Balancing redox reactions by the half-reaction method?

hi, i am having trouble balancing redox reactions using the half-reaction method. I have the following question:
Balance the follwoing oxidation-reduction reaction in acid solution:
SO32- + MnO4- -> SO42- + Mn2+ + H2O

I came up with the following answer:
6H+ + 5SO32- + 2MnO4- -> 5SO42- + 2Mn2+ +3H2O

i dont know if this is right or not, but can someone please help me by giving me a step by step on what to do. What would i do if it was in an aqueous solution of a basic solution? thanks a lot for any help

Numerical Methods...boundary value problem with shooting method????

I have a Numerical Methods final tomorrow, and I'm having trouble figuring out one of the problems. It's going to be a Boundary-Value problem, 2nd order equation. It needs to be changed into two 1st order equations, with starting values given, and we have to calculate one point. Then, with 3 boundary conditions, and the results of 2 guesses given, we're going to have to derive the shooting method with taylor series, and use that to calculate the next guess. I need some help please! anything would be great. Thanks!

REDOX REACTIONS HALF-REDUCTION METHOD QUESTIONS HELP?

I'm going to assume you know how to balance redox reactions because you had to do 75 and are only asking about 3, so...

I tried 1 and 2 and they did not balance...but I did 3 and it balanced so here is my answer

17H ^+ + 14NO3 ^- + 3FeAsS ----> 3Fe ^3+ +3SO4 ^2- + 3H3AsO4 + 14NO +4H2O

I broke up the reaction into FeAsS ---> Fe ^3+ + 3SO4 ^2- + H3AsO4 and NO3 ^- ---> NO

For the Nitrogen reaction I added two water to the products and 4 H+ and 3e- to the reactants

For the Iron reaction I added 8 water to the reactants, and 13H+ and 14e- to the products

I multiplied them by 14 adn 3 respectively. Hydrogen was reduced to the reactants, water was reduced to the products and the e- canceled out.

is being oxidized, and
Hg+2 --> Hg+1
is being reduced. Add electrons to balance the half rxns

then multiply each by an integer and combine them so that the number of electrons are the same on both sides of the resulting equation:

Police corruption seems to be an increasing problem in the United States as well as most of the world. With higher reports of police brutality, racial profiling by police, and plain system abuses, many people have a growing distrust of the police and their methods.

Is there a way to effectively reduce the size/hardness of stool?

Yes, the bowels you described are common. But I understand the need to relieve the discomfort.

You need more fiber in your diet. Fiber helps break down the foods you eat. The more junk food you eat, the more fiber you will need. Try eating mini wheats, cheerios, or oatmeal, maybe not every day, but at least once a week. Basically, anything with whole grains has fiber in it.

Also, drink more water. Alot of people don't drink enough and that can have an effect on your stool as well.

If you are feeling constipated, try some chocolate for temporary relief. Castor oil works well too. Just don't take those kind of laxatives too much, or you will end up malnourished.
