Have I Got Postnatal Depression

Postpartum depression?

I had the baby blues for about 2 weeks after having my little boy, I loved him so much but was so overwhelmed with everything that had happened and also felt like it was too good to be true and something was going to happen. One minute I would feel like the happiest person alive, so proud to have my baby.. then I will look at him and be so confused with it all and burst into tears. Sounds crazy but as soon as I had him i pretty much forgot all about pregnancy, felt like I just woke up and had a baby given to me. It will get better, hopefully you have someone there to help you so you can get your rest and know your little one will be looked after.. Don't do it alone take up all the help you can, I kept trying to face up to it all on my own and I think that's what made me worse. Congratulations on your little girl before you know it she will be running after you calling your name :')

Can cats go through postpartum depression?

No, cats don't go through postpartum depression. If she's abandoned her litter it's because something in the environment is stressing her out or she just wasn't ready to be a mother. I'm assuming you researched exactly what to do in this situation and are hand feeding all of the kittens. Make an appointment to have your cat spayed so this never happens again.

What Causes post partum depression?

Postpartum depression is caused by the sudden drop and change in hormones that you get after the baby is born. In can last for months. Having depression while pregnant is very common too, it is hard for some body's body and mind to control and understand all those hormones and all the new things that are happening. Postpartum literally means after birth depression but you can have prepartum depression which means before birth depression. You probably had prepartum depression then when you lost the baby you started to have postpartum depression which yes you can have without actually giving birth to the baby. I suggest you talk to a counselor, if your insurance does not cover one there are free places that offer counseling services. It would be best for you and everybody around you if you sought out help.
