Has Anyone Used Identigene Home Paternity Test

Has anyone used the at home paternity testing kit?

The father of my child has doubts that he is the father. She is 4 months old and he has only seen her 3 times. I told him to get a dna test if it will help him develop a relationship with our child. He got a kit from walgreens and you just send in the kit. He did the test and sent it in. He got a call a few days later saying that he needs the guardian's signature before they can perform the test on a minor. Has anyone else used this kit and received a call saying that they need the mother's signature?

Anyone used Identigene at home Paternity Test!!?

i need people who have actually used the product to please answer.
I want to know.. what it involves. Do you just do the swab and send it off.? Do you fill out information about the father and the parent and the child? Do they need names of the people getting tested and such? and would you have to put your actual name?
Im doing a 'fake case' for a law class and really really need some help with this.
Also is there a way to cheat the test..such as
Ex: A is NOT the father of B
C IS the father of D.
if you were trying to get the results for A and B...could A swab the mouths of C and D because he'll know they match and send it off as his own?
Thank you for your time. I really appreciate it

Identigene Paternity test (RiteAid) home Kit. Anyone Use this? Need opinions. Please : )?

Ok I purchased a paternity test and my results finally came back today. Now its Strange because my son looks like my ex fiance. And Many Friends and family members believe that my ex is his father. Well I went with Identigene because it was affordable. Instead of having my ex tested, i had the other guy tested. The test came back that the other guy was not excluded from being the father. I called my sister and She told me to get a second opinion....

Also i was a bit confused by this part of the test. It said: The combined parentage index is 70,217,000 (corresponding to a probability of paternity of 99.9%, assuming prior probability = 0.5)
and indicates that these genetic data are 70,217,000 times more likely if _____is the Biological father of ________than if an untested, unrelated white man is the biological father. The Genetic analysis excludes at least 99.99% of white men from paternity.

Anyone tried this company at all? Anyone trust this company? I was thinking of sending in another kit with different names on it instead to see how accurate it really is. the kit was only 30$ and the lab fee's were only 119$

About identigene paternity test?

Does anyone know how the walgreens paternity test work?

its come with the things to use to swab the mouth of the people you are planning on testing so you would do that then but the swabs in a closed container and mail it of to a testing center with the money needed to test (the will tell you the location and how much in the package) and with in a certain amount of time (it will also tell you how long in the package) the will mail you a letter telling you the result the results are just as accurate as goin some where and getting it done and the paper will even tell you how accurate it was or it may even say on the package but most are 99.9% good luck

Is the Identigene at home paternity test accurate or even a good test?

Yes, it's one of the kits I recommend all men use to check on the paternity of their children. It's not court admissible, but it's cheaper than the clinical version. Stats show that 30% of paternity tests done by court order come out negative.

If it comes out positive, write me on how to more easily resolve all the legal issues without increasing the fortunes of attorneys.

What kind of paternity test should I get?

A-to-A, not a “scientifically trained expert” to be fair (other people are paid to do the science part in my work) but I can address the legal implications of the question.Paternity tests that “can’t be used in court” are just that, inadmissible if there is ever a need to make a legal determination of paternity. Most likely the main reason for this is the lack of an appropriate chain of custody. You mail in the results instead of having them couriered; the lab is not agreeing, for that $ 100, to do any extra work to verify them. So the reason you want the test would be a factor with overwhelming importance in your decision. Note Holly Elmore’s answer. If the lab does not provide that “chain of custody” and (if demanded) expert testimony explaining the test, it’s a whole lot cheaper of course.I can’t speak to the “reliability” of the non-admissible tests, though in a couple of cases we saw people who did the home tests and then ended up coming into court for official tests and the results were the same.In the United States, you should be able to go to court for a determination of paternity and get the court to have the test done, this is a service provided under the Title IV-D program relating to assistance collecting support.† One other answer suggests that this is more expensive than having it done on your own, but given the figures in the question I don’t think that would be the case. I work for the county IV-D agency and we use DDC, which charges us $ 18.95 per person, which is $ 56.85 for mom, dad, and baby. There might be a court filing fee (we don’t have one in our county but a neighboring county charges $ 40 for this). It’s still way less than $ 500, and I think this is likely the cheapest and most conclusive way to do it. This will also result in a legal determination regarding paternity.† You don’t have to file for support at the same time. If a support case is filed, and paternity is established, the cost will be taxed to the defendant, and if paternity is excluded, the cost will be taxed to the mother, and otherwise the parties can pay it as they may agree between themselves.

