Help Getting Steam Off Of A Flash Drive

Can I install Steam games onto this flash drive and then play and save my data on it?

In regards to the other comment actually you can. New Windows allows NTFS on a FLASH drive, and considering it is USB3 it will have a fast enough transfer rate to use most but not all games. The biggest problem you will have is space, considering it is only a 32 gig drive you will run out rather quickly.Main reason I know this can be done, is i have my entire Steam library on a portable drive, and I have a couple hundred gigs of data from Steam alone, plus about 1k different mods loaded for some of them, and mine runs just fine through USB 3. Now I would not suggest using a flash drive, but I would suggest a portable drive with an SSD,Other than that only thing you can do is try, nothing ventured nothing gained. Let me know how it goes.

How do i get a steam screenshot on to a flash drive?

F12, it will be in your folder, then you need to move it to flash drive. Btw, when you quit game, it will ask you where to save it probably.

Can I run Steam games off of a flash drive?

I've just installed Linux Ubuntu on my Acer C-710 Chromebook, and now I have Steam. The gaming that I do does not demand incredible graphics power, so the dual booting chromebook should suffice if I ever want to play away from my desktop. The issue is, the Chromebook has only 16GB of Storage. This means that I can't download any games, like Counter-Strike Global Offensive, which is a few gigabytes. Both of the OS's take up the majority of the storage on the computer. My question is, if I were to purchase a flash drive and download a game onto the flash drive, would I be able to play the game (let's say CSGO for example), as long as the drive is connected to the computer? Thank you :)

I have some Steam games installed on a flash drive. How do I change the run location from the local SSD to the flash drive?

You will have to install the games to that location via your current installation of Steam. Then you can move over your save files and other user data. I do not know of a way to make Steam games “portable”.You can also use a program like Steam Spreader to move already installed games to another location. The program automatically puts what are called “Directory Junctions” or “Hard Links” (part of the NTFS file system that Windows uses) into the old location, and they act as a sort of redirect that points Steam (and Windows) to the new location.

Can I download Team Fortress 2 to my flash drive?

I have a 4GB SanDisk Cruzer Flash Drive and I want to download TF2 from Steam, seeing as how my PS3 version doesn't get updates. Now, my XP-running PC is a tad bogged-down space-wise. Is it possible to put TF2 on my flash drive (or even just some of it?) and be able to play it decently on my PC?

What size flash drive for tf2?

I've been looking for a flash drive with a high capacity and decent read speed for running steam and playing team fortress 2. I was reading about the size of the game + steam + the source engine and have been told it's 10 GB, so I decided on a 16GB transcend jetflash 600 16 gb or a Patriot XPorter XT 16GB. However, i recently read somewhere else that TF2 is about 15GB, and since the capacity of a formatted 16 GB flash drive is actually about 14 or 15 GB, i was wondering if I should sacrifice some speed for capacity. (Im trying to keep the cost under 25 bucks on amazon) I was wondering what the size of steam plus TF2 fully updated is right now, so if I could get some help, that would be great.

Spore on a flash drive?

Okay well Im not sure wether you have it on steam or not so ill tell you both ways.
If you dont have steam it is very simple. All you have to do is find your spore folder which contains the whole game. Then click your start button, click computer, then click your flash drive once opened just drag your spore folder into the flash drive.

For steam uninstall then reinstall and set it so it installs into your flash however sometimes it will be glitchey if you do this.
I hoped this helped.

Which drive and folder should I install Steam and games in?

It really depends upon your prefernces and how much space you have. For example I have 2 drives (technically 3 but it’s not hooked up at the moment and it a really old drive.) On my first drive (a 250gb Samsung 850 EVO) I have my OS, all my major programs and 2 games (ArmA 3 and The Witcher 3) I chose this because space is limited on my ssd. On my other drive ( a 1tb WD Blue HDD) I have all my other programs, games, and other files. If you have multiple different drive (similar to my setup) I’d say put the 1–3 games you play most on your main drive or on the fastest drive (if using just hdds) and put the rest on the one with the most avalible space. As far a which folder. Both of my drives have a folder just for steam games. They are labeled as Steam (under Program Files on my C drive) and Steam Library ( on my D drive). Steam will help you setup the first one automatically when you install Steam. The other one can be setup manually like any other folder and linked to Steam or Steam can help you set it up as well. I did it really simply so that I wouldn’t have to hunt for my games folder if I needed to change something.TL:DR, Any folder you want really and on whichever drive you want to put it on.

Can i play Left 4 dead on a flash Drive?

I would download from steam and then coppy it onto a 8 gig flash drive. IF i did this could i play the game from the flashdrive without installing anyting on the computer. Also speed would be an issue and id be concened about that as well.
