How do I stop my sister from using my laptop?

(note - mac doesn't have facial recognition locked up.. my Alienware with Win 7 also has it) 1) Password protect the operating system - all user accounts. ( of course, older Windows machines this won't help) 2) Add a BIOS password - so when the machine boots up, it cannot even read the hard drive unless you put in a password. Don't make it too easy. 3) take battery, AC power adapter, and anything else you can - hide them in different places or take them with you. 4) get a small screwdriver, and remove the hard disk. Pretty easy to do, just check the instructions from mfr. website. 5) spring for $8 and get a kensington lock - chain it to your bed frame or closet rod. 6) spring for $25, and get a kensington lock with a 125 decibel alarm (heh!) 7) steal all your sister's black pens. (no more ink marks) 8) go to the basement / utility room, and turn off the power breakers to your sister's room. 9) install a keylogger on your computer, then after sister uses computer - embarrass her by logging in to Facebook / myspace/ unicorn world/ whatever.. and make weird comments. Maybe just change her account passwords so she can't use the computer for anything. She is your sister.. so don't do anything really weird or insulting to her friends. 10) make a mold of your computer, fill it with concrete. After it cures, smooth it down and paint the outside so it looks kinda like yours. Leave the "decoy' where sister can find it, while you find a good hiding place for your machine.
Should I buy my little sister a laptop?
i would get her a Chromebook. Couple hundred bucks. if all she is using it for is webrowsing and social media, a chrome book would be perfect. not as powerful as a windows or mac machine, but A) its 800 dollars cheaper and B) just as likely to be as safe from virus's as a Mac. She's 9. If she complains about not getting a 1000 dollar laptop meant for professional use she is honestly too spoiled

It is likely you are actually running out of hard drive space, not memory. It may be possible to add a hard drive to your laptop, however that feature is available on a limited number of laptops. Probably the easiest fix to implement is to purchase an external hard drive that connects to your laptop via USB. You can then use it to store files and clear space off of the laptop hard drive. Another course for you is to reduce the amount of disk space you are using on your laptop. There are several things you can do to increase the available space on your disk: Uninstall programs you no longer use or never intend to use Delete documents, photos, videos, music files you no longer need Burn documents, photos, & media files you want to keep but don't need to have on your hard drive to removable disk (CD or DVD). Then delete the copy on your hard disk. Delete emails & attachments you no longer need if stored on your pc. Use Disk Cleanup to automatically remove many unnecessary items I recommend doing both - clear off as much space as possible on your laptop hard drive by doing the above, and keep an external drive to store things on in the future. You can get 500GB drives for less than $100 (AUD) online usually.
How can I ask my dad to buy me a laptop?
I really really want a laptop because my sister comes in my room to use the computer and I don't like it because she plays her music when I am trying to do other stuff. I would really like having my own laptop so we can put this computer in a different room. The problem is I don't know how I should approach him when I ask for it. Getting new laptop, need help deciding?
my sister has decided to get a new laptop, and she is unsure what to get. the salesman at best buy was making such great sounding offers, and my sister, being the stupid sister she is, followed his advice like he was god. i managed to force her out of buying a $1000 laptop that obviously sucked, and told her id do some research. though nowadays im short on time, so i need a laptop reccomendation. the laptop is only going to be used to check e-mail, type, and the occasional youtube video. it does not need a disk drive, and it doesnt have to be big and fancy. it should have windows vista, and a 3-4 hr battery life, and have a 'nice big screen' as my sister puts it. also, if it could be in the 400-500 dollar range, that would be nice. i was thinking of a gateway LT3114u laptop, and if that was a good choice. also, can you reccomend some other laptops in that range? thx

I too got Laptop therefore I think I should answer you. Do not spend on upgrading because you got older laptop. In laptop you can change hard disk or memory card which your maker allow(see user manual or ask maker). You can not change sound card. There are a lot which you can not upgrade in your older PC. Time has changed Vista has taken control though xp is still in use, so if you have older laptop even if you upgrade it will not work as it should. I got 100 G Disk and more than 786 memory, Athlon 4 but it seems I still need much faster. As you need for game too my honest suggestion to you is: Go to buy old laptop but not older than one year. Why? because even if you upgrade your present laptop sooner you will have to buy an other one just calculate how many more years you can use your old laptop, add upgrade charges and check the total sum. Recommendation under $1000 is based on your need. Go to old computer shop(do not buy online) check yourself, tell the sales person your budget and need you can get best one. Now a day Dell is getting popular in Japan as they are best and cheaper. Do not go for brand prefer your need and budget. I hope this may help you nihon94
