In the United States there are many people named Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John which are originally from the Bible, why is this not the case in Russia where half the country is also Christian?

Many children are given those names you've mentioned. They just sound not like you used to.Matthew - Матвей (Matvéy), John - Иван (Ivá́́n), Mark - Марк (sounds almost the same). It was popular among Jews in the Soviet Union, but now you might not encounter many people named Mark as they died or moved to Israel.Luke, yes. That's a rare name now. Luke's Russian equivalent is Лука (Luká). More names:Michael! Haha, let me introduce myself fully in English:Hello, my name is Michael. Михаил (Mikhaíl. Though I don't know why it should be transliterated this way, not just Mihail. Its pronounciation is closer to Mihaeel).Daniel - Даниил (Daniíl. If I really needed to explain how to pronounce this name, I'd write Danieel either). What else? Are the Ancient greek and Latin names allowed here? George - Гео́ргий (Georgiy). Not common, but more frequent than Mark. Helen - Елена (Yeléna). Every third mid 40s woman here is named Yelena. Katherine - Екатерина (Yekaterína). Sophie - Софья (Sófya). Nick - Николай (Nikoláy). Gregory - Григорий (Grigóriy). Andrew - Андрей - Andréy. Nathalie - Наталья Natálya.I guess it's enough for you.Михаил / Michael

Is this sentence 'My names are' grammatically correct?

In general usage, no. Our names are ‘single’ things, after all, referring to a single person. I might have four NAMES, but all of them together are MY name: my name IS George Arthur William Jones (made up as an example). You might - but just might - use the plural (my names are…) if you have several fairly well known titles, or nicknames, or positions, such that the person asking that question might know only one or two of those ‘names’:My names are George Albert Jones, also known as William the Fifth, King of Uninterestingland, Lord of Overseas and Protector of Albino Dolphins. But usually the question ‘what is your name?’ is answered by your full (single) name, which includes your given name, your middle name or names, and your family name:‘My name is George. George Arthur William Jones. But you can call me Lefty.’Or as my dad used to say: ‘you can call me Will or you can call me (Mr. LastName), just don’t call me late for dinner!’

Hello people of the United States?

Well if it's snow that you're looking for then I think the best places for you are the north eastern territories. If you want heavy snow then the North is the best place to go such as Washington, Montana, North Dakota, etc. Western spots is where it almost never snows but it does rain quite a lot, such as California(where I live), Arizona, Nevada, etc. And the South is the hottest where it's more likely to snow on the mountains at night. But just to warn you, don't get your hopes too high. The politicians are retarded and there are good singers and musicians, like you said, but there are also very horrible ones that give America a bad name. Also, gas prices over here are soaring to ridiculous prices. But in the end, I think you'll enjoy it here and if you are going to Disney then you are going to have A LOT of fun. Hope my answer helps! :)

Different spellings of Landon and Logan?

Hello, I am thinking about changing my name to Landon Logan instead of Matthew Scott. To me, I think Matthew is too common and I just do not fancy the name Scott. With that being said, what ways would you spell these two names? I want to sort of be unique, even if it is just a letter change. Thank You!
