Have A Two In One About A Vw 2008 Jetta First Is About My Window Not Rolling Down Second Is About

How do you fix a power window that won't go up?

OK, I'm the expert on this one since this is all we do. Specifics are at Power Window Repair Tampa or you are welcome to ask here. In general,If you hear a click as you depress the switch down but no click as you press the switch to go up it might be the actual multi button window switch. Usually if one switch is bad neither switch works. If you hear a click in both directions it might be the window motor. Some can be changed alone, some require you to change the entire assembly (with the regulator). If you want to get the window back up try this. Start the vehicle, open the door, with one finger on the button to put the window up slam the door closed with your other hand. Might get the window working again for a time.If you hear a crunching, grinding sound your regulator (the cables that pull the glass up and down on a metal cross bracket)  is usually broken. If you can get the door panel off you can probably push the glass up by hand. If you encounter resistance it is ok to cut the metal cables (never cut an electrical wire) as your get new cables with the new regulator.NEVER try to pull the glass up with a pair of pliers. Glass is pretty strong stuff but much like a diamond can be shattered. To answer your question as to how to repair a specific window would need to know year, make, and model. A youtube search will uncover videos of how to.

Why does my AC stop blowing air then start blowing air again after being off for some time?

If it is blowing air out the vents and then quits blowing after running for a while which is what I understand your question to be it is more than likely one of three things.1 You are low on refrigerant. As a result your coil freezes up and blocks airflow.2 Your filter is dirty or you replaced it with a “better” filter that doesn't allow for adequate airflow. As a result your coil freezes up and blocks airflow.3 Your blower motor is going bad. After running it overheats and has a internal thermal limit that shuts it off until it cools.I doubt it is the blower motor. They normally work or don't. If you can get to your furnace/air handler switch your A/C to off. Turn your fan from auto to on. After an hour or so go check you furnace/air handler. You should find water somewhere around it if it is freezing up. (And now thawing) You can also check your outdoor unit when it is running. If the larger insulated line is freezing up where it goes into the outdoor unit (or anywhere it is not insulated) it is probably one of the first two. These are the most common from the symptoms you describe.

Is the Volkswagen Jetta a good car to buy used? Why or why not?

If you buy a used Jetta, head my warning.Buy with low miles, preferably below 20k miles.Make sure your warranty covers tires, AC, tire pressure monitor and breaks for the first couple of years. (New addition- after 150,000 miles my car has an issue with struts and shock absorbers. The cost ranges between $1,040 and $1,750 to replace. Just something to look into having under warranty when negotiating) Those are the main problems I experienced. I was fortunate with the engine. Take good care of it and it should last you a good while. The engine should be fine with low mileage, but you don't know if the car was abused by the previous owner. Make sure the car is inspected thoroughly before buying.Buying or leasing new may cost more in the short term. When buying used, always know every detail of the insides of the car before you buyI have spent several thousands of dollars on my Jetta in the last year in maintenance and service but I also drive a lot. The main thing is to get your dealer to give you a good warranty that covers the majority of possible issues with the car over the first few years and you will be fine.

My driver side power window switch can only make the passenger side window go down, not up. Passenger switch works fine. What could have gone wrong?

The window switch looks like this: Basically, it enables the switch to reverse polarity, depending on which way you press the button. Because the switch completes 2 separate circuits, there are 2 sets of contacts inside. One for up, one for down. Most likely, one of the contacts for the up circuit is dirty or damaged. It is also possible that the "up" wire running from the switch to the motor is damaged somewhere along the path from the drivers door to the passenger door.If you can access the switch, it is easy to "jumper" the wire together, effectively bypassing the switch to figure out if the rest of the circuit is ok. You can probably do that with a paperclip. You know the motor is ok because the other switch works fine.

How do you tow a car without damaging it? What precautions need to be made for 2 or 4 wheel drive vehicles with their parking brakes on to be able to tow it without causing damage?

Front-wheel drive vehicles can be towed quite simply by suspending the front wheels- either on a wheeled tow dolly or on the towing arm of the recovery truck. The parking brake (which acts on the rear wheels) must be released as the rear wheels must be free to roll. Automatic transmissions can be left in park in this case as the drive wheels are not rotating during the tow.Rear-wheel drive vehicles can be towed using this method as well, but the rear wheels must be suspended. The car is therefore towed backwards with the front wheels on the ground. The steering lock must be engaged with the front wheels pointing straight.Part-time 4x4 vehicles can also be towed by the above methods. The transfer case must be shifted to 2wd mode, and the driven axle lifted. Full-time 4x4 vehicles can't be towed with this method. With a manual transmission, flat towing with a tow rope or pole is possible. A second driver is needed to steer the towed vehicle, and the gear lever is simply left in neutral. This isn't possible to do for any distance with an automatic, as without the engine running many automatic transmissions can be damaged by towing. The most common way to tow a car without damage is to load it onto a flatbed tow truck. If the parking brake is applied and/or automatic transmission is in park, wheel skates can be used to allow the vehicle to be winched onto the back of the truck.

Will Toyota Repossess My Car?

I have a payment of $410 due tomorrow (7/13), but I can only pay $20 tomorrow and will pay the remaining $390 + late fees on August 1st. This is the 4th or 5th time I've done this since I got the car in January of 2008. Are they going to reposessess my car for only paying $20 out of the owed $410 due tomorrow???

Thanks

How much gas does a car burn per hour while idling?

In my experience, its around 0.34 to 0.40 gallons per hour for cars, minivans, and suvs. It appears trucks may consume slightly more gas at idle, about 0.5 to 0.7 gallons per hour.I have a ScanGauge II, bought it to help me improve my MPG but it does a bunch of other technical car stuff, one of which is read/calculate gallons per hour consumption. It plugs into the OBD-II port which reads the car’s computer output.I put it into every vehicle I have driven since 2011, including rentals. It’s interesting how idle fuel consumption varies so little despite the difference in engine displacement or vehicle configuration (such as engine size 1.6L to 3.5L, 4 cylinders to 6 cylinders). I rarely drive with AC on, so the GPH at idle only reflects consumption without AC. Also GPH at idle is ambient temperature and altitude dependant. Cars use more gas when it’s colder out and use even more gas when the air is thinner.2003 Kia Sedona Minivan, 2006 Hyundai XG350 luxury sedan, 2007 Mazda 6 sedan, 2013 VW Bug, 2014 Honda CRV (FWD) suv, 2017 VW Jetta sedan, 2018 Hyundai Tucson (FWD) suv are the cars my family owns/owned. Tried to get some info from my dad’s 2010 Audi Q5 suv, but was unsuccessful.Rentals- PT Cruiser, VW Tiguan AWD, Dodge Grand Caravan, Jeep (something entry level with cvt), Mazda 5, and Citroen Zafira (rented in europe). Also glimpsed idle consumption from my friend’s 2000’s decade Ford F250 and a “square body” Chevy truck. A bit higher for both, dunno if it’s because they’re in need of repair, at 0.55 and 0.69 gallons per hour at idle.Hope this helps answer your question.
