Help Burning Rash After Swimming At River

What is this rash from, after swimming in a river?

If it's pussy I would definitely see the doc. Gonna need anti B's. Unless it is an allergic reaction. . .you didn't say if you spent time on land and possibly did get PI. But two things jump out at me. Are you possibly allergic to the rubber in the tube or something on said tube, or, is there something in the water to which you are allergic. These rivers aren't as clean as they used to be. Tough to find out there is a Dow Chemical plant just above where you put in. But looking at the wound it does look like you got scraped and it got infected. hmm. Yeah you need to see the doc for the infection. Be interesting to hear what he/she says it is. Best of luck.

Why do my nipples hurt after swimming?

Maybe they were irritated from rubbing against your swimsuit or maybe it was a reaction to chlorine or whatever else was in the water. You could use some lotion to stop the irritation and you might need a new swimsuit.

Can you swim a pool having a rash?

I don't think that being in the pool is the real problem because the cholrine will probably keep the wound clean. The problem is afterwards, when you have gotten out of the pool. Make sure you clean the area well because once the rash has been soaked in water, it is probably more susceptible to infection if it becomes open.

Is swimming in Florida safe in May?

Depends on where you swim that will determine if you end up scratching...During May, along areas of the Gulf, there are infestations of  microscopic larvae of jellyfish and other ocean stingers.  The larvae contain stinging cells and when trapped and compressed between the skin and a bathing suit, the stinging cells fire.  This causes quite a burning rash.  Wherever you have a crevice on your body, (armpit, backs of the knee, any area that when moved will trap and squash the tiny larvae), that's where the itching can start. To the naked eye, the larvae are large enough to see but become almost invisible in water. If you are planning to enter the water and there appears to be a floating cloud on the surface, think twice.   Sea lice incidents aren't just limited to the month of May.  They can be found throughout the summer months in Florida wherever there are signs of jellyfish. Should you shower after swimming in a salt water ocean?

That depends …The salt that will be left on your body when the water evaporates isn’t harmfull. It might feel dusty or irritate a scratch, especially if you are in areas with high salt concentration (like the dead sea). Sometimes it can irritate your eyes, if salt concentrates on your forehead and the concentrated drops or salt dust gets in your eyes. But it take a hard concentration to be other than irritating. Some skin deceases really like the salt water. I myself have dandruff (yes it is a kind of skin decease), but have hardly any when diving season starts and my scalp gets saltwater and sun.But if there is a lot of muck or algea in the water (salt or fresh water), it would be a good idea to rinse after a swim. And it’s always a good idea to shower after being in clorine water (pools) or in places with a lot of humans traffic (especially hot tubs), as human bacteria are often more harmfull to you that most in nature.

Why do you have to wait 24 hours to go swimming in a pool after using veet??

Because veet opens up the pores on your legs. then when you get in chlorine it may burn a lil. but they just say that so you dont end up suing them.

Why is it important to have a shower after swimming in a pool?

Showering, both before and after entering a pool, is important. Many people don’t think about showering before getting into a pool, but it’s important to wash off any perspiration, body oil, urine, and other wastes that may enter the pool with us. Showering after swimming is equally important. Not only do you want to wash the chlorine off your body and swimsuit (chlorine can ruin a swimsuit), but you want to remove any other chemicals or products on your body.In addition to getting the chlorine off your body, there is more that goes into why showering is necessary. A study conducted in 2010 by the University of Illinois found that when swimmers' nitrogen-rich consumer products (cosmetics and/or sunscreen) mixed with the disinfectants in the pool, they became chemically modified and toxic. After long-term exposure, the toxic agents could potentially lead to birth defects, acceleration in the aging process, respiratory ailments, and induced cancer.
