Help Me Decide My Future

Can you help me decide a graduation degree for my future?

I have been studying colleges this past year as my daughter is also in 12 th. I recently read an article that listed Computer Science people as the top wage earners in the next 10 years of all degrees. So if you like CS and you are good at it , I would definitely go for that. Here is my other thought: The most important thing is that you go to undergrad, do something you like , do really well and then you can focus on what you really want TO DO as a graduate student. It is unrealistic to think that 17 or 18 yr olds are going to KNOW what they want to do for the rest of their lives. They can make an educated guess but that's about it. Chances are most people change their minds at least once if not twice.Pick a college where you feel comfortable , where you think you will be able to excel, don't pick a school where you will be the small fish in the big ocean, do just the opposite . Pick a major that excites you, that you can see yourself doing it, that is not the same job day in day out. A job that fits your personality.Visit campuses either in person or by virtual tour on line on the school website. Talk to some graduate students in computer science . They chair of the dept will have an email on line and you can ask . The more information you get the easier it will be to make a decision. Also ask your guidance counselor at school if they have any interest tests you can take , this may show you that you have interest in something you didn't even know about!Good Luck to you!

Can one sheet of paper can decide my future?

A famous proverb “Tomorrow is my Exam, but I don't' care because a single sheet of paper can't decide my future.” Most of the students these days follow this proverb. This quote is also marked as said by the famous scientist Thomas Edison. I do not know if the proverb is really from Edison and it may even be valid for him, but is it really valid for us people?I mean to say that we cannot compare ourselves from Thomas Edison. He was a man of patience who even after failing 1000 times, didn't leave the hope. He had that confidence, but do we have the same? Then, how can we say or validate the above proverb. No, we can't and we shouldn't. Instead, we must try to be more real and try to understand the reality.Suppose, you are going to appear in your final board exams and for whatever reason, you couldn't appear in the exam hall on time. What now? Isn't your future compromised? I am not saying that your future is no more and you are finished. It is not like that. But, you have just missed an opportunity to make your future better. So, what are your options now? In general, you won't be allowed to re-appear in the exam the same year. This means you have just wasted one year of your life. This answer is not aimed at frightening students, but to make them realize the importance of the exams and exam results. Yes, there are many people who have made great achievements in life even if they didn't score well in their academics, but this is not true for everyone. And if you really want to increase your chances of getting succeeded in your life, you must know the importance of the exam paper. The proverb if it was really said by Mr. Thomas Edison is meant to give hope to people who couldn't do well in their academics. The proverb is meant to encourage such people. One must not take it in the wrong way. Hard work is the key to success and there is no shortcut to it.Upvote if u find it useful.Follow for more.

My mom is trying to decide my future?

I have always wanted to be a doctor ever since I was a little girl. I really like Biology and the human body and those subjects interest me most. I am now 15 and going to be a sophomore in high school. I really want to get into a med school in the UK so i can be a doctor in 5-6 years instead of 8-10 in the US. My mom actually thought of the idea and i think it is cool. But it is really hard to get into a med school in the UK since they only accept 5% of international applicants. My mom told me that if i cannot get accepted into a UK college then i have to choose a different career path. She doesnt want me to be a doctoe here in the US. She said if i dont get accepted i will have to become a pharamacist or engineer, which clearly I do not want to be. She says that going to university for an extra 4 years for a bachelors degree is a waste of time and she doesnt want me to go to school for 8-10 years. amd i really cant be a doctor here without my mom's support because she is going to pay for me and there is no way that i can pay for myself.i'm taking IB classes now and currently i've gotten straight As this first year of high school. i'm also studying for SATs and what not even now. please i need some advice on this situation.

How do I decide what career I should choose for my future?

