It s to the point that I gave a near constant headache, my asthma (once non-symotomatic) is flaring and just being near him makes me nauseous. I work in Texas. Is there anything that can be done (asside from a career change)?

I am 25 and am already developing health issues from my software engineering career. What other jobs can I apply my CS/Math degrees to that are more active than software engineering?

Honestly, its just an excuse.Be smart and stop being lazy. CEO/CTOs and executives are way more busier yet healthier than you and they live a great life.Life has 4 pillars: Mental, Social, Physical and Spiritual.Your job is taking care of Mental(and Economic) pillar but you need to take care of all others as well to have a happy life and not feel burnt out.Run in the mornings or evenings which ever suits you.Take breaks while working, use f.lux app for your eyes and use apps like EyeLeo which tells you to blink or take a break to help your eye or your body while working. Move around in those breakGo to gym once every day or every 2 days and workout real hard for a small amount of time like an hour (HIIT, Crossfit, Jump ropes, 150 burpees, circuit training, mma conditioning, anything which is intensive) Take less and less break as you move along. Train like a professional athlete in those hours. Talk to people in the gym as well. Make friends, take classes, learn something.Eat well. Say no to free pizza coffee and beer at your office. Once a week one slice is okay but tell yourself to run 10 min more on the treadmill for the sin you did to your body.Change your diet, eat more meat, fruits, vegetables and natural fats and much less carbs at least for 4 months.Learn to mediate and do it every day.Stop watching porn and socialize instead.Have family/friends/personal time. May be like 7 - 10 in night. Hangout with your friends/girlfriend/wife/kids/parents/siblings. Don’t use any screen in that time, no mobile, no Netflix no nothing and ask other to do the same.Walk with them, talk to them, if you are single go to the mall, talk to people, go meet girls/guys.Go out on weekends and meet like minded individuals, learn their story, make friends, ask suggestions, meet beautiful women. There are so many other things in this world to see and experience apart from computer screen.Whenever you have time, go travel to some place you have never been and enjoy the fact that you are alive. And lastly, enjoy life before it comes to an end, only then your job will be enjoyable.

Did you make the decision to leave your job/career due to mental health issues? If so, how did you deal with self-esteem issues concerning this decision?

No, I never has reason to leave my job for mental issues. However, had that been the case, I certainly would not let it interfere with my self esteem. Mental issues are things to be properly diagnosed, like any other illness and treated appropriately. For example if someone hurt their back and could not perform their job or play their career sport, neither they nor any other thinking person would make that a matter of involving self-esteem.I would suggested, very respectfully that you do everything you can to dismiss such a notion and make it an absolute MUST to raise your self esteem as high as possible. Good self- esteem tends to engender good health, happiness and supportive friends, and miracles can happen then. The choice is always yours and so what if you have to take a job that is not what you really want, unroll you get your mental issue under control. Regard it as a new life experience bringing in new people and something different to learn for a while. That experience alone could work wonders.Keep your self-esteem high, you have no idea what other people have to cope with and if you are living in a very trying world, like the rest of us, love who you are and see the outcome.

Do professional software engineers face health problems?

There are studies to prove it either ways.  A good living habits is the key to sustain good health. If your job is stressful and demands significant involvement at work then, there could be stress related issues.Following major areas one ahould be aware of, while at workEye sightSitting position - most of the organizations provide ergonomic evaluation of work place. Take it. Bad posture is common for software engineers.Eating habits  - less sugar I was told Concentration - lack of concentration puts pressure on mind and reduce productivity. Inturn stress related issues. Bad for career and health. At home, after workSleeping times Thinking of work at home - not advocating for 'no work at home' as not all of us effort it. Reduce as much as you can.Doctors suggest at least 8 hours of sleep a dayLook at farther objects for at least 30 sec for every hour spent at monitorDrink water oftenWalk few feet for every 2 hours spent on chair - use smaller water bottle, drink often and go fill it up often. Don't optimize :-)

Emt health physical red flags?

Prior to training for EMT-basic, a physical is required. Do you know what the red flags are? (Besides illegal drugs in blood.) I'm looking for major health conditions that would be considered a problem and/or is taking medication for health problems considered a red flag? Thanks.

What are common early career problems for people with degrees in public health?

Speaking from personal experience I would say one challenge (not necessarily a problem) would be finding which particular branch of public health you’re most passionate about and want to build your career in.Public health in itself encompasses a wide range of disciplines ranging from health promotion, policy development and implementation, project management, health economics, and epidemiology among others. My best advice is to find a job that allows you the freedom to dabble in a bit of all of these branches until you begin to get a solid feel for what it is you are truly passionate about and want to be in for the long haul.Often the beginning of many successful careers is filled with trial and error, so don’t be afraid to experiment until you find what’s right for you.
