Having Trouble Eating .

Betta Fish having trouble eating?

Could be he's cold. Do you have a heater? Cold Bettas tend to be lethargic, and will often not eat.
Here's what your Betta needs to live a long and happy life:
1. A 5-gallon cycled (http://www.firsttankguide.net/cycle.php and http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/aquarium... )
tank is minimal for Betta health. Smaller tanks and bowls do not maintain a consistent temperature, and it's nearly impossible to keep healthy water conditions.
2. A filter is necessary in any tank in order to keep the water aerated and free of toxins. For Bettas it is best to set the filter flow to low, as they are not very strong swimmers. Another good option is a sponge filter,
3. A heater is essential. Bettas need warm steady temperatures of about 80F, to thrive. Constant fluctuation leads to stress, which inevitably leads to disease and often death. You can find an inexpensive heater for a small tank at any fish store.
4. In a 5-gallon tank, weekly 25% water changes, using a gravel siphon are necessary. Water conditioner must be added to the water before it is put in the tank to remove toxic chlorine, chloramine, metals, etc.
5. Bettas enjoy a well planted aquarium, (use live or silk plants, plastic can tear their fins,) with a cave or two for exploring and resting.
Bettas have been known to live for 10 years. I have personally known them live to for 6.

My pet snake is having trouble eating?

I have a young pet corn snake and I just fed it a small baby mouse. He never has trouble swallowing and eating his food, but just now the mouse is stuck in his throat. He cannot get it past his head, and he won't throw it up either. I have never had it do this before or heard of anything like this. What could this be and what can I do?

Why is my rabbit having trouble eating?

I have a pet rabbit who is having trouble eating. I figured his teeth were over grown but we brought him to the vet and everything looked fine. I noticed he gets the food into his mouth chews it but it seems like he has problems swallowing the food. He tilts his head back after he chews it which I'm assuming helps the food go down this throat. He hasn't been eating nearly as much as normal because it takes so much effort for him to eat. I've been helping him by feeding him baby food in a syringe which is happily eats. Has anyone has anything similar happen with their rabbit? What do you think it could be? How can I help him?

Leopard gecko suddenly having trouble eating?

Are her stool and urates normal? And her temps? If she is healthy otherwise it just sounds to me like you have a lazy gecko. I have a leo that will do this too, she is perfectly fine with a nice fat tail but she is so lazy with her food and doesn't want to move her chunky butt more than an inch to catch it and always drops it when it's in her mouth because chewing takes too much effort apparently...

Make sure your mealworms and crickets are appropriately sized, no bigger than the space between their eyes as chewing too large of a prey item can also be annoying. I've found with my own lazy gecko she will eventually go after it properly if she's hungry enough and she realises I'm not bringing the tweezers but it can take some time to get there. If it bothers you tremendously pick up a pair of feeding tongs or just some plain old tweezers and give it to her. This does not sound like anything to worry about to me unless she starts acting very lethargic in general.

My cat has trouble eating wet food?

My cats have trouble eating wet food. They don't bite it, they lick it, and it gets squished down, and they have trouble getting it into their mouths. They WANT the food, but I can see that they just get frustrated and give up...
Do you think I should try buying them cubed wet food? Not just the regular wet food? Maybe cubed, minces or sliced? (Wellness offered these options.. Not sure about other brands)

I'm having trouble eating over 1300 calories a day because when I eat I feel bloated. Will I be okay if I am not starving myself?

What you are experiencing is actually a typical symptom of under eating and the first stages of loss of functioning. You are consuming a very small amount of calories per day and know that you are burning more than you consume, so you should realize this cannot be sustainable long term. This can become very serious if it continues. The bloating is caused by decreased functioning in your digestive tract, as your digestive enzymes that break down the food become increasingly deficient (hence why you can no longer process dairy), your acid production continues without food to work on, and your food moves more slowly through your intestinal tract improperly digested, thereby.... erm, well, decomposing somewhat inside you and releasing gasses. Your fatigue is tied to this as well, as your body is using most of the little caloric energy you have available trying to process the food, more than it would if your digestive system was functioning normally. You definitely need to see a doctor to monitor and help you recover normal functioning. My suggestion for a start would to begin adding comfortably small amounts of food throughout the day, staying hydrated, and supplementing probiotics to compensate for enzyme deficiency and aid digestion. Try adding more soft foods like soups and juices that take less energy to break down and won’t block your plumbing. Starving your system and then forcing it to process one large amount all at once places more stress on you and slows your metabolism even more, contributing to the imbalance. I hope this helps you.

