Having Trouble Accessing Hard Drive

Can i move programs to my external hard drive and still access them.?

What you want to do is change the player's storage path to the external drive, not move the player itself.

Generally it's a bad idea to install programs on a removable drive. When a program is installed it creates Windows Registry entries containing the paths to the various files of the program. If that path goes away, you get (as you said) "all sorts of trouble."

What player is this?

Can't access my WD Smartware hard drive?

Does it show up in the My Computer? perhaps without any data showing but just as drive letter?
If so then most likely the issue is the MBR is corrupt on the drive.
This is usually straight forward to fix, open Start > Accessories > and right click the Command Prompt option, select Run as Administrator.
You should see a black box pop-up and at the flashing cursor type the following.
chkdsk E: /r /f and press Enter. NOTE: if your drive letter is not E then change it to the correct letter for your WD HD.
This may take a while to complete so be patient and it should fix issues with the MBR and your drive should be usable again. This of course assumes that this is where the issues are.
If the drive letter does not show up then the issue is most likely the software is damaged, try removing the WD software, reboot and reload it.
If still not working then the issue may be the drive enclosure is not working but the data on the drive is intact, if under warranty then you can return it but they will wipe the drive. If you can get it apart without voiding any warranty (without splitting the stickers) then you should be able to plug he drive directly into the PC (using a SATA cable and power from the PSU socket) and you may find the data is accessible.

How to fix "install device driver to access hard drive" issue while installing windows?

Though Windows is showing you this error but there is no such drivers to access hard disk. Some possible mistakes had taken place. If you created a bootable usb then may be some files were deleted by your antivirusMay be its your Windows image file that have been corruptedYour BIOS settings has changed from AHCI to IDE environment (Windows XP uses an IDE environment with PATA hard disks, but Windows 7 uses an AHCI environment as for SATA hard disks. The solution is to create a fresh bootable usb after disabling your antivirus or to download a fresh copy of Windows image file or changing your BIOS setting. Thanks

How can I access 95GB of photos on an external hard drive in an iPhoto Library file? My Mac won't open it because it's either too big or because I already have photos set up.

If you are trying to access an “iPhoto”library as opposed to a “Photos” library with the Photos app on your Mac the library has to be converted and migrated. In your case what I would do is click on Photos on the mac while holding down the option key and then choose the iPhoto library on your external drive- what will happen is that it will then migrate those photos into a new “Photos” library in the same location (your external drive) and you should be able to view them.PS if they are already in a “Photos” library on the external drive then they will simply just open up in Photos- in both situations they will be read and stay on the external drive.Let me know if you have any trouble and I’ll talk you through it.

I cannot access my external hard drive in Windows. I cannot format it either. What can do to retrieve my data from this hard drive?

1 start a command prompt as administrator.2 type “diskpart”3 type “list disks”. Identify your external disk in the list. If it doesn't appear then you have a hardware problem.4 type “sel disk n” where N is the number given to your disk in step 35 DOUBLE CHECK you picked the right disk.6 type “clean”Bam, disk is ready for repartition & reformat. Obviously if you get this wrong you can kill your pc stone dead: but this is how I do it.

My external hard drive is not opening, but it is showing up in my computer. How can I open it?

well i know 2 methods:try this does it work as m quite sure that i might not need to tell the second solution cosidering normally this one always work: 1.go to command prompt2.Type the folowing:attrib drive_letter:*.* /d /s -h -r -s3.Replace the word ‘drive_letter’ with your drive. For Ex mine is G drive so it will have the command : attrib G:*.* /d /s -h -r -s4.Than you hard drive/pen drive will open and show a nameless folder. Open the nameless folder.5.You will see all files/folders originally in your hard drive/ pen drive inside that nameless folder.6.Please do reply to me if it work. Cuz second method works only if u tries this and your hard drive/ pen drive does not open still.

Does having a near-full hard drive negatively affect overall computer performance?

A near-full hard drive can negatively affect PC performance.Windows moves information into and out of RAM, your computer’s temporary memory. Some of the content in RAM is Windows itself, some of it may be software you are running, and some of it may be data that Windows predicts you will want soon.RAM is very fast but has limited capacity compared to a capacious hard drive. So the operating system will balance your needs by noting which data in RAM has not been accessed in a while, then copying it to the hard drive and clearing up its space in RAM. If you do request it again, it’ll be taken off the hard drive and copied back into RAM.Exactly how this is accomplished differs a bit between versions of Windows, but all of them are sending your data from fast memory to a bin or two on your slow hard drive. Some versions may be able to copy entire programs, effectively suspending them if the software itself allows, kind of like a hibernation state for an individual program. Others can only do bits and pieces, and older versions don’t really do the predictive magic either.Anyhow, Windows usually adjusts the size of that ‘bin’ on your hard drive, on the fly, to fit its needs. Figure one-and-a-half times the size of your RAM is a fair amount. If you do not have enough spare capacity to accommodate, Windows will use less. It’s very polite that way.But eventually the available capacity is too small and will impinge on the ability of the operating system to swap data in and out of RAM. The predictive prestidigitation gets weird, the paging in and out becomes frenetic, and your hard drive might thrash as access becomes shorter and more frequent. And your computer will crawl.

Steps in removing hard drive from hp pavilion 6648c computer?

if you having trouble opening the case its becuz its tricky to do but when u pen the side pannel u should see a yellow sticker that shows a picture and an arrow pointing to a little lever. what makes it funny is tht the computer pulls outr from the front allowing you access to the harddrive/cd rom so u squeeze that little lever and pull on the front of the cpu and that should do it
good luck

Or how about i do no wat im talking about as i had a 6648c about a week ago that i was fixing so thanks for voting thumbs down on the truth.
