Traumatic Brain Injury. Please help.?
My sister (35) was involved in a car accident last month (22 August). She has a severe brain damage. She is still in hospital. She went into a coma. She was in ventilator for about 3 weeks. She can now breathe on her own but still appears to be unconscious. Doctors say that the recovery is very very slow. Her left part is not moving i.e. she cannot open her left eye, cannot move her left foot and hand. There is some movement in the right side. Most of the time her eyes are closed and when she can open her right eye it's for a moment only. I cannot say that she can see. cannot say that she can hear me. She cannot talk for the moment. May be because of the tube which is still in her throat. Three days ago the doctor told us that we have to accept what has happened. Her brain has been damaged and one does not get out of brain damage. He recommended that as soon as she leaves the hospital we have to provide her with physiotherapy and rehabilitation. Unfortunately, we have no rehabilitation centre in Mauritius. So we have to do it at home. We have also been told that we have to build up on what has been left. Sooner or later we might have to accept it. But for now we are living on hope. I've also been told that there are cases where patients have recovered from very bad cases. I've searched the internet and learned about rehabilitation centres (mostly in the US). Although I cannot afford to send her in a rehabilitation centre in the USA it helped me to understand what is required. Still, I've got to take some short term and long term decisions. I want to do my best and if time is of essence, I do not want to lose it. Please I need some advice. Thank you.
Do I have brain damage or am I worring too much? PLEASE HELP?
My Mom smacked my head yesterday and pulled my hair. She also smacked my face, ripping off my glasses. It has been 24 hours and I still have a headache. Is this brain damage? I am a hypochrondriac and I have been worrying about this non stop since this happened. I am so depressed, thinking I will not be as smart as I once was. Did this cause damage? If I went to the doctor, could they look at my head and determine damage without an expensive MRI? My friends are telling me I am not brain damaged and a headache will be normal for a few days but I can't stop worrying. How much will a brain scan cost? Want can I do to stop the worrying. I am terrified I have mild brain damage. Fortunately, I did not lose consciousness or blackout. I have no other symptoms but the headache. I have a stiff neck but that might be nerves. I can't sleep because I am so worried I might have brain damage. Please help!! If I told the doctor this would he think I am crazy?
How do you know if you got caused brain damage?
Someone hit me in the head with their hands....about 5 to 10 times. I had a headache afterward and it has been 2 days and I still have a headache, although not as bad. Did I get my brain damaged? I am really worried that this might have cuased damage! How do I know if my brain is damaged? Should I get an MRI or EEG scan?? Will they be able to tell my looking at my brain? If it was just their hand is it not that bad? I hope I don't have learning problems please help I am so worried! If I didn't lose conciousness, is that a good sign? I mean don't serious brain damage you have to lose conciousness or go into a coma? My mom says it is fine it is just that my head is a lil bruised and it will be fine in a few days pleas ehlp
Betta fish brain damage?
1. I'm not sure, their brain is so tiny that I would think if anything happened to his head and his brain got damaged that he would die, but as I said, I'm not sure. 2. He could just be a bit crazy cuz my betta did that when I first brought him home but he's still healthy so he was just being nutty. He could be seeing his reflection? On the more serious side, he may have a parasite and he's trying to rub it off. I'd look for signs of parasites or fungus. 3. yes. Clean water meaning clear but also free of ammonia. Try adding a dash of aquarium salt. EDIT: if you're sure it's not a swim bladder issue, then maybe he does have brain damage :( I'm sorry. EDIT EDIT I truly don't know what could be up. It's a weird situation which is why you're probably not going to get good answer. Yea like you said, it may be clearer if you could upload a video of his swimming or something. EDIT EDIT EDIT: yea I tend to avoid meds if I can, a lot of problems with parasites and fungus have been treated with just heat and salt. I feel like meds do more harm than good. I had a betta that I tried treating Ick with Ick Away and the poor thing became so sluggish and run down from it. And please don't listen to that horrible person who said just to forget about it and get a new one. That's just mean.
