Can a 21 year old have heart disease?

You can have heart disease, but in someone your age it is very rare. In most cases someone that is 21 years old has not lived long enough to cause damage to the heart that smoking, poor nutrition and lack of exercise would do over the span of a couple decades. You could have an electrical problem within your heart. If you have been having a very fast heartbeat (tachycardia) or an irregular heartbeat((arrhythmia) that is severe enough it could cause symptoms. You did not say what makes you think you have a heart problem. Some heart condition symptoms are: difficulty breathing upon any exertion, dizziness, fainting, fatigue, feeling weak, chest pain to name a few. In one year in the USA only one person in approximately 30,000 is diagnosed with a heart condition that is under the age of 34. Statistics vary widely depending on what study you read, but for a 21 yr old the odds are far less than one in 30,000. If for any reason you feel you do have a heart problem you should make an appointment with your doctor to have your heart checked out. Some doctors have an ECG unit (electrocardiogram) in their office. If the ECG shows anything suspicious the doctor may refer you to a cardiologist.

Im worried i have heart disease?

There are a lot of different lung sounds, caused by different things. Asthma causes wheezing, which is a kind of musical sound (but not music we like to hear). Fluid in the lungs causes a crackly sound called rales.

You can hear these sounds and others here:
http://www.umshp.org/rt/sounds/sounds.ht...

Sometimes the sounds you hear are not lung sounds, but upper airway noises.

If you're concerned, get yourself examined by a doctor. If there's nothing to worry about, you'll have piece of mind knowing that everything is OK. If there is a problem, you can get it treated.

Can a 15 year old have a Heart Attack?

I know this might be a really ridiculous question, but I recently had some sort of anxiety/panic attack (chest pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, etc.) and ever since that I had some sort of fear of having a heart attack.

Again I know it's pretty ridiculous. Anways, I'm 15 years old, I don't drink, smoke, or do drugs (of course). I am overweight, but I play lots of sports. I occasionally eat fast food when I need to eat a quick dinner or something, but not often. I usually eat homemade meals mostly healthy.

I know I can't get a heart attack, but my family has a record of Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, and I think Heart Problems. All I was wondering was if it was possible for me to get a heart attack at my age. I was also wondering if you guys have any advice for those anxiety/panic attacks.

Thanks! :D

Can ejection fraction increase in a man with congestive heart failure? My boyfriend, 39, was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, and 10% ejection fraction. He managed to rebuild to 40%, went without medication, and dropped to 11%. Can he heal?

As a physician with heart disease myself i have different insight than most doctors when it comes to the heart. I also used to read echocardiograms for a living if that helps you understand i have an intimate knowledge of the heart outside of numbers and books. Your boyfriend needs a viability study or in other words a nuclear stress test or stress echo so that the cardiologist can see if he has hybernating myocardium or a lot of scar tissue. After that i agree with the previous physician who stated the baseline meds he needs to be on. Cardiac rehab is tricky but i had a patient who was able to rehab himself with an ejection fraction of 10 but he was very ,, well anal about it, haha. Overexercising a sick heart in other words isnt smart but not exercising a sick heart in my anecdotal experience is not healthy either. I think taking fish oil and vitamin supplements may help with lipids and antioxidants which in my opinion play a minor but important role over time. Check out some older trials such as the RALES trial which was eluded to earlier but there are studies which have not been reproduced yet that show some possible reversibility of coronary disease using diet so i think americans are sleeping on diet and stress reduction. Cortisol and adrenaline destroy a perfectly good heart. I know personally being an ER doctor. Hope that helps.

How many times could you have a heaart attack before you die?

It is not the number of heart attacks but the severity of the attack, the promptness of treatment, and the degree of recovery that would most determine death. One person may have a series of small attacks and recover well someone else may have one major attack and be dead in seconds. If there is a question as to the health of your heart or that of someone you care about or if someone is claiming heart attacks and you question it a doctor visit is in order. Even if someone has faked before one never knows when it could be real so if they claim the symptoms of a heart attack dial 911.