Why are these home Paternity DNA Test Kits like Identigene sold as a solution to families? Clearly, these Patenity tests are creating mass hysteria and destruction to families (see below)

The USA has no laws governing DNA tests at the moment, so it’s “buyer beware”. Users need to review the test company before using it. Unfortunately, all the reviews I could find online were either openly written by Identigene, or were posted as some different name like dnacenter but then the website revealed it was written by Identigene. You get what you pay for, my mother always said. Maybe you should go to a professional medical lab for a paternity test, despite the higher price. There are always people who complain, no matter how good the product or the restaurant or the movie may be, so it’s difficult to tell whether Identigene, the DNA paternity test in your attached article, is seriously flawed or whether people have occasionally run into flaws in the way the tests were handled. No test is perfect. Statistically, is Identigene usually correct? The complaints seem to date from 2011. On the other hand, the Better Business Bureau gives it a D- rating on one site due to wocomplaints that weren’t promptly handled.

Can a paternity test be wrong? My son is the spitting image of his father and the result was 0%.

Yes. A Paternity test can be wrong. If the samples was logged into the laboratory incorrectly is one possibility but most likely not the case. Accredited laboratories have a very strict and efficient process of the intake and handling of DNA samples. This is not to say an error could not occur but the chances are very small.Another possibility is the facility where your samples were collected mishandled your samples. If the collection was performed correctly the participants should have witnessed the sealing of their samples.Another possibility is the child could be what is known as a chimera. A chimera in the scientific sense is a person that has two different DNA . In other words, the person would be its own fraternal twin lodged into one body. The term Chimeras can also be used when describing people who are A/B blood type.In order to find out whether a child is a Chimera you will need to find a genetics lab that performs this type of chimera identity test. It is important to note, DNA Paternity Labs from my understanding can Test for Paternity if a one party already knows that a participant is a chimera. But, without this knowledge your DNA samples will be analyzed as usual which is according to the labs protocol.Nonetheless, I suggest you do some research if you believe the child maybe a chimera.Another possibility is epigenetic imprinting. Basically, when the environment influences the DNA. What is not spoken about much is a mother may fancy another man who is in her presence very often and she may not have been intimate with this man but she may privately wish her child had this man’s qualities. Of course this is assuming the mother is aware she is pregnant. This type imprinting from the mother to a child I have seen happen quite a bit in the last 13yrs.Last, possibility is the mother slept with two men within 3–5 days of each other where the other man who she may not have taken as seriously sperm was stronger than the man who she was in a serious relationship with. Hence, the man she was not in the relationship with may have similar features to the man she is in the relationship with.I hope this was helpful.

How reliable are the IDENTIGENE DNA test?

I work with paternity testing for 7 years now (not in Identigene) and I can assure you: mistakes with a DNA test only can happen due human mistakes (so not the test it self). That´s why the labs usualy have lots of procedures to avoid this. There is two important steps on a paternity test: the sample collection and the lab processing. About the lab (identigene), it is one of the largest and sofisticated labs performing paternity tests in the world. I personaly know some people from there. So I really doubt they can let happend such kind of mistake. They are AABB certificated, wich is a very important quality certification.
The other step is the sample collection, which is done by you self. If you swab the right persons, and didn´t contaminated with anyone elses DNA (like touching the swab), the collection was right.
VERY IMPORTANT: did you child was fed with breast milk within one hour prior the sample collection?
The milk in the childs mouth can contaminate the sample with the mothers DNA, which will lead to a wrong result.
If you follow all the collection procedure in the instructions, your test is probably right (I´m sorry).
Please feel free to ask anything else.
