Why am I losing so much hair?

I'm 21, and ever since I started college, I've been shedding like crazy. In high school, I had thick, wavy hair, but now it's so thin that I can see a lot of scalp when my hair is wet. I know this isn't some genetic disease. I've had lots of stress in college, and wear my hair up almost all the time, but not too tight. What could be a reason that I'm losing so much hair? Would those hair growth sprays from commercials also work on me?

I am losing so much eyebrow hair- help?

Eyebrows hair loss is a symptom that can be related to one of two thyroid disorderd:
1- Hypothyroid (too little hormone) such as Hashimoto's thyroiditis
2. Hyperthyroidism (too much hormone) such as Graves' disease.

I can relate, I had to use eyebrow pencils when this problem happened to me in addition to feeling tired all the time, and other symptoms, then I was diagnosed with Graves' so severe my Dr. thought I might have died in a few days if it was not discovered on time. Sometimes thyroid disorders don’t show up in a blood test and are better diagnosed by the symptoms. Thyroid disorders can be fatal if not treated. Fortunately, diagnosis of thyroid problems is relatively specific by blood tests of thyroid hormone levels. Read more about it online and make an appointment with your primary care to do blood tests in case it's something else, but also ask them also to do a blood test to check the levels and amount of thyroid hormones levels.

I'm 18 and losing my hair. what should I do?

Coconut oil will be good if you have dry and frizzy hair. It will help you to smoothen your hair and give some volume to it if you apply it daily. For dandruff use Head and Shoulders shampoo everyday .Even I used that and it actually works. I had dandruffs. Now its completely gone. You can follow some steps for your hair.Drink plenty of water. You can use the mixture of aloe vera gel and curd on your scalp. If you want to regrow your hair you have to use castor oil .Only castor oil can regrow hair. Eat a lot of carrots ,leafy vegetables and sprouts. Eat eggs and nuts/almonds .These helps to maintain healthy hair.Use the mixture of castor oil, olive oil and vitamin E capsule every night while going to bed. Make it lukewarm and Apply only on scalp with a cotton ball. Massage it gently. This will keep you calm and relaxed and help to increase blood circulation. Leave it overnight and wash your hair in the morning. Follow it for a month. You will regain your hair.Hope that helps.

Im 18, why am i losing so much hair?!?

Hi Michelle,

Hair loss is a very common problem among people. In most cases abnormal loosing of hair is a sign of health problems. What is abnormal loosing of hair? Do not panic if you loose from 50 to 100 hair per day – this is normal. If you clearly lose more or you see hairless spots on your head – see your doctor.

So 50-100 strands of hair loss is totally normal and in limits, but if you still want to have stronger hair against hair loss, i advice you to check the following web page, where you can find recent best 10 shampoos that help you to recover from your hair loss problem and they are really great. The page ALSO has information about the possible reasons of hair loss.

I advice you to give Nioxin a try. In the web page above you will also find some other information than just shampoos, such as how to prevent hair loss and what are the common reasons of it..

Hope this can help.

Everytime i take my hair down i lose about a quarter sized hair ball and when i wash it and brush it ,it is about 2 quarters, i also lose some hair during the day too. I don't use pruducts in my hair except hairspray on occasion. I can see a noticable decreas in the thickness of my hair, just a little but i don't want it to get out of hand. Sometimes when it is wet i but it in twist. Are there any shampoos that can make hair grow thicker and longer? I am scared and freaked out, please help.

Why is my sheltie losing so much hair?

I have a 6 yr old sheltie that I rescued a few months ago. Recently she has been losing a lot of hair, she has bald spots and her undercoat is completly gone. I know shelties blow their coat but this is way beyond that. I took her to the vet and they tested her thyroid , it came back normal. There are no physical signs of derma irritation except for the loss of hair. Does anyone have any other suggestions? There have been no changes in diet or meds either.
