i own a local deli in NY. My friend suggested that i buy gift cards from my customers for a 10% discount and then sell them to other people for a discount. for example, if somebody comes into my deli with a 100$ ***** sporting goods gift card that they dont want, i pay them 90$ cash. another person walks into my store and wants to buy a ***** sporting good gift card, i then sell that person this gift card for 95$ cash so everybody wins. I was thinking of doing this because i know many people receive gift cards for the holidays that they will never use. I was just wondering if i did actually do this would it be illegal?
