Help I Just Adopted A Kitten And He Has Turned Very Skittish

My cat is very skittish, will she grow out of it?

You may just have a skittish cat and you may just have to have a lot of patience. My Maine Coon, Samson will sleep with me, follow me around the house, chirp at me - but will run away the next minute. I got him when he was 4, he's 6 now and still skittering. Just love your cat during the quiet cuddle times, and laugh at the skittish ones. Good luck!!

Are ALL black cats skittish or shy?

We currently have a gray tabby domestic shorthair, he is very friendly and we want him to have a playmate.
My dad wants a black kitten.
I am pretty sure not all cats are the same due to their fur color, but I also want to be sure, but are all black cats unfriendly or shy?

if you have a black cat or more than one I ESPECIALLY want to hear from you,

What do you do if your new kitten is so scared of you it runs and won't eat or drink?

Just adopted a new toirtieshell 4 mo old kitten and its been so scared that it hides and I don't think it has eaten or drinken any food or water for 2-3 going on 4 days? what to do. Gave it a catnip toy. please help

Will my dog {Chihuahua} ever recover and stop being so skittish? ?

I adopted a chihuahua 3 months ago and I suspect he was abused. he has learned to trust me and love me but does not want to be around anyone else. Hes also very loyal to me. I have never seen a any dog not like my husband and Taco will not let him near him. Hes very scared of every little noise and if I leave the house, he gets major separation anxiety. Hes warming up to my 5 yr old son a little but I dont understand what it is about my husband or anyone else. My first Chi was toby and he passed over a year ago and I was finally ready to get another one. Toby was soooooo friendly and loved EVERYONE! He loved me the most and I know chi's usually pick their favorite person but Taco doesn't even play with toys. He seems miserable and we try to do everything we can to give him the best life ever and show him theres so much better than what hes had before. Hes a year now. Do you think he will ever come around?

I’ve had my cat since he was a baby, why is he so skittish?

You have a teenager on your hands. Get a feather on a stick and PLAY with him. It’s called bonding and he needs it. After half an hour of good productive play, you’ll know what he loves best to chase and, tomorrow, you do it again at the same time of day. Repeat, and repeat, and repeat. Cats need exercise, puzzles to solve (how to catch the feather THIS time), excitement, and more exercise. You need bonding experience with the cat. You both win.

Should I get rid of my skittish cat I can no longer care for?

I have an adorable cat that I've had for 6 years. I love her, but I feel like I can no longer take care of her like she deserves to be taken care of. I am a full time student now and I live with parents who have been moving almost every six months because of the economy. She is a very skittish cat and only comes out to use the litter box and at 6 am and 6pm to be fed. I am always gone at work or school and cannot find time to keep her litter cleaned all the time, let alone find money for vet visits and medication when I can barely support myself. Since she is terrible around other people and doesn't like to be picked up, what should I do? Should I just have her put down? I love her, but I can't take care of her and it's not fair to either of us. She can't get on with other people, and I can't even take her to the vet or take her with me when it's time to move without her peeing all over my seat and screaming like crazy.
Before you think her behavior is a result of my or my family's treatment of her, not so. I adopted her from a lady who was not taking care of her at all, and I believe she was previously abused.
Advice anyone?

Should I be worried about my kitten breathing fast?

it has decreased, she is now purring and cuddling up to me, I am also wondering if it is possible for her to come out of this being scared all the time, and is there anything i can do to help her become more comfortable?
