Help Cant Think Of A Story To Write

Need to write a story asap HELP?

well I'm in a story competition, I got to write a chapter book, like those kids chapter books with 10 chapters, I got to write one in 5 days, and I can't think of ANYTHING, it's gotta be cool, not romance, romance is not allowed in the comp. Something like a kid getting there ears pierced, excitement, fun, adventure with a little bit of action and drama, it's gotta be a mixture of everything and it's gotta be so intresting that you can stretch the info out so it fits 10 chapters, if you have any ideas plz tell ASAP, I'm desperate for some help!! P.S. If your thinking I'm asking you to write me a story so I can win a competition, I'M NOT, just an idea!!

I really can't think of a plot for my story?

Jenna, you don't have writer's block. You simply don't have a story line. That's not the same thing at all. Go for a walk somewhere. Go to the mall. Watch people, play 'what if' in your mind, as you imagine the people being involved in different things. Once your imagination starts working, you can put your make-believe 14-year old girl into a situation and see what happens.
Trying to write someone else's plot is a non-starter, because it isn't your own plot and you really don't know how to amplify and round out someone else's idea.

I'm writing a rape scene in a story but I can't think of how to do it? ?

First of all, I completely believe that a man can get raped. So, I'm sure you didn't make the mistake of writing "he" when you "meant" "she" because you wouldn't make the mistake more than once.

Anyways, I think you sould allude to it the way others have stated. It doesn't have to be graphic or all in their face because they most likely won't like reading about that. And the most demeaning thing for a man? What about a woman? It happens all the time to women.

Avoid my rants. Things like this make me sick because you can't really help the victim. Anyways, allude to it or make the victim close their eyes and think about something else. It's what some do. I watched a program on where the woman had gotten raped and she said that she just blanked out like it wasn't happening because it was the only way she would even make it. You could have him do the same thing. Like I said, it doesn't have to be graphic and since it's necessary to the story you could add a few details (that aren't disgusting or going to freak the reader out) and then move onto the next scene.

Good luck!

I have TONS of ideas for a story, but I can't write or draw? What should I do?

I have been having tons and tons of ideas about stories for as long as I could remember. Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Crime Fiction, Romance, War epics, Adventure… even non-fiction. But writing them down has been a challenge of another kind. They all include characters, scenes, development and climax. I can even feel chills running down my spine when I review them in my head over and over again. But here is the thing, when you say that you can’t write… you are absolutely wrong. To be a writer, you don’t need to fill heavy fancy words into that blank space to convey your emotions. Arundhati Roy, Salman Rushdie and many other Booker winners who are considered as legends in literary circles write a heavy and fancy language, so much so that as a reader you feel like you are reading a dictionary rather than a novel. It is appreciated but it becomes boring. In fact it is the plot that is the key, the heart to any story, whether you are writing a book or making a movie. If your stories are good, if your plot is amazing, if your characters are beyond epic; readers don’t care whether you use a simple language or not. But you just have to start writing. In fact, I would suggest you to pick up any good book that you like and have read. Start reading it again. But this time observe the way the author is writing. Observe how he is playing with the words, examine his choice of words, see how he describes a new character when it first appears. Then once you start writing yourself, you will notice that the work you are creating is original and different in its own way. And that in my opinion is the beauty of writing. Start slow. One step at a time. Hundred words a day. Before you know, you will have a novel in your hands…. written by your very self.No one is born a writer. And don’t underestimate yourself.

I can't think of anything to write about?

I suck at English. Period. I suck at writing, being creative, and I feel pressured by my teacher and peers. My English teacher has such high expectations, he shouldn't. I'm supposed to write an essay but can't think of anything to write about. Here's the prompt: write a personal narrative about a time when you had to change your plans because something unexpected happened. I cannot think of anything. I know it's a personal narrative and you kind of have to know me to think of an idea but my life is boring. I have no interesting stories to tell. My only option is lying. And since I suck at thinking about ideas for writing, I don't know what to write about. Please please please help me make up a story. Thank you.

I'm writing a short story about a miscarriage and can't think of a title, help?

I'm writing this little story about a miscarriage and can't think of a name. I'll tell you a little bit about it to give you an idea of what exactly it's about: It begins with a pregnant woman in bed, telling her husband that something is wrong. Then, throughout the story, it talks about the good times throughout her pregnancy; picking out a baby name, buying all his little accessories, decorating his nursery, and the baby shower, and then it goes back to where the story started, something felt wrong. They go to the hospital, thinking that their baby is on his way, it's a boy if that helps, only to receive tragic news, their baby has passed away. And that's where it ends. It's really hard to find the right name for it. I don't want it to be like those happy names ex. "Oh Boy!" or something cheerful like that. I'd like it to have more of a meaning to the story. Thank you.

I've always wanted to make a short film but I can't think of a story. I have a lot of ideas, but not fixed stories. How do I get out of this trouble?

I can relate to you. Don't worry. You are not alone. Almost every artist feels this way, even those who are professional and are successful in their career. Their is concept called Flow. Every successful artist when enters this state of “Flow”, transforms into a highly productive machine of good artistic work. Their is a YouTube Video which will help you to understand it better. Write a fictional hero story?

Pick a few things you always wished you could do. Fly? Become invisible? Read minds?

Use those and create your hero/heroine.

Create his/her alter ego so that it either compliments or contrasts with the hero's persona. Be sure to be consistent about their personalities.

Be sure to include a weakness. You don't want to create a flying Mary Sue.

I need to write and tell a personal short story on a show. But I can't think of any dramatic event. How can I start?

Events don't need to be dramatic.  A story can so work if it's quiet reflection on some aspect of your life, or just a case of errors compounding on other errors.I suspect that the real problem you're having though is a mental block. No one has ever managed to live a life that wasn't dramatic or funny or just difficult at some point.  My guess is that you're either worried about not having something good enough for the radio or that you're shy to share personal moments (particularly embarrassing ones.)If it's the former, well, they asked you, right? That means they already think you're plenty interesting enough for their listeners. Even a dull story could work in that context.  Even this story could work! You could go on the air and start with "I was so worried about being boring when I found out I was going to be in the show, I went online and asked people what should I say!"If it's the latter, well, it's something every writer comes up against eventually. Telling a story can be an almost intimate act, especially one from your own life. I'm not sure I can offer any quick methods for getting past that apart from reassuring you that one you break through it, it's really not that bad going forward from there. I'd recommend practicing with a friend if you can, perhaps a friend of a friend as well so you can get used to the idea of telling it to a stranger.
