Have You Ever Stolen Anything

Have you ever stolen anything?

1) When I was a kid I stole a spare part for a toy. My toy was broken and I thought it would be easy to go to the store, open a box and get my spare part. My mom caught me, spanked me and made me go back to the store and return it. Geez...

2) Ever been accused of stealing something I didn't steal? Not really.

Have you ever stolen anything?

I had this question on an job interview. I got the job and later was informed as to why they ask this question...which I will tell you after the best answer. :) So I would like to see how YOU respond.

Have you ever stolen something?

i used to hang out with this "bad" girl last year who always stole and never got caught so once i was in sephora and i stole a concealer and a mascara that added up to 60 bucks but hten i felt so scared and paranoid that i put the two items in a chair in another store and the next day i went to the mall again and the stuff was still there so i took it back and leventually i stopped hanging out with that girl and i didnt go into sephora for like a week and i never stole again! yay! lolll.

Have you ever stole something?

Today I got accused of stealing, but I was really just trying to put a fake love note onto a door. (Long story.)

But that begs the question: Have you ever stole something? I haven't. :P

Have you ever stolen anything from anyone and no one knows about it?

Yes. I was a freshmen in high school. My attendance was horrid that year and had been weighing on my grades. The school was a couple miles away, so not a terrible distance, but because I was at risk for losing credit in my first hour if my attendance did not improve (and because arriving late was terribly embarrassing to me) I decided one day to steal a bike in order to get there faster. It was really a very poor decision, but I will say the execution went splendidly. I lived in an apartment building that was set up in the same fashion as a motel, so that every apartment was accessible only through the outside— no indoor entrances. So all I needed to do was walk past an apartment with a bike and grab it as I went, which I did, and dump that bike somewhere, which I did as well.I would have liked to return the bike, as my intent was not to take away from the owner but rather to fix my own problem for a bit. However, because I feared repercussions if I was caught putting it back (and because I lacked the courage to store it somewhere nearby and use it regularly), I simply left it where I dumped it and tried not to think about it again.Think about that: all I got was one day of punctuality. Not worth the risks in any way whatsoever.I will say, though, that there is a possibility that bike was not owned; I seem to remember it staying in its place for many years (even as different tenants moved in and out of the closest apartment), and in fact there was dust on the seat when I went to ride it. But the important question, as far as that is concerned, is would I not have stolen it if it were obviously owned and in use? Probably yes.So yes, I have stolen something, and no, nobody knows it was me, if they even know it was stolen at all.

Have you ever stolen?

I think I was about 3 or 4 when I stole my neighbors flowers. We lived in a rental home when I was very young. It was just me and my mom. It was a very nice house with a front and back yard. One of our neighbors was an elderly couple. I don’t remember their names but they always went out of their way to talk to me and let me play in their front yard.I was in my front yard playing some silly game when I decided I wanted to pick my mom flowers. There were no dandelions in our yard as my mom had mowed recently. But my neighbors had a circle of tulips around their tree in their front yard. Being a little kid I didn’t understand that I couldn’t just pick them. So I ran over and picked a couple and ran in the house to give them to my mom.She knew where they came from and was pissed. She smacked my face and called me a bad girl and dragged me next door. I was crying. I was scared. She knocked on the door and the man answered. My mom gave me a look and I blurted “I picked your flowers! I’m sorry. I can put them back!”I ran over and tried to replant them but of course it didn’t work. The man knelt down next to me and told me he understood I was sorry but he wasn’t mad. They were just flowers. But I could help him plant some more. The following weekend I did just that. And I never stole anything again.

Poll: have you ever stole something?

I've stolen many times as an adolescent, but not recently, or that I could remember.
Two very memorable times now burn in my memory.
When I was about four, I stole a hand sharpener from my day-care/prep-school. It intrigued me very much. My mom later found it in my pocket and interrogated me about it, but I denied ever seeing it. Never felt guilty for it.
The second story is more interesting, I think. My parents and I once visited their older friends' house. They had two dogs, if I remember correctly. They also had a few tennis balls for the dogs to play with. This was in Russia, and I was still pretty young at the time. The balls fascinated me, for I had never seen balls with such odd markings on them. I stared out of the corner of my eye at the dog while he gnarled on the dull-green sphere. I was sitting on my mom's lap as she sipped tea and laughed politely at her adult friend's anecdote. When everyone was out of the room, I made my move: I nonchalantly walked over to the balls and stuffed them in my pockets. I can only imagine now how ridiculous I must have looked, for the balls were quite large compared to me and surely must have created noticeably large bulges where my pockets were. My Dad ended up picking me up and emptying my pockets before we left. For some reason, I recall him not being surprised. Later, the older male friend of my parents explained the severe punishments some countries had for stealing something. One country in particular, I remember, chopped off your fingers. The number of fingers chopped off depended on the value of the item being stolen. I don't know if he was being serious, or was just trying to scare me out of the habit of stealing.

That's pretty much all I have to say on the subject.
