Having A Terrible Time Looking For Full Time Work. Bn Searching For 6 Months. Is It Wrong To Sell

Suicidal thoughts and Job Searching: What am I doing wrong?

I am a 25 year old who graduated from college in 2013 with a BS in Biological Sciences. It has almost been 3 years since I graduated college and I have not found a decent job with my college degree because:

I'm overqualified for the position.
I do not have enough experience for this position.
I do not have any experience in this position.
I live too far away (I was told that by a hiring manager even after explaining how I would use my own means of getting to and from the job.)
I do not possess the skills for this job position.
We are seeking other candidates for this position.
6. This job position has been closed.

I do not know what to do to increase my chances for a job. I try networking with recruiters, calling HR departments about job positions I am interested in, emailing CEOs & presidents of companies to express my interest in certain jobs. I can't even land an interview for jobs. I'm such a pathetic loser.

I'm not saying that a college degree is a means for a job, but to spend thousands of dollars on a degree and not be able to apply the knowledge gained from the degree is disheartening to the point of wanting to commit suicide. It's so depressing to know that I accumulated $40K in debt with no great financial means to pay it back. Right now, I am only making $12 an hour working in a hospital kitchen. I keep applying and networking for new job, but unfortunately, I am just not good enough I guess. If something does not change for me, suicide might just be the answer

If I leave my company in six months will my experience count?

Yes, it counts. In a way that you can definitely mention in your resume. And if you complete six more months in another company, your total work experience becomes one year. No, if you left the job without any other offer ready to join. May be, you want to search for other job after leaving your current one.In this case, you won’t be recruited as experienced candidate in any interview. You can attend interviews which allow freshers with zero experience, but not as a experienced one.Almost all the companies look for minimum one year experience (a more common scenario is 2 years minimum) while looking of hiring experienced candidates. So, only advantage is, if you are in a interview where freshers are eligible, and you qualify most of the interview rounds and competing with other freshers, you may have an slight edge in recruiters perspective. That’s it.

What are some good online job search sites?

I love both indeed.com and simplyhired.com as they pull from many job boards as well as company web pages directly. Their filter tools are also great for searching per location/job description etc. Now with that said.....

Many jobs today are called "hidden jobs" meaning, many of them are not even posted on job boards. Rather recruiters are sent out looking for candidates; or friends within the company recommend a person.

Networking, networking, and more networking is your best approach in this job market.

Join industry specific groups (LinkedIn is a great place for this). Also - many recruiters look for job candidates on LinkedIn so be sure that your profile very clearly states what you do and what you are looking for.

Moving to Seattle next year.?

Hello. I’m moving to Seattle next year and I’d like an adults perspective on this. I’m an adult but, an adult in training lol. I’ll be 20 next year.
Me And my boyfriend plan to head out into Seattle next year fall. As of right now I’m saving up. We plan on a simple studio apartment. Question one, what do you think is a good amount to have saved up? I think 3,000. Maybe I’m wrong. Question two, any advice? I’d really appreciate some. Maybe give me questions to look up or simple tips. It would be much appreciated. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this.

What is the best time of year to search job in Australia?

Tricky question, and the answer is “it depends”. My personal experience is that layoffs tend to happen in April/May and October/November, so you get a wave of unemployed folks hitting the market in June/July and December/January (and they are usually experienced people). Now combine that with the fact that a large part of Australia shuts down in the week before Christmas, and doesn’t get going again properly until the week after Australia Day (January 26th). Seriously, getting anything done between December 24th and January 27th can be a struggle: managers will be on leave, you can’t get anything signed and approved: it is a pain. Companies generally do not want to start new staff until early February. That’s not to say that is impossible to get hired in those months - I’ve done it myself: I accepted an offer just before Christmas one year, but I didn’t start until late January. A lot of IT shops go into change freeze in early December, and work drops off until January, so nobody wants to put on extra technical staff in that period (unless they have had the kind of horrible melt down that you don’t want to be anywhere near).April and May, companies that have not quite hit their numbers may shed staff to make their position look better (stupid, never ends well, but these decisions are usually made by people who are no where near the coal face).Short answer: late January to early May and late July to November.

If you're no-joke bad at math, is it even possible to be a bank teller?

I need a part-time job so I can take my Master's degree courses at night this semester without going broke and draining the rest of my savings. But so far, I have had ZERO luck in finding one. The terrible economy. The fact that I don't have evenings/nights free anymore. I'm over/under qualified. All of these factors are killing me on the job market and I'm seriously running out of options. I'm considering taking on a part time job as a bank teller as it seems a popular job for college students (well, a lot of people, i suppose). I have customer service and retail experience, experience in education, marketing/editing internships, and another master's degree that i earned with my BA in 5 years, BUT I AM NO-JOKE BAD AT MATH, so even if i do have a decent resume, I think that weakness will kill me!!! I don't know if it's a learning disability or some kind of weird math dyslexia, but counting out money is really the extent of my numeracy skills. It's been like this since kindergarten. (and i'm not 'afraid' of math, i usually do well in class when i can use a calculator as a support...i understand the concepts.) I even have trouble with giving change if i have to calculate it in my head :( I can 'do' math, but never in my head- only with pen and paper, and of course a calculator.

So my question is this: Should I even take this job? Without even (vital) basic math skills, I feel like I'd just be wasting everyone's time, the interviewer's time as well as only serving to embarrass myself. Is everything automated or will I have to do the math in my head (which of course, I really can't, at least not fast enough... the bank would be closed by the time i finished a calculation lol). I'm starting to feel a bit depressed :( please no hurtful comments--i'm just sans math lol/ Any advice would be great.

And if not the bank teller job, what other part-time jobs would be ideal for day work for a college student? What PT jobs have you done? Something stable, repetitive and not too draining (And i'm 'overqualified' for retail/grocery/server jobs at this point too) sigh :( Any ideas? Comments welcome. thanks 'all.... :)

Is selling pure romance a sin?

Please no bashing, as this is a serious question that I have been struggling with. I have been searching for a direct sales position to start selling from my home next month. I have been researching all of my options for the past two months and I am honestly stuck because of how I have been raised. I am considering selling pure romance products. for those of you who aren't sure what that is, it's basically sex toys and things for intimate experiences in the bedroom. The bible says nothing that I can find against masturbation howeve, my mother isn't pleased that I am actually considering being part of this company. So i would really like to know if selling this stuff is really going to be a sin or if this is an old view that people have taken too far....im just a little conflicted and hoping to see a little clearer.
