Does braiding your hair make it grow faster?

Nothing makes hair grow faster. No pill, serum, oil, massage, voodoo....nothing. Those who claim to have a product that makes hair grow faster are laughing all the way to the bank. And braiding it certainly does not make it grow faster.

Time and getting your ends trimmed every 6 to 8 weeks is the only way to get long hair. If you don't keep your ends trimmed, your hair will split up the hair shaft and break off.
Average hair growth in a healthy person is one-quarter to one-half inch per month. Use good shampoos, conditioners, and styling products. I use and recommend Framesi Options products. They are the only ones I use for my hair and in my salon and the only ones I recommend because they are the best I have found and I've been in this business for more than 15 years.

Does braiding your hair make your hair grow faster?

I cut my hair realllyyyy short to the point where I can barely grab it because it was damaged. I am able to grab it to braid it, I was just wondering if this is going to speed up the process! And also any tips on how to grow hair faster?

Does braiding your hair really help it grow faster and how long will it take?

Braiding your hair could indeed help it grow faster. Here's a quote from a hair-care professional:

"When you pull your hair from the roots, in any given pressure, you force the hair to exit the follicle faster. Its not like it will grow out in inches, but it does pull on the hair follicles and forces hair growth inadvertently. Thereby it does help your hair actually grow a little faster. If you leave your hair up on top of your head, like I do every night, it'll grow even faster. Why? Because the hair roots on top of your head grow UP. If you lift your hair UP in line with your hair follicles, then its bound to grow faster. Its in a natural line to grow out."

There are other things you can do in addition to speed up the process:

-Get a regular scalp massage (in particular, a hot oil massage).

-Rinse your hair weekly to get rid of residue that clogs your pores.

-Flip your head upside down for about 2-4 minutes each day (sounds weird, but it is said to stimulate hair follicles by reversing the flow of blood).

-Use homemade hair masks.

-Trim hair to remove split ends.

-Eat a diet rich in B vitamins, proteins and irons

Does braiding your hair actualy make it grow faster?

No, it's a wives tale...I wish though!

Does braiding hair really make it grow faster?{10 points}?

Healthy hair is what makes strong, shiny, long hair. Not applying too much heat and tight styles is a good start. Keeping split ends trimmed and hair conditioned is extremely important. Depending on your hair type a deep conditioner about once per week is enough. Leave in conditioners on a more regular basis is a good idea if your hair is badly damaged and dry.

If you have ethnic hair, really shop around for the proper products. Shampoos with high sulfate content usually dries out that hair type and is better for white people hair because it tends to be more oily. If you want a more natural approach without chemicals (if you do not have oily hair), try baking soda, water mix to regularly scrub your scalp and then every other day shampoo it with traditional shampoo. You could also try apple cider vinegar/water mix instead of the baking soda.

Nutrition wise, you can take biotin supplements or a general multivitamin that has biotin in it. Biotin increases the growth and health of skin, hair and nails. It is important to get biotin and not just some product stating that it will help the growth cycle without the ingredients backing it up ( hundreds of scams out there). The max. for biotin daily is about 5000mcg daily but toy with it because some people only need 1000 while others can handle all 5000 (personally I take 2200 daily). See what works for you. Another product is GNC's nourishair. Its in a purplish box. Both are pretty cheap. I got my biotin from CVS for like $2.

As for the photo, shiny hair can be had by all hair types if you keep it moisturized (not greasy or oily), strong and overall healthy. Keep in mind that if you have ethnic hair it is harder to get super shiny hair though because even if super healthy, the texture and how the light hits it usually won't have that effect.

Finally, braiding does help your hair faster. It only does this if the braids are thick and not thin little micro braids or tightly pulling at your scalp. If you see little bumps or it hurts after a few hours, take them out. The braids help to stimulate your scalp since its constant yet gentle pulling. Braids like cornrows are better for that than individuals which usually just pull out hair because there is not enough support.

Does braiding/plaiting your hair all the time make it grow faster?

idk my mum said when i was younger and she used to do my hair, she would put it in pigtail plaits or a normal braid all the time and it would grow really fast, but now because i'm older and i've stopped braiding it (except overnight) it's stopped growing- it's at the length between my breasts and shoulders (i used to LOVE having short hair years ago)

10 points: Do braids make your hair grow faster? ?

there is a misconception that braids make your hair grow. Actually, braids only preserve the hair attached to the scalp so their would be no occurrence of breakage. What makes your hair grow is proper care such as using shampoos without harsh sulfates and unhealthy alcohols and regular conditioning treatments.

But continue to braid your hair. This time, use 1/2 an ounce of Nutiva Extra Virgin Coconut Oil while styling.

Does braiding promote hair growth?

The most important thing to factor in when having your hair in braids is, care and maintenance. It’s not as easy as just putting your hair in braids and expecting flowing results once you take them out.Simply put, braids do not make hair grow . They can however as a protective style, assist with retaining new growth.Everyone’s hair will grow every month. Some a little, others a little bit more. The greatest consideration is if that growth can be retained. When deciding to install, micro braids, box braids, crochet braid etc. you should consider factoring in a care plan/routine to have the best opportunity to retain growth. Before the braidsDeep condition and detangle your hair. You may also want to blow dry your hair out to minimise tangles. This will reduce any potential pulling and tugging when your braids are being installed.Maintaining the BraidsYour hair should be regularly moisturised to help with keeping your hair strands well maintained and reduce dryness and therefore breakage. When you sleep at night, wrap your braids in a satin scarf, this can also help to retain moisture in your hair.Taking out BraidsBraids shouldn’t be kept in for more than 1.5-2 months. The weight of the extensions on new growth for lengthy periods of time is likely to cause breakage. This is a key step. Some people report at least 1.5 inches of hair growth after taking out braids. However if braids have not been maintained well whilst they’re in and they’re not removed carefully, this growth will soon break off. Your braids should be moisturised before take down and carefully unravelled. When you get to the top of the strand, there may be some build up that fuses the hair together. Don’t pull! Take some olive oil and carefully separate the hair. Then wash and condition your hair.Wait a few weeks before putting in another set of braids. For more info on maintaining braids, visit Afropiqq.