The truth of the matter is that this is a question that, sadly, only you can answer. I say sadly because this probably doesn’t help you much knowing that you have this much liberty to do literally anything you want with your career. You can become anything from an actuary to a zoologist. The list in between is enormous. The question to ask yourself is to imagine your life 10–15 years from now and to imagine where you would be and how you would work your way to that point in particular. That is a question that only you can answer. Sometimes advice from others on what to do in one’s career can be driven by one’s own life experiences and can generate both positive and negative results depending on the person you ask.Careers in teaching can be very fulfilling as you are responsible for transmitting the truth to future generations. They can equally be stressful for the failures in delivering their results. Careers in software development can equally be very fulfilling as you may one day be responsible for developing the app that can optimise the security networks in financial institutions.Ultimately this depends upon what sort of life you wish to live. The answer to this question is one that only you can answer. Every decision you make in life as regards to your career naturally excludes another one. Throughout your entire career, no matter what you do, you will still be comparing yourself to others who have “better” jobs, whether it is because they earn more, have a better work-life balance, or find their work to be more meaningful than yours. From a purely intellectual point of view, work itself is by its very nature servile, which means it serves others. The only kind of work that is not servile is academic, or intellectual work. This kind of work is more research oriented, focused within academic circles and universities, and is more competitive to get into, as opposed to other forms of work, which are less intellectual.

My parents are deciding my future?

I know what you're saying :) . We've all been through that stage in our lives.

I do know one thing: it seems your parents want the best for you, but you're in a stage of your life that's about rebelling against authority, against your parents, and trying to find out your goals in life.
It's right, you can just quit everything together, but where will that leave you? That's right, plenty of idiots out there who screwed up their lives by being too much of an idiot at 16.

Unless you can put down some decent, realistic alternative plan for your future, I'd suggest that you just do what your parents say for now. And I don't mean some plan like 'oh, I'm going to make money by making let's plays on youtube'. If you want to do manual labor, or work in a shop etc... be realistic about your own abilities and if it's going to be something that you want to do forever.

There are many options in university, and YOU will have to choose from them, not your parents, by then you'll need to have a clearer picture of your future profession.

I need help deciding what i want to do with my future!?

I am in high school. I am trying to decide what college to go to. I have a family that has very high standards. I am not really good at any thing. I get good grades, but don't particularly excel in any thing. I can't be a lawyer, because I am a terrible arguer ( It is a word! I checked!!! ). I can't stand blood, so being a doctor is out. Those are the only two jobs anyone in my family has ever had. I want to have a good paying job, and I want my family to be proud of me.
Here are some things you should know about me...
I love little kids
I can't public speak at all
I am pretty shy
I have high standards for EVERYTHING! :P
I can't stand anything gross
I am a pretty good writer if I do say so myself (:
I love to read fiction
I am very picky!

Please help me! Tell me if you have any suggestions for a job or major or if you really want to be awesome, a COLLEGE! If if isn't already obvious, I live in the US!!

If you answer, just say a job, and a corresponding college or two.
BTW, I would reallllly want to be in a sorority, so if a college has that, it's a plus!!

My parents won't let me decide my future?

What do you think about “a piece of paper can't decide my future”? How far is this correct?

Depends on where you're from. In India, a piece of paper is everything. It doesn't matter how good a student you are, if you've done badly in your exams, the marksheet is what matters. Your percentage is your identity. It doesn't matter if you're a hard-working, intelligent person. The cheque that you get paid at the end of the month determines your worth. It doesn't matter if you love the person you're with or are completely against the concept of marriage. If you sign a piece of paper, you're in it till you die.It doesn't matter if you're a brilliant, intelligent and interesting person. If there's a piece of paper somewhere which says you're from scheduled castes, suddenly everything changes. Somehow that paper decides how people treat you.It doesn't matter if you've shot an endangered species just for fun or run down a homeless man when you're too drunk to drive. If you have bundles of printed papers which we call money, you can get out of it looking like the innocent humanitarian who was falsely accused. So yeah, a piece of paper does decide your life, doesn't it?

A single sheet of paper can't decide my future. Do this really work in real life?

A single sheet of paper is the proof that you as a person exist. If there is no paper that says that you exist, then for all means and purposes, you don’t exist.Right from the day we are born till the time we die and even after death, our fortunes depend on the papers that we have.Birth certificates prove that we are alive.Education certificates prove that we are educated.Employment certificates say that we were or are currently employed.Marriage certificates prove that we are in a relationship.Death certificates prove that we are dead. And last but not least, have to mention the most important piece of paper that controls our lives in every possible manner “MONEY.”To put it in a perspective, our entire existence itself depends upon the papers that we have about ourselves. Sad but true.So its highly hypocritical to say that “my life does not depend upon a single sheet of paper”. Well it very much does.