After having hiatal hernia repair, I am having trouble eating - nauseau, vomiting, and diarrhea.?

Since it's the weekend, why not visit a doc in the box or an ER and see if they can give you some IV fluids? You're right to want to avoid dehydration. Signs of dehydration include dry skin, dark/concentrated urine (or no urine), and a dry mouth. If you're having any of those symptoms, I'd seek medical help today rather than waiting to call the doctor tomorrow.

Your symptoms right now mimic the ones you have with a hiatal hernia, so I can understand your fears. I would rather be safe than sorry. If you feel very anxious about it, it's going to hurt your recovery. Maybe seeking a doctor's advice would help you rest easier. Basically, if you're worried enough to ask here on Yahoo, you're likely worried enough to contact a physician. Once you have your next appointment - whether today or next week -, make sure you get a written "what to expect" form about recovery from hiatal hernia surgery so you can refer to it at times like these.

Good luck!

Almost 18 weeks pregant and having trouble eating =/..?

I know how you feel! I'm 40 weeks pregnant day after tomorrow and ready to deliver! The first thing is to be sure to tell your doctor about your nausea at your next pre-natal appointment. They can prescribe medication that can help you not throw up anymore. I had some medication prescribed because I started losing weight around the same week you are, and I'm on the thin side too (well, not anymore, since i'm 40 weeks pregnant, but I was back then). The medication didn't really work that well for me, but by that time the nausea was getting better on its own. Hopefully yours will start getting better too, but ask for the nausea pills anyway. Call your doctor if they don't work. As for eating...thats tricky. Dry toast, crackers, fruit, dry cereals like cheerios, special K, bland things that are easy on your stomach. Also, if something appeals to you, you should eat it. Even if you end up throwing it up later, maybe enough will stay down to give you and baby some nutrition. As for pre-natals, mine were so big I would gag and sometimes throw up trying to swallow them, so my obgyn told me to take Flintstones vitamins. I bought the ones with the extra iron, and they're chewable, so it made taking them easier. Don't worry about gaining weight...like I said, I lost weight at first when I was around 18 weeks, but since then I've gained nearly 50 lbs and haven't even been trying hard. I'm one of those people that can eat whatever they want and never gain anything, but here I am! Also, here is something I did when I had morning sickness that helped me out...I would think of something I wanted to eat for my next meal, then I would sit and think about it for about an hour before I actually went and ate it. Sounds crazy, but it helped me have more of an appetite. Hope this helps, and good luck with your pregnancy!

I'm starving, but am having a lot of trouble making myself eat. What are the possible reasons?

You asked,I'm starving, but am having a lot of trouble making myself eat. What are the possible reasons? I don't feel sick at all.Possible explanations, not in any order of priority or relevance:Your sense of starving is not real, physiological hunger. It might instead be sensations arising from other external impositions other than serving energy needs by food consumption, e.g. emotional, psychological or chemically stimulative experiences; and/or,Your body is refusing food because you are in fact ill and/or contending with a health problem even though you don’t feel sick at all. Not all illnesses and disease manifest perceivable symptoms at early stages, but your body already knows what is going on within itself and might be trying to attend to solve such issues early by not eating, i.e. fasting. Fasting when sick is a natural and healthy physiological response to regain health and wellness shared by all mammals. Whether or not you know you are sick is usually irrelevant and unnecessary to trigger the physiological reflex to fast and avoid food; and/or,Something else entirely, which given the vague description of your situation is well beyond anyone to diagnose at a distance.Starving (i.e. having true, physiological hunger) and not being able to eat even though you don’t feel sick at all are generally mutually exclusive experiences. If none of the above apply, then your situation might derive from more psychological influences than actual physiological issues.Best wishes in figuring it out.
