Has Anyones Ip Address Changed Recently And Not Told

What can you tell me about IP address ranges?

I am trying to determine the host ranges and broadcast addresses for 2 Subnet ID's as well as the what the IP addresses would be for 6 devices on the network. Here is the information I have Please tell me if I am correct or where I have gone wrong.

IP address: 192.168.2.1/24

1st Subnet: 192. 168.2.0 /25
Host Ranges:192.168.2.1-192.168.2.126
Broadcast Address 192.168.2.127

2nd Subnet: 192.168.2.128/25
Host Ranges: 192.168.2.129-192.168.2.254
Broadcast Address: 192.168.2.255

The six devices needing IP address assigned:
Router(LAN facing)
Default Gateway IP
Server
Printer #1
Printer#2
Terminal 1
Terminal 2

I have 2 routers but the 2nd Subnet addresses for the clients to use in a secured wireless environment. So I am assuming all business hardware would use IP addresses that fall within the 1st Subnet Range. Do i just pick any addresses with in the range or do they have to increment and if so how do I figure out how much they increment by? Thank You in advance for all responses.

Anyone know how to change the IP address on a Xerox 8830 pinter?

Most likely you just need to print out the config or test page from the printer. This will tell you what the current IP address is already programed.

Once you know the IP address, make sure the printer is connected to your network, then open your web browswer and type the IP address in the address bar. This should bring you to the printer's configuration page which will allow you to make changes.

If for some reason you can not access the printer from your web browser, try resetting the printer back to the factory default. This is usually done by pressing and holding one of the buttons down while powering on the unit.

Does a smart phone have a permanent IP address?

I am in the middle of a custody dispute and my ex-husband has been sending me nasty emails. The problem I'm having is that the emails don't sound like him. I know that he works all day, he works for the Army, so if he was sending these emails it would have to be from his phone. When I checked out the header on the emails they all have the same IP address (which IP locators tell me is somewhere about 1500 miles from where either of us live) Is there an explnation for this that I'm missing? I was under the impression that smart phones did not have permanent IP addresses. Based on the info I have it would seem that all of the emails I'm getting are coming from the same computer (and I doubt he can access his civilian email from a military computer) so I am guessing that it is his wife (who the emails sound more like) that is sending these emails from their home computer.

Based on what I've described could anyone give me an idea of some possible explanations, or verify if my hunch is correct that it is not him sending these emails from his phone? Thanks.

What is the difference between ethernet address and IP address?

An IP address is just a pointer to a location on a network. Whether that be a local network, or the internet. When you say "ethernet address", I'm assuming you refer to your IP address on your local area network.

There are 3 groups of reserved IP address space for private networks, these cannot be used as an internet IP. They are:
10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255
172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255

So your Ethernet IP is the address of your computer on your local network. Other computers and devices on the network will have a similar IP. For example a common one is to have 192.168.1.1 as your router/modem IP, and 192.168.1.X as your PCs IP.

As for security, there is really no issues with people knowing it. If someone knows it, they know how to find your computer on your network. But you should have appropriate security measures in place to protect your network in the first place. And even if you don't, they would still have to physically connect to your local network to do anything with it!
