throat (only on the right side) down to my neck all are sore and still and my ear is sounding dull and there is a ringing in it too. no pain killers seem to be helping, maybe a little, or just enough so i can sleep. been getting worse for 3 days now. just steadily getting worse and worse. the pain is starting to give me a headache. i also have a slight stuffy nose. which is also new. now the spot of the lower right of my mouth from where that tooth was removed, its swollen and very very sensitive, even to just a tongue touch. the right side of my throat feels like i have strep, but i know i dont because in that case both sides of my throat would be sore and scratchy. all the teeth on the side (all the molars) are sensitive to chewing too. this has become such a pain and agonizing pain, i dont know what to do.
also, im going on vacation in 2 days for a week. what can i do? and why is it hurting so bad???

Has anyone ever heard of wisdom teeth growing in sideways?

My husbands wisdom tooth is doing this and he has to have oral surgery to have the tooth removed. The x-ray showed the tooth growing in sideway and there are a lot of nerves in the jaw. If you heard or know about this how long does it take to remove the tooth and healing time and how common is this?

Has anyone ever died from tooth decay?

Thousands die yearly worldwide and that is an underestimate. In the USA there are approximately 10 deaths per year due to infections that systemically spread from teeth. The origins of the infections is dental decay that had progressed to involve the tooth nerve causing a localized dental infection that when not properly treated spreads to somewhere else in the body.Do you want names? Here are three that should not be forgotten. I try and make sure my students remember remember them too so they can put a face and a name to make it more relevant that dental decay can kill you.Deamonte Driver, 12, Maryland, 2007. Abscessed teeth due to dental decay, parents could not afford the cost of an extraction as they had no insurance and their Medicaid benefits had been lost. Infection spread to his brain and despite two operations and 6 weeks of in-hospital care ($250 K worth) he died.Larry Willis, 24, Cincinnati, 2011. Infected wisdom tooth. Erupted and carious. Could not afford to have it extracted. When the infection spread beyond the tooth to involve his fascial spaces, he went to emergency. He was given a prescription for antibiotics and analgesics. He chose to kill the pain with analgesics because the antibiotics cost too much. The infection killed him.Vadim Anatoliyevich Kondratyuk, 26, Sacramento, 2017. Long distance trucker. He had an untreated decay and an infection and stopped in Oklahoma to get diagnosed and get some antibiotics. They didn’t work and by the time he got to NYC he could not make the drive back to California. His brother flew to NY to drive him and his truck home. His breathing started failing in Utah and he was air ambulanced to Salt Lake City for high dose antibiotics and dialysis. He still died due to septicaemia and lung involvement. Cavities. There are children who die each year under general anaesthetic because their dental decay is so extensive. Not directly but if the children do not have rampant caries, they do not undergo GA. Others have been rendered into vegetative states because of anaesthesia mishaps that would not have occurred if they were not being put to sleep for dental decay. It is a crime that children have to be put to sleep to have their teeth fixed. I regularly treated two generations of the same families in the OR.

Why did removing my wisdom teeth cause neck pain?

It could be related to your mouth , the opening width , and , the length , or shortness of your neck .The location of the teeth , the force required to extract , them , any resistance , if you were awake during the work , or if you were unconscious , the positions your dentist had to put your head in to complete his work. You may have developed a misalignment , while asleep , a lot of people complain of waking up with a “ Crick in the Neck “ after sleeping in their own bed , nothing different in habits , just woke up that way.

I have a major infection in my tooth and jaw. It has spread into my neck and thought making it hard to swallow

Hi there! My name is Angela, and I am an Intern Dentist.
Yes, removing a tooth while infection is present can be very harmful! Now, how long have you been on the antibiotics? The antibiotics can take up to 7 to 10 days before you see results. Sometimes it can take longer, depending on the severity of the infection! You said that it spread to your neck" -the infection itself?, or the pain? Severe pain in the teeth, generally can spread to the jaw and neck area. Now, if the infection itself reached your inner neck, than this is more serious than an infected tooth. Untreated infection may cause blood poisoning, and many other problems! Call your dentist, and explain the symptoms that your are experiencing now, because a new x-ray may need to be taken, to see if the infection did indeed spread to the neck! Do not waste any time! Get this taken care of!!ASAP! Infection is a serious illness and should be taken care of quickly!- as for the other problems it can cause? - Take care of this situation first then I am sure you will feel better knowing that the other risks were prevented! Good luck! and I hope that this answer helped you some!!!

Wisdom tooth jaw pain, headache after 5 days of extraction?

It doesn't sound like dry socket or infection. But it does sound like normal bruising (in the jaw bone and gums) and post op pain. You can have the pain for up to 2-3 weeks post extraction (sorry, that doesn't help!), especially if the extraction was a difficult one. Or if the roots were 'fish-hooked' or 'j' shaped. and even if you were on antibiotics, that doesn't necessarily mean that there was no active infection. It just means the infection was being controlled. So if there was (even a little bit) of infection in there, it could cause pain post-op.

The pain will go away (I promise!) but in the meantime, just keep doing what you're doing. Also, make sure you get proper nutrition (take a multi-vitamin if you have to). It's a key element in healing. also, stay well hydrated.

Wish I could tell you there was more you can do but there really isn't. It sounds like you're doing everything right. Tooth extractions are a surgery and cause trauma (just like other surgeries) so it takes time to heal.

Why do I get headaches after a tooth extraction?

It can feel like your whole head hurts after a tooth is extracted! It really is no fun.A headache, unfortunately, is not uncommon. You can get a headache due to a number of reasons. The actual extraction can be the main source of your pain. The injections, the pressure, the pushing and pulling, can cause trauma to your facial structures. Due to this trauma, you will have a headache. Some people who are sedated for the extractions get a headache when they regain full consciousness. After an extraction, patients are not able to eat properly and hunger can cause a headache as well.Your oral surgeon should give you some pain meds. Take them regularly and around the clock if needed. This will help with headaches and with post-extraction pain. Take antibiotics if prescribed so that you don’t get an infection. It’s tough for the first few days but you should be feeling better and better every day.If the pain intensifies or is debilitating, consult your surgeon. She will know what to do.

Why does my jaw hurts after a tooth extraction?

Many reasons. The trauma of removing a tooth tears the gums and expands the bone in the jaw.If you mean by jaw your jaw joint. Then possibly th pressure put on that joint during the extraction inflamed the joint causing pain. You could have an infection which require antibioticsYou could have a dry socket which mean the bone in the socket where the tooth was has not healed because of lack of blood flow most common in smokers. You could have food stuck in the socketYou could just be wimpy-just kidding hope you feel better soon. How can I treat pain in my throat after having my wisdom teeth removed?

Take some pure honey and put it in milk, stir and drink, honey is a anti septic to. Also you can try warm water with some salt, stir and then gargle in your mouth. Then spit out after gargling. Also try to get your hands on fisherman friends, very good throat lozengers or any other lozengers will soothe your throat. Take a couple of Iburofen or Paracetemold. Hope you get better, regards.
