Help I Want A Puppy But I Think My Dad Is Allergic To Dogs

Help! I want a cat but my Dad is allergic to cats and dogs!?

You can have a cat when you move out. Why make your dad suffer? Why don't you get a parrot or a fish?

HELP!!!!! I want a puppy but I think my dad is allergic to dogs!!!!?

Yorkies are hyporlergic (which means u cnt b allergic to them) and don't produce much dander (the stuff that makes u allergic 2 them) and morkies because they are half Maltese are also hyporlergic and oftob have a soft wool type feel to it so if u want a dog which is hyporlergic I would suggest a morkie (I have one and my friend is allergic to dogs and she can stroke him and not get any symptoms of being allergic) or a Maltese because they have morkie like hair but it is harder to maintain as it is white and they can get tear stains and dirty hair and not a mostly yorkie dog because they can still produce small amounts of dander and your dad may react to him so you can have a hypoallergenic Dog Star of darknes because I have one
Hope this helps :) x

This girl I am dating is allergic to my dog. What do I do?

Suggest over the counter allergy medications. Itch relief eye drops may help as well. If she’s coming to your house, clean like crazy. Look up some effective ways to get rid of the most of amount of pet hair possible. Be sure to disinfect and dust everything. You’ll probably have to keep the dog put up while she is there. Make sure the dog can be in a kennel or have a friend or family member take it while you have her over. Make sure your clothes are free of pet daunders as well. Literally just clean and dust EVERYTHING. And keep the dog out of the area she is going to be in prior to her coming over. Lint rollers may be your best friend as well. I have had several friends allergic to pets and if I do these things they are usually just fine. Tell her not to touch her face or rub her eyes while she’s at your place. You may be able to keep the dog out, but only if the dog can keep it’s distance. Probably no closer than 10 feet to be safe. And if you guys stay together for a long time, she could probably build more of a tolerance to the dog slowly but surely. But definitely tell her to take over the counter meds ahead of time. Wash hands frequently. Stuff like that. And vacuum, obviously. Repeatedly.

My dad is allergic to cats, but I would still like to adopt a cat, is this possible?

Frankly, I’m glad to hear you can’t get a cat from a breeder. For one thing, they aren’t ‘hypoallergenic’, but more importantly, buying from a breeder, is one of the major reasons so many shelter cats are killed. ADOPT ONLY.That said, it really depends on how allergic your dad is, and what he is willing to do. When I met my husband he was allergic to cats. When he realized that if he were to ask me to choose between him and my cat, (not that he would ever asked that) that the cat would have won, he just made a decision to be around and accept the cat.He never did shots or anything, he just spent time around her and eventually his allergies stopped bothering him. We have had cats our entire marriage. Still, if he gets around other cats he might get a little itchy, but when our cats died, and we got others, we just made sure to get a short haired cat.Allergies are to the cat’s saliva. I recommend that if that cat’s life is going to be diminished because of the allergies, you wait until you get your own place. It’s wrong to keep cats separated, un-pet, and all cats, for their safety, should be indoor only. Bathing many cats is downright cruel. Cats are very clean animals and while might help the allergic person, it’s miserable for the cat. If your father can’t live harmoniously with your cat and let the cat be a full and complete part of the family, then you need to wait to get a cat until you are on your own.If your father loves cats, he may be willing to see if his allergies subside, or he may be willing to take shots or meds. But when you adopt a cat, you are responsible for that cat’s happiness, safety and well-being for up to a 20+ year commitment. Your responsibility to the cat comes first since you are the one who has made the decision to adopt. If your father’s allergies are more important, don’t get a cat.

If you're alergic to cats can you still have a dog?

Well I'm allergic to cats and dogs and I have had dogs all my life lol. Allergies to both species do kinda come hand in hand, however it is not always so. So get you're dad's girlfriend to get an allergy test. It is only really fluffy dogs that bother me now. I love dogs and have had so many that I think my body has become slightly immune. If it does turn out that she is allergic and you are desperate for one, get a short or single coated dog.

My dad is allergic to dogs, but i found a dog that is hypoallergenic?

No dog is actually hypoallergenic. They MIGHT cause less of a response in SOME people. But not for those who are extremely allergic. The shedding doesn't matter. It is the saliva and dander that most people are allergic to.

You could EASILY find a better behaved dog from an actual breeder, for possibly less than the pet store. Better yet, you could ADOPT one. A 'maltipoo' is just a mutt. And as I and others have said, no dog will cause no allergic reaction. Buying from pet stores IS supporting Puppy mills, and what they do to their dogs.

EDIT

Your dad should get a second opinion, because people are not allergic to dog HAIR. They are allergic to proteins in saliva and dander (dead skin). The protein is also present in the hair follicle, but if that is what he is allergic to, then he is also allergic to the DANDER, which will cause REACTIONS. If your fathers "Allergy specialist" thinks he is allergic to the hair, he needs to see a REAL specialist who knows what they are talking about.
