Help I Had A Chinese Son What To Do

Thinking of buying my son a cheap chinese atv? Tao tao 110cc.?

It is a throw away for sure. I don't know of any problems first hand, but I don't really know anyone that owns a Chinese ATV. I would be at least a little concerned about safety though, throttle cable hanging, brakes not working properly etc. Not saying that will happen, but it would be a concern knowing the quality and lack of QC on these products. You could probably find a used Japanese quad for the same price that would be far better. I know you don't want to give something used as a Christmas present, but you may be able to find one in used mint condition. Just an idea.

Chinese family culture?

No, I think you're independent, not cold-blooded. In China it's traditional for the son to take care of his parents. That is why sons are wanted more than daughters. The daughter would take care of her husband's family, while the son took care of his own. I think your husband sees it as dishonor to his parents if he doesn't take care of them, and might even be offended if his own son didn't take care of him when he gets older. In America (and other parts of the world), parents raise their kids to stand on their own while they themselves do the same. So, no, I think you are just thinking with the values you grew up with while your husband is thinking with the values he grew up with. You're definitely not cold-blooded

Why did Chinese people prefer sons over daughters in the past?

It goes way back to thousands years ago when the society and hierarchy started to form.Simply put, this is the legacy of the ancient social system established in the end of Shang dynasty, which aims to solve the problem of heritage. To put it another way, it set the rules about who is gonna take over whatever the parents leave behind after they die. This is called Zong Fa Zhi in Chinese. You will find the answer after you get to know how it works:Kings usually take ten or more lawful wives in ancient China, but the first one is always the rightful one and is expected to lead the others. And the first son of the first wife always has the best claim of the kingship. If the first son dies, the next in line would be the second son of the first wife.( The sequence is illustrated in the tree diagram)Mind you, this system is typical in the royal family, but goes way beyond that. It applies to every houses. Then let's take a look at the situation facing the girls. When they come of age for marriage, girls will be married to men and become one member of the men’s family. Mind you, this is what differentiates the ancient marriage from the current ones. Girls are even not allowed to go back to their biological parents for life. So by definition, if girls takes over everything in the family, it'll literally go to another family at the end of day.Now if you really think about it, it makes perfect sense in the ancient times. (Not at all considered against modern values tho). And this system lasted thousand years. Until now some areas this concept is still deep rooted in people’s thoughts. Even if not, some families still face the issue of heritage when they have multiple kids.To sum up and bluntly speaking, it's due to the ingrained concept that girls belong to others when they get married. Just like the old Chinese saying which goes something like: to marry a girl is like pouring a bucket of water (which can never be retrieved).Hope that answers your question… if you like it, remember to upvote.. Never got one since I got on Quora~

Why do Asians(Indians, Chinese) prefer sons to daughters?

Such a good question, In ancient China, which was a country that evolved into an agricultural based civilisations, this meant that we no longer had to hunt for food and the idea of settlement had flourished which gave birth to civilisation. This meant that you need more labour in the family to cultivate food in order to sustain yourself in an environment where due to continuous stability and city development, helped to increase sanitation and led to growing populations.More people meant more food demand, however the arable land were limited, and the tools for farming were not that advanced yet, so people relied on human labour to increase crop harvest. In order to carry heavy farming tools and participate in intensive labour, men became the desired labour force in the market, whereas household works were taken care of by women. As a result, the power in the society geared towards men who were the sole provider of the family. Simply because Greater responsibility comes with greater power.Men were expected to provide food and security for the family which are the main pillars of a healthy and successful family life. So it’s no wonder people prefer son over daughter, because giving birth to a son meant extra pair of hands in the family, it ensured better survival in an increasingly competitive agricultural society.

Change my sons xbox settings back to english from chinese. (not 360)?

Ok even though it's in a different language it should still be easy to get it back in english even though it's in a foreign language. I think the settings option is the second bar you gotta click on if I remember correctly. Make sure you don't have any videogames in the xbox otherwise it will run the game instead of giving you what you want which is the settings.
After that it should show all the languages you need so that you can change it back to english.

Why do Chinese families call the first child 'Bee'?

I'm Cantonese and grew up in San Francisco and I've heard many families call their first born sons (and maybe daughters but I only knew sons) this.  It might just have to do with the fact that the word baby in Cantonese (and close dialects) is "beebee" (plus the tones) and they got use to referring to their first born as the short form "bee".My cousin who immigrated from Guangdong recently had two sons a couple years apart and he would also call the eldest one "bee" as a nickname.  I guess it's what the kid got used to as my parents also refer to him the same way.
