Santa's Grotto Staff - Help with Audition?

If you work in Santa's grotto as an elf, you would mainly be shepherding small children in a queue to see Santa. As regards the interview, I think the first criterion should be that you are fond of children. Bear in mind they will be excited and sometimes nervous if they don't know what to expect. So you need to be a patient person, and one who can console a crying child (seeing Santa can prove to be a bit daunting for some!!). If the child can be photographed with Santa, then you might be the one in charge of the camera, so basic photography knowledge, and knowing how to get a small child to look up and smile (wave a funny toy at it from behind the camera).

Other than that, you will be on your feet all day, so physical stamina is important. You will also have to be smiling and cheerful all the time, have a good memory for names so that you can tell Santa each child's name in turn, and not have to mind the red and green costume! In general, you will be a good people person, able to communicate in a friendly but firm way with parents and children alike. Previous experience in a customer-facing role would be beneficial, but actors and drama students make "good" elves.

That's interesting that you get an audition as well as an interview. I don't know what they would ask you for the audition, sorry.

Good luck; hope you get the job.

[Edit]

I suppose they might audition you to see how you would deal with a small child's queries about where Santa comes from, where the reindeer are at the moment, and so on. Also, you might have to entertain the queue at times.

I miss Christmas and its August?

I miss Christmas and its only August, I'm already watching Christmas movies and listening to Christmas music, so far I've watched home alone 2 and elf. Any suggestions on how to make time go by faster? Lol

What is a good Christmas musical audition song for a mezzo soprano?

"Where Are You Christmas" is one of my favourite christmas songs, and I'm a mezzo. Find your perfect key and it'd be great!
"Once Upon A December" from Anastasia. Love it!!
Any christmas carols work because you can change the key to what suits you and your voice! :)
Hope I helped though

Why do you think the acting industry only wants talent from within the industry instead of giving an outsider a chance?

First off, the industry, like all industries, is not in the business of “giving…outsider[s] a chance.” They are no more likely to skip professionals in the industry to hire some outsider than you are to skip over professional plumbers to hire someone with no background or credentials to fix your leaky pipes.Acting is a profession, like banking or medicine or dentistry. When you are looking to hire someone from a profession, you look at their credentials. What is their training? What experience do they have? What recognition have they received for their work? When you have an achy tooth, you aren’t likely to enlist the help of some guy down the block who thought it might be fun to be a dentist. You are going to find someone with the requisite education and experience. It is the same for acting. If you want to be an actor, you need to build up your education and experience. Study, preferably in recognizable schools, well-known methods, and known teachers. When casting a role, there is a big difference between “I studied Meisner with Anthony Hopkins and Stanislavski at NYU” vs “I really want to be an actor.”Children want other people to make things happen for them. Professionals do things. So if you want to be an actor, do the following:Study. Take classes and workshops. Study from the best people available in your area. Learn different techniques, various methods.Perform in everything you can that involves acting. You may not be able to get into a Broadway play or a multi-million dollar film, but you can do community theater and perform in small student films. Do everything you can and as you get more skilled, you should see more and more opportunities open up.Create an acting resume, set it next to your computer, and everyday look at it and ask yourself what you are doing to expand and improve it.Eventually, you will have strong training, a large resume, and a long list of credits. Then people will take you seriously.
