Why can't I connect to my 5GHz WiFi network?
To be honest this is a very vague question with a lot of different potential reasons for failure, but ill do my best to provide some different solutions to common scenarios I’ve run across. I will start with some “Duh” answers and move progressively more towards “Ah-ha”s.Turn off and turn on the Wifi of the device you are trying to connectRestart the deviceRestart the modem/routerLog in as the administrator of the router and make sure you have the right WiFi passwordIf it is your network you can even try changing it temporarily to a more simple password, one you just “couldn’t possibly mess up” and testing to ensure that that isnt the cause.If some devices can connect, but others cant then depending on the age of the device you are using it could be a capability issue. In the network world 5GHz Wifi is known as (802.11ac). This was developed in 2008 but was not widely adopted in phones/laptops/wireless dongles until 2013 (-ish). You may be using a device who’s WiFi card cannot pickup and read those 5G signals. When Roku does not connect to an Apple Airport router and assuming you have not forgotten your wireless network's password and are entering the correct one, the problem resides in the security settings of the Airport itself. To change these security settings go to airport utility>click manual set up>click on wireless and you will get to the security settings.
