Have Razor Bumps That Dont Want To Go Away At The Back Of My Head

How to get rid of razor bumps/ sweat rash?

Irritation eh?

Funny because I'm about to go to bed now in the UK and it's Summer time and as a male (at 21 years of age) being in this hot room and sleeping for 8-9 hours means oily skin and so after a few days I get spots. If I put Witch Hazel on it, which is a natural astringent, it soothes irritation, closes the pores and stops any sweating. I wake up 8-9 hours later in a warm/humid room and my face is smooth, dry, and clean. It's like magic.

An astringent is something that causes biological tissue to contract / shrink. So it's great for acne, sores, bruises, and other minor irritations. I'd advise you buy a bottle of Pure Distilled Witch Hazel with no alcohol. You can buy ones with alcohol in but since you're irritated, I don't think it's a great idea. Get some cotton wool balls / pads on the ready, get your Pure Distilled Witch Hazel, give the bottle a shake before opening, (if you have a bottle of Witch Hazel with other ingredients in it) and then open it. Cover the end of the bottle with the cotton wool pad and tip the bottle upside down a few times. Rub gently on the effected area. Leave it on for a few minutes. You can wash it off, but I'd advise leaving it on.

See how it goes from there. It should work real good. If you wish, you could try Witch Hazel first, then after 2-3 minutes apply talcum (baby) powder after wards... once the Witch Hazel has dried of course. If you wish the Witch Hazel would dry quicker then you could get the one with alcohol in it.

Hope this helps.

I get red bumps on the back of my neck after shaving my head...how do I get rid of them?

I have been shaving my head for two months now and have had this problem ever since I started. Right in that area on the back where my head meets my neck, I get these horrible looking red bumps, most noticeable right after I give my head a shave. They seem to fade away as the days pass, but when I shave my head again, they come right back looking fresh. I have tried a lot of stuff. I was using this stuff called Bump Stopper 2 from Wal-Mart, but that did a lot of nothing. I wash the area everyday with both soap and facial cleanser. I even put skin soothing lotion on it. Nothing is working or even making a slight difference. Somebody out there must be familiar with this type of problem. Does anyone have a remedy to fix this situation? I take every precaution when shaving. I use a fresh razor, steaming warm water, and Edge shaving gel. I only use aftershave on the bumpy area. I think the alcohol helps for some reason. On the rest of my head I use skin lotion. Any help is appreciated.

Why do black men get razor bumps?

Black males have a tightly curled hair type which is more likely to grow back into the skin following a close shave with a razor. When this happens, the immune system in some individuals may treat the hair shaft as a foreign substance which prompts an inflammatory reaction. This causes the tissue to swell and create bumps. In the more extreme case of Acne Keloidalis Nuchae (AKN), the immune system becomes very aggressive and attacks the follicle, sebaceous oil glands and nearby dermal tissue. This causes the skin to produce thickened collagen scar tissue as it tries to heal itself. However the outcome is a large, unsightly mass of tissue. While the formation of razor bumps are very common in black men, certain instances may actually develop into the onset of AKN.Watch an example of an AKN razor bump treatment below, or see more cases here.

What can I do to prevent itchy razor bumps after shaving?

TOP 10 CAUSES OF INGROWN HAIRS:1. Too many passes with the blade. One pass, going 1-2 inches downward at a time will eliminate ingrowns.2. Too many blades (if you are prone to ingrowns you don’t need 3 or more blades)3. Pressing too hard on the skin with the blade. A gliding, light touch is all you need. This is likely your biggest issue. Follow #44. Not enough prep time. You should be using a warm/hot water prep (5 mins). Then leave the shaving creme on for more than 3 minutes to really soften the hair. The hair stubble should literally fall away with little or no pressure at all. Pressing is the problem! Be gentle ya'll.5. Using a used blade (this one is obvious, of course).6. Use of skin/pore clogging cremes or lotions. These keep hairs from growing up. After a shave, keep your skin bare; let it breath, and allow those newly shaved, really small, microscopic hairs to grow out just in time for the next shave.7. Not enough exfoliation to remove excess layers of skin. Use an exfoliation brush as directed.8. Shaving too many times. This rule is hard to follow especially if you have to shave for your career but if you are prone to ingrowns, try shaving with an electric clipper. The results are not super close but no one but you will know the difference.9. Shaving against the grain. Shave in the direction of hair growth (usually down, but perform a face map to be sure).10. Avoid tight fitting clothing around the Adam’s apple (neck) and/or below the waistline region.

What can i use to cut back on rzor burn when i shave my head?

This is a two part answer:

1) A good razor - don't go cheap and get at least 3 blades.

2) A good shave cream - I recommend Bump Guard. Also, ensure you use an after-shave lotion, like Nivea or Neutrogena.

How long does it take for whiteheads to go away naturally? I don’t like how they look.

They usually don’t go away on their own. You have to gently exfoliate your skin about twice a week unless your skin is too sensitive, then once a week. Once you have exfoliated dead skin cells down to the white head it will fall out. To keep white heads from forming again you should use a gentle exfoliater or at least a wash cloth to keep dead skin cells from stacking up and blocking your pores.Whiteheads are beneath a layer of skin so you cannot squeeze them and medicated face washes usually doesn’t help because skin is covering them.Be careful to not irritate sensitive skin…you don’t want to have scars from picking or poking. If you cannot get them out see a dermatologist or a skin hygienist who will remove them without damage to your skin

Why do I have bumps on my head after a haircut?

The bumps sound like folliculitis, which refers to inflammation, or sometimes infection of the hair follicles. The condition can be triggered by an irritating shampoo or hair care product that causes a contact irritant or allergic reaction (note: this reaction is not always limited to the follicles). It can be caused by pulling and tugging on the hair during cutting/blowing/styling; this traction causes inflammation of the hair follicle, leading to temporary bumps. Finally, shaving or clipping the hair too close to the skin can irritate the hair follicles, leading to bumps. The bumps usually respond well to topical antibiotic solution with/without a mild topical steroid.#rash #folliculitis #scalp #hair #dermatologisttwitter @stayskinsafe
